I've played mmos for a long time. My first was lotro when it launched 11 years ago. I have played almost every mmo since and recently started ESO.

Coming to these forums I must admit is some serious entertainment while at work.

Between people crying about an old Xpac/chapter being discounted, how ESO is P2W or wanting their $0.50 back because of downtime I have to say as a new player the "forum community is pretty toxic. I thought the swtor forums were fun but so far in my short time here the crying going on here is giving swtor a run for their money.

Keep it up haha it helps the work day.

On a side note because of all the crying over Morrowind being added to the sub and how Summerset is P2W I went ahead and preordered.

Thanks to all the complainers because of your threads I got alot of good info from all the non complainers correcting you.

*Disclaimer * yes my account was created during the Xbox beta period. I recently just started playing non beta eso on the xbox.

As it should be. Give it time. These forums are about like any other. Don’t take them seriously :)

Look at it this way. The devs and people like gina give so much more information than any other mmo team, it creates the whiny type of forums. but really its because the eso team is awesome
I would argue that. ZOS has stepped up the last year (and I really appreciate it) but they're still not the top in terms of communication.
I've yet to see anyone do better than CCP who have their devs actively discuss and debate mechanics changes with players on forums and twitter.

Although the difference there is CCP has a much smaller player base and is owns itself, meaning they make their own rules and are less slaves to marketing and corporate culture.

I don't know what ccp is hehe. but Ill take your word for it. either way much credit given to the eso staff @ZOS_GinaBruno

Mate, Bungie are just happy to have people in their forums at this point. Even if it is people just bashing the absolute *** out of the game. Destiny 2 tanked hard.

Welcome aboard or back or whatever. I spent a looonnnnggggg time on Destiny and agree with the others this is worlds better. Here even when things start to go a bit toxic they still tend to straighten out, something you don't see on most boards. The feedback, peoples willingness to answer questions and discuss the merits of many game related topics make this a good place to post. That along with what is an active and supportive moderation team goes a long way making this the most useful and enjoyable gaming board around.

That's fair maybe "toxic" wasn't the correct word. At the same time when a few spam doom and gloom about p2w (which its not) or an old xpac is discounted (which is normal) it can cause a toxic environment.

Toxic doesn't mean anything you want it to.

People complaining is not toxic until.

Toxic means being a ***, like: being a scammer, being someone who offends people for no reason at all other then just to get a giggle out of it, things like that.

its not really constructive, but the forums are where some people come to vent

I haven't seen the CCP forums, but Darkfall: New Dawn runs along exactly those lines. Never seen anything like it before. :o

Yes, agree ZOS have stepped up their response rate over the last few months.

yes the forums are toxic, yes the world is much different than it was 11 years ago, yes we live in an age of instant gratification and participation awards.

welcome to the ESO forums and welcome to the year 2018

disclaimer: i started mmorpg gaming in 2006 and i have played 18 mmorpgs to date. i dont agree with the crying but despite my conservative hard ass opinion about those kinds of people (you cant say millennials on these forums btw) you just have to do what makes you happy and stand by your values.
You should've been here back when he had a LOL button. Much better days.

Leveling in 100x better and for a new player that's a good thing.
Kinda contradicting yourself here, aren't you?

Despite that i find it hilarous that even if you were in fact a new player you'd start with a thread elevating yourself above others right of the bat...

I have 30 hours in and highest level toon is 34. I am most definitely new to eso even if I've played on beta and tried it when they switched the leveling.

Where did I evaluate myself to others? The post is about how entertaining these forums are and how helpful all these doom and gloom post have been.

    Some info

    Actually 29 hours played
    6 anchors closes
    24 skyshards found
    55/2960 achievement score

Sure if you want to go through my post history to determine if I'm a new player or not go right ahead.

if my Xbox stats show I'm no longer "new" I will change my post for you.

I quite enjoy Destiny 2, don't see what all the fuss is about. Then again, I never played the first one #pcmasterrace.
