I got a mule character called The Headless Muleman and an Argonian named Faps-In-Shadows.
I'm not creative.
Isnt the "headless mule" some kind of spook story? Im pretty sure it is here where I live(Brazil).
On topic.
I mostly name my characters based on their builds theme or their race, my Werewolf is named "Donmor Hunting-Crescent" and my khajit archer is called "Do'fer Sohlnai" (being Do the prefix of Warrior in Khajitti language)
Outside of my account name (and Khajiit), which are both misspellings of a holy desert in one of my all time epic fantasy story arcs, I use the UESP name sections of each race for inspiration. I like naming my characters in line with their normal naming conventions.
Back from a much needed break. || I like having too many projects and working on them all at once.

I normally go with "names" made of a jumble of letters I tip on the keyboard as well, rearranging them to make them kinda fitting for a fantasy world. Or I go with names I personally like. And in both cases I don't give a flying f**** about lore or anything like that, or the people who might think going for example by the name of Hugo or Karl (my dad's standard game character names) is anti lorish or something and doesn't fit into a fantasy world.
So most of my Characters are named by rearranged letters, though some have other names than just that. Here are my character names.
My Main: Limaas, a male Argonian.
Anaraila, a female High Elf.
Naemenari, a female Wood Elf.
Murakesh, a male Khajiit. Wanted to name him Marek or Marik, or a variation of that, since my Skyrim Khajiit was named that and I wanted to keep with that, but it was already taken, ao I went with Murakesh instead, something based on that name, but in the end something completely different.
And then I have three characters, that are named in another style.
Seymour Thorbrandsson, an Imperial male werewolf. A long time ago I read a book series, Die Erben der Nacht, where there was a werewolf called Seymour. Since I wanted to make him a werewolf from the very beginning, I went witht that name. Don't ask what made me make his last name Thorbrandsson, but I think it was me linking the name Thorbrand and thus this last name was born.
I also have a male Breton by the name of Kilian Corvus. Here again I went with a name I like, Kilian, that sadly was already taken as well, so I thought about something cool to add and Corvus, the raven in latin, came to my mind.
The last character I made so far, my Orc Lady, goes by the name of Lady Gora the Red. The name I had in mind was Zora the Red, or the Red Zora or whatever "Die Rote Zora" is called in the English version of the book, me only knowing the German. Then I thought, well, you have an Orc here, Zora sounds too soft, go with something that reminds of gore, and fuse it with the name. Thus, Gora. The Lady was added because obviously, she is a Lady.
Sarenthia: I wanted a snooty, vaguely "elvish" sounding feminine name for my Altmer, and that's what I came up with. Not much to it, really...
Stacks-Many-Shields: My healer was originally going to be a cancerous PVP shield-stacker, with an appropriate name. She still stacks shields, though not quite as many as she used to.
Bears-the-Brunt: She's a tank, and I like alliteration.
Anguà von Überwald: This character (a werewolf) was named after one of my favourite Terry Pratchett characters (also a werewolf).
Drusílla: This character (a vampire) was named after my favourite BtVS character (also a vampire).
Ćatesby: This character (a Khajiit) was named after my pet (also a Khajiit). Every Khajiit I've ever played has been named after one of my cats. My favourite was Bartleby the Shrivener (named after my cat Bartleby, who was himself named after Melville's Bartleby the Scrivener), but I retired him when I turned my NB into a Dunmer.
All of my toons names are extinct native American tribes that used to live in my area. Bit of a memorial because my family is partially responsible for them being extinct.
I've got
Datthaw
Yemassee
Coosa
Combahee
Congaree
My tag has always been Jeezye, and my toons are just variations of that. I got Jeezye, Tweezye, Ghweezye, Squeezye, with the only exception being my lovely argonian Templar named Shakes-Beer
Some of my toons are named in honor of characters from other games (single-player) that are among my favorite games of all time. Characters from games like Dragon Age Inquisition, The Witcher 3, Assassin's Creed, Dragon Dogma, etc..; even from The Kingdom of Amular. Now that is one treasure of a game, which isn't a widely known game, but Amular is awesome. Too bad the company went under internally (amidst some political bs and internal leadership/executives feud, which I understand attributed to their demise) before a second Amular was able to be developed. Sad face here, sad face . ESO is able to take away some of the pain, somewhat. Ha ha. Well, other toons of mine are named in honor of Greek myth God/Goddess or hero/heroin from Marvel/Capcom comics superheroes, etc.
My nord templar is named Mestasi which is Finnish for the act of executing someone.
My pvp character that is my 'psycho imperial nightblade' I named Locus.
I have my stamplar redguard named Málák.
Etc.
I take my time with the names too xD
same as many here, I'll take names & place names I like & tweak them...
Winola becomes Vinoleah
Aurelia is Aurelianwe
or like Philadae, one guess where I'm near?
& my Nord lass is extra tall so of course her name needed to be extra feminine, & she's Olanthe
its fun & not too tricksy to make ESO-friendly variants of names you like!
sometimes I'll search "celtic names" or "egyptian names" or "mythology names" & then work from there...
I'd always rather have a weird name than a boring one

