How did you named your sub characters?

I'm not serious role player but very sensitive about naming my characters - It takes about hours to decide my character name every damn time.
I'm tired of this, so i started to make every character name same as my irl name. But It was solution in the Solo RPG, not in the MMORPG.

I have about 5 toons in my acc. As you know, I can't name them all with same names. I *REALLY* hated myself to did this, but eventually i bought name change tokens, again.

Cut the bs, what i want to know is how did you named your various toons in this game? All of them are identical, or different each other? I want to hear other player's oppinions.

And dear ZOS, for the uncle sheo's sake pls make name change token more cheaper. It's way expensive for simple name change.

I wanted to give my chars lorefriendly names, so none of them is named Bob, for example.

Violynne

You can't create identical names with characters, but I have altered them.

My magSorc is Violynne (Altmer). My magBlade is Vio'lynne (Khajiit). My stamBlade is Cassandra Willowlake (Wood Elf).

For the stamBlade, I went to UESP.net and looked up lore for naming Wood Elves. "Violynne Willowlake" just didn't fit.

When I saw Cassandra, another favorite, the two went well together.

Most of my names are variations of lore names taken from UESP.

Some are names which are not TES related but ones I've used before or just for fun. I also named all my Character Txxxx Vxxxx because I am weird.
Taja Rominsco (named after my first D&D 3.5 character) and Happy gro-Hug are the exceptions to that rule.

I have three characters, two male, and a female. I named my female character after my wife and the two males I randomly chose surnames that sounded lore friendly and added a first name. lol

All of my 14 characters have lore friendly names, appropriate for their chosen race and/or background.

Almost all of my characters are imports from tabletop games I've played over the last 35 years. I like building them in ESO because it has one of the best avatar makers I've seen so far, and I like to see a digital representation of my old favorites. So they already had names in other games and I just bring them into ESO and if they are already taken I adjust as needed.

Seconded on the name change tokens!! At least do a sale please?! When I made my first toon I wasn't aware that we could use spaces or have more than one word and I had to spell his name weird when I could've just used his epithet, but it's too expensive to fix as it is right now.

I got a mule character called The Headless Muleman and an Argonian named Faps-In-Shadows.

If you're having trouble with names, look at the UESP names page for your race to get some inspiration. Nothing annoys me more than people running around with their characters named "Poopypants123". Thats not a name, its not even an acceptable @name...

So it's a mix between jokes, references and stuff I thought sounded cool

2 - alliteration of my real name, in the Altmer style
3 - my pet tomcat, with reference with his disability
4 - my wife, albeit French sounding, to reflect the character Breton race
5 - random Dunmer first name, second name similar to a dungeon antagonist
6 - random Redguard first name, similar to a well known hero
7 - random Altmer first name and toponymic, fortuitously featured in an upcoming expansion
8 - random Redguard first name and moniker, similar to an NPC from one of the DC main quests
9 - Argonian style name alluding to one of the class abilities
10 - random Imperial (roman style, including the gens) name alluding to a character from another TES game
11 - random Dunmer name, second name taken from a well known Vvardenfell noble house
12 - random Bosmer name
13 - random Orsimer name
14 - Welsh name befitting the character, since IRL Bretons are closely related to Welsh and Cornish people

I study their naming convections until I understand enough to assign a lore friendly name that fits the character I am creating. This takes time, and I am sensitive to it as well. Surnames are often essential due to many names being already in use.

I have found that naming is often the more difficult part of creating a new character.

Indira Indoril is my main character, I recently made a couple alts, they are named Hleran Hlaalu, Telvon Telvanni, Revyn Redoran and Divya Dres.

Having fun with alliterations, while still keeping it appropriately lore friendly

2. Argonian Templar-Healer: Xaman Ek (named after the mayan god of direction)

3.Argonian DK-Tank: Happy-Little-Tree (Found as a surviving infant and raised/named by his stepfather who was a famous breton artist *wink* he rocked an afro *wink*)

4. Woodelf Warden-StamDPS: Irwaen Oakhollow ( also a Mix of UESP Names but with first Letter similiar to my GFs name^^)

5. will probably be a Dunmer/Khajiit or Hightelf sorc. not sure tho'

Same surname to keep my options available. I play it off like they're all part of the same clan/extended family (cousins and siblings). They're all khajiit. The names all relate to cats in some way (as do all of my mounts). "Asad" is arabic for lion, and the M' prefix is common for khajiit males. Pakhet/Pasht is a name for an egyptian cat goddess in middle egypt. Bastet was a cat goddess in upper egypt. Raksha and Leonin are names from Magic: the gathering.

Well, I use a name that pops into my head while creating a character. I try to use lore-friendly-ish names.

My first toon is a bosmer stam sorc called Dana Ill-hearted, the name came from Sonata Artica's lyrics (many of their songs mentions Dana). My most played alt is a altmer mag sorc called Horation the Wise, the name references to CSI: Miami. Then I have a WIP altmer healer called Tobacano the Magnificent and a WIP argonian tank called Sees-Fifty-Shades. Other chars are mules and I do not remember their names, sadly.

recently had the experience of trying to name a toon only to be told the name was in use. after retrieving the keyboard from the other side of the room named the character played around a bit then logged to character select to realize the reason i couldn't use the name i wanted was because i had it on another toon.

/facepalm.

All my characters are variations of Lilly, often with a descriptive surname added - so Lylia Craftmaster for my crafter and my mag warden had Frostkin added. I got lucky with my dark elf DK. Looked into names a little and came up with Llilia, no surname needed

I find that many names I want are taken, even when I did the Beta. My account names had been taken as well. So I came up with a knew account name and used it as the precursor name, minus the numbers, followed by the names I wanted to use.

BTW: I have 13 characters. They come out with another class someone is getting deleted to be remade.

It depends a little on the specific character, I try to use something that fits them or their history. Often times I will pull something from latin that fits what I am going for. My Khajit stamBlade thief/assassin - Umbra Sicara (Shadow assassin), My twin Bosmers, Ivy Bramblethorn a stamDK and her sister Flit Bramblethorn a stamBlade, My Orc stamplar crafter - Gromisk the Diverse and the others are all named in similar fashion. (The rest are mostly mag builds so not as important as these.)
