Grind spot etiquette.

    It's a public space.
Courtesy is nice, but it isn't a one-way street.
you also need to analyse the situation and determine if your own actions are detrimental to others.
(Hogging a zone, slow clear time)
you need to communicate with those involved and then come to a compromise.
(Inform of alternative grind spots, ask for some solo time after which you will leave)
Expecting others to carry the burden of all this consideration and also to hinder their own progress is selfish, and is an "I was here first" mentality.

I’m now envisioning a new Crown Store assistant: the Grind Spot Maître D'

You drop him when you are in your favorite grind spot and want to keep others out...

“Ah, yes, party of two for grinding? Name? Oh dear, I’m so sorry, but I do not see you on the list. Did you call in with a reservation? No? Well, it appears we do not have any additional room at this time. Perhaps you would like me to add you name to our waiting list? We should have an opening in approximately 45 minutes. Please have a seat in the lounge and we will call you when your spot is ready.”

OP needs to just stop angling around to try and be right. You're wrong, end of.

I find it hypocritical when someone dragging mobs complains about courtesy.

Let me pose a different argument. If you and your friend are running around Tamriel and you come upon a chest do you immediately take it from them and pick it or do you ask if they would like it. Maybe that or take turns between chests.

See, I am trying to get you guys to see the other side, to see the etiquette in that interaction that I know you all practice. Please try to see the other side.

Whoever got there first would open it. And I know this contradicts my stance with the “I got here first” mentality”.

But if I were traveling with a bud, neither of us would waste time with this triviality. If there was anything good in it, I’d see if they wanted it if I had no desire to keep it.

If it were a random, well if I fail at the lockpick and they grab it and succeed where I failed, then good for them. I’ll still be pissed, but I wasn’t good enough.

You're wasting your virtual breath, gaming etiquette is gone these days. I played DAOC for 8 years and in all that time I could probably count how many times someone leeched my camp and it wasn't even against the rules, it was just an unwritten rule the game community made up. Actually attacking a mob that you were fighting was a bannable offense though and there were in game admins you could contact who would immediately punish the offender. In 8 years I had to do that once.
I just started playing ESO again after about two years and nothing has changed, every single time I'm fighting a mob near another player they always attack it as well. If I am opening a chest they rush over and try to steal it from me, same with resource nodes. If I see anyone even going near one of these things I just pass by.
No ethics at all these days unfortunately.

There is nothing wrong with stealing a chest if you mess up lockpicking. Don't mess up.

If they made it to the resource node before you, it sounds like YOU were the one trying to steal it. In reality, the only no one was stealing. Unless you snatch nodes from people clearing mobs on top of the node, there is no problem in my eyes.

No, you want ESO to be more like WoW, when you get chests and divide the loot.. This isn't WoW and a lot of us DO NOT want this to be a WoW clone!
And NO to CP points in Crown Store!!

That's a really *** poor attitude about chests, if someone got there first don't be a *** and let them have at it.

I never said anything about people getting to nodes before me, obviously if they get there before me or I can see they're about to use it I just move along, I don't try to race to one to beat out someone who is obviously heading to it, it's called not being a ***. I just find it annoying how I'll be right at a node and someone tries to rush in at the last second and steal it.
