If you don’t own Summerset, you will still be able to find Jewelry Crafting resource nodes to sell, and you will also be able to purchase crafted jewelry from others. Set jewelry will be BoE, non-set will not be bound. Additionally, you will not be able to deconstruct any jewelry you're currently holding onto prior to Summerset launch.
We're currently working on a very extensive Jewelry Crafting article that we plan to publish before we start the next PTS cycle, which will hopefully answer a lot more questions.

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom this important. I can see the scams and forum sadness now.
I just hope crafting mats drop rate for jewellery will be slightly higher than perfect roe...ZOS_GinaBruno wrote: »Hey everyone, wanted to clear a few things up for you. What about after Summerset launch? Or do they mean to say we will not be able to deconstruct any jewelry obtained prior to Summerset launch? Should I be hoarding AP or gold jewelry?

Are you able to deconstruct jewelry before ss? No. You don’t have the means to. So this sentence is about obtained jewels.

That said, the whole plan of what they apparently ARE doing --rendering almost all pre-existing jewelry worthless -- is a bad idea. Yes, I know ZoS is much better than other MMOs at not trashing your preexisting gear, and hence could be excused an exception to that generality. But ZoS is also much worse than others in other frustration-inducing ways -- e.g. Loading Screens!! So introducing a major new grind could push a lot of people past their frustration limit.
Also, the more of a grind jewelry crafting is, the more that research time reductions or other aids become ptw.
When you go to a guild trader, it always shows who crafted the item, so you will be able to tell them apart. Person to person trading might be an issue though?

That is the most asinine statement I keep seeing come up in these threads. The ONLY function current jewelry is not going to have over post-Summerset jewelry is the ability to deconstruct it. Gina already stated that you will able to improve it, transmute it, and use it for research. Just can’t deconstruct it.
Oh yeah, and you’ll still be able to... get ready for this.... Wear it!!!
Explain to me how that defines worthless?

You will still be able to upgrade, transmute, or even research existing jewelry. You just won't be able to deconstruct it.

@Anti_Virus Here you go:You will still be able to upgrade, transmute, or even research existing jewelry. You just won't be able to deconstruct it.

"So bringing jewlery crafting in everyone is just going so save up jewlery to decon. We don't want players taking advantage of the transition."
"Well we can just make it so old jewlery dropped before the update cannot be deconstructed"
"Good idea"
And the thought process stops there.
But the playerbase always continue the thought process and here we are. In a situation where if nothing changes players could be taken advantage of.
Devs need to learn to think things through completely.
