Current jewelry won't be deconstructable at all because they don't want people hoarding jewelry and then deconstructing it so they can level it faster than everyone else.

I don't see the point in this at all. Doesn't take long to level up a crafting skill anyway. just save 30,000 gold before summerset hits, give it a day or two for traders to be fully stocked of new jewellery and you'll be good to go... It's not like any of the current jewellery has the trait that increases experience from deconstruction.
Actually, wouldn't even need to do that, just run random normals or dolmens over and over, sell off non jewellery inventory and repeat. bags will be full in no time.
It looks like they're trying to fix something that isn't broken.
Researching traits takes a fixed time anyway so it can't even be viewed from the unfair advantage point of view.
Edit: My bad didn't see the 'Legendary' part of the title.
We will get new materials, base material is pewter as seen in previews. The old materials can not be deconstructed but the new one can.Based on my knowledge of MMO games and how they work, I'd assume no. Anything "generated" before summerset will be in a specific item# range. Anything in this range will NOT be able to be deconstructed. Summerset jewelry will be in a separate item# range allowing it to be deconstructed.
I don't think this will be possible.ZoS stated, that only jewelry obtained after summerset comes life can be deconstructed for the upgrade materials. what about jewelry in mails? end campaign rewards, weekly trial rewards and even jewelry bought in a guildstore. i bet there will be issues about items obtained on ways like mails or similar things and people will take advantage from it. Please get this thing done right ZoS, otherwise it will cause some problems.
@xxthir13enxx yes. Confirmed by ZOS at PAX there will be a UI element (text I think) telling you what's old and new.xxthir13enxx wrote: »My question would be....Will you be able to distinguish between “new” and “old” jewelry. Or will all jewelry in Guild Vendors etc. Look the same until you go throw the dice and see if it’s deconstructable?
New materials, perhaps also marked some way. This is most relevant just after launch.xxthir13enxx wrote: »My question would be....Will you be able to distinguish between “new” and “old” jewelry. We are currently working on an extensive Jewelry Crafting article that will go into more detail on all of the things the community is looking to find out about the new crafting system coming with Summerset.
Until then, here's some info we've clarified already:
- You will not be able to deconstruct any jewelry you are holding on to prior to Summerset.
- You will be able to upgrade, transmute, and research existing jewelry.
We are already past this point. But we are looking at the definition of „dropped“. Is it meant like taken up to the inventory or does stuff in your mails count as dropped. Still a guaranteed way to obtain gold jewelry right after SS is there, seems to be rewards, which arent yet in your mail box.
Sigh i wish people would first read the whole thread before answering...

It depends. I remember when they changed the world boss boxes in Wrothgar (I think to add Malacath motif pages), they changed the item codes of the boxes so only boxes that were received *after* the update had the motifs.
Best way to test it is to keep some mail unopened and when they copy our characters to the PTS open them and check.
