Cost of Coldharbour House and the exploiters

So i couldnt help but notice the cost is extremely high for a home that zenimax gave away for free to people who could login when a messed up update hit a while back, seems odd to rip off the part of your playerbase who did not exploit this and expect them to pay such a high cost. Can zenimax atleast respond to why some people were allowed to keep it at 0 cost?

Wait, people were allowed to keep the Coldharbor House that they acquired through exploiting an obvious bug with the Crown Store?

So why bother having a ToS then?

It was never confirmed nor denied that those who purchased it for 1 crown ever got to keep it.

Unless someone who purchased it mentions what happened somewhere you'll never know. ZOS won't comment on this.

I don't know that the price was obviously bugged. I can easily imagine a substantial segment of the population playing ESO don't look at the News on the site, these forums, etc. and just thought "Cool, 1 g for a weird non-house"

Notably, I did not get in on that particular bonanza. Pondering getting it, but it seems awfully expensive. I do love the lower skirt around the edge off the top flat bit.

You can't say it was an exploit after the daedric throne incident. Perfectly reasonable to think maybe ZoS was being totally cool with a giveaway.

the house wasnt taken away from the people who got it for free so zenimax really should respond as to why legit players should have to pay crazy prices for it now

They probably couldnt take it back from people. Crowns have a RL monetary value and constitute a sale. Once you sell something to somebody you cant take it back just because you charged the wrong price... thats your own fault for not checking the price before you offered it for sale.

Your using future events to define whether an action was an exploit. Before ZoS took it out of the store, the people buying could not have been sure.

Let me remind everyone how the Daedric thrones incident went down. This is the tweet ZoS made a full 2.5 to 3.5 hours after the vendor appeared.

Until this very moment I did not realize that the price wasn't intentional!

Then why didn't they just leave the cold harbor estate at 1g then rather than upping it in price for the rest of the entire game that was to cautious to buy it?

True, but they should have just left it 1g anyway cause that's what the one's that didn't care if it turned out to be an exploit or not and the majority of the game barely even have that much gold at one time anyway

I thought I remember at least one player expressing salt about having it taken away in Discord. Also, had so many players been able to keep it, wouldn't it have been more apparent? Surely someone would have posted interesting screenshots?

Because in this case their mistake cost ZoS money in the crown store and not just a gold sink effect.

Perma broke as rng has forsaken me and to this day i havent gotten a rare drop motif or perfect trait anything nor got anything sellable. So gold is basically selling ornate crap and kills... dont event get rare crap on events.

Whether or not someone knew they were exploiting does not entitle them to keep the result of their exploit of a glitch.

I don't buy the "I didn't know" excuse for a second, but the truth of it makes no difference. We agree in the TOS not to exploit glitches. The unintended pricing was a glitch, players should not be allowed to keep the benefits of eploiting knowingly or unknowingly, a glitch.

You wouldn't get in trouble for finding a bug
People didn't get in trouble for killing IC monsters, seeing the XP and leaving

My point is, people exploiting is more than just doing a single action. Also all previous bugs etc did not involve a crown store purchase.

It was up for sale in the store, someone purchasing an item from the store, a one time purchase as well, is hardly any exploit.

Also I'm thinking there would probably be a big issue over removing a purchased item from someone's account. The blow back from changing purchased housing was severe enough

We agree in the TOS not to exploit glitches.
Under what exact context is this a Glitch and not a Pricing Mistake.
It's not like they added in an update, broke the EXP rate of certain enemies, and people exploited that unintended glitch for their own gain.
This is an issue where they made a massive mistake on their side and released something early with improper pricing information.
Not really intended, but also not exactly an "Exploitable Glitch"

Under what context does a handful of people getting a practically free house harm you, me, or anyone else?

This doesn't effect me, or change the fact that I will (With low Priority compared to my other goals) still grind out the Gold Cost for this non-house just because I can.

The forums honestly sometimes seem like a bucket filled with Crabs. The second someone has a chance to get lucky or get something good, another "Crab" will simply grab them and pull them down. Everyone is too busy trying to screw over their fellow players because of some imagined advantage or benefit instead of just doing their own thing.

You can refund the crown and take the item back since it's digital.

Companies cancel orders due to pricing errors all the time.

Here is an example of Lenovo cancelling orders after a pricing glitch: https://globalnews.ca/news/1355313/lenovo-canada-cancels-customer-orders-after-online-pricing-error/