My Altmer and Bosmer characters are generally a hybrid of known elvish tongue and Elder Scrolls ancient Ayleid language. So, I am able to translate to regular English in most cases:
Character names for me are a make or break it thing (I'm big into RP and making a back story for my character), a bad name for a character really kills my vibe to play them even outside of Role Play. I usually think of a characters name for a week or two before actually making him/her, what goes into that process is basically what kind of story I want my character to have. And more importantly, what race they are. Each race has a different naming convention, so I try to keep it lore accurate. I also keep track of any character names I see/hear/read that I really like or use so that when I'm making a new character I can reference it and mix and match or get inspiration from them. That makes the process a lot easier for me personally.

|Merlian Nightstalker| - DC Imperial Magicka Dragonknight
|Nix Nightstalker| - EP Imperial Stamina Sorccer
|Kragdin Longrock| - DC Imperial Stamina Templar
|Zane Killian| - EP Dunmer Magicka Nightblade
|Alyia Bekker| - DC Breton Magicka Warden "If the job were easy, it wouldn't be any fun!"
For the most part, I'll come up with a name that I think is lore-friendly and fits what their role will be
-Faer Lacano: Altmer MagSorcerer, I forgot part of the naming convention for high elves so I pretend "Faer" is a title or something
-Ga 'Nan Dorf: Redguard StamSorcerer, Named and based on Ganondorf for the Legend of Zelda, one of my fav villains
-Takes-Whats-Needed: Argonian MagNightblade, Created with the intention on being a Tank/Healer, still heals sometimes
-Nash gra-Kurshnik: Orc StamTemplar, Warrior of Trinimac, would have named "Nash gra-Orsinium" if I knew "gra-something" meant where the Orc was from at the time of naming
-Mozun-Do: Khajiit: TankDragonknight, -Do meaning "warrior" in the Khajiit language, I believe
-Rosenwen Gilderheart: Bosmer StamWarden, Both stam dps and stam healer, wanted to make it clear she was nature based
-Mathias Daemon: Dunmer MagDragonknight, more of a joke name after Matt Damon
-Cantor Jivessa-Ko: Khajiit HealSorcerer, Based on the Twilight Cantors from MoL, -Ko means female priestess I believe
-Boraelia Domine: Altmer MagWarden, Roughly means "Frost Lord"
-Sethos Veyehm: Dunmer MagTemplar, Name is based on the alt names of the Tribunal(Vehk, Seht, Ayem), Clockwork Apostle
-Zharesh-Wamek: Argonian TankSorcerer, Wamek being based on Wamasu because sorcs=lightning
-Zilail at-Yokeda: Redguard StamNightblade, First name comes from some Arabic words being shadow and death and the like
As you can see from my signature, all my characters are variation of Xaraan.
It's fantasy friendly name that suits my RPish needs that I made up to use on a D&D character loooong ago. Now I Use it in games.
In a single player game I might use it for one run, but I do use different names for different characters. But with comms used in multi-player I wanted my character name to be the same as my account/TS name for callouts and less confusion.
