Sorcs are still the second strongest class and actively get used in leader board trial runs. They parse 5-10% higher than templar/DK/warden while having superior survivability.

You know, anyone can pick one of those staves up and well, use them. You don’t have to respec to use it, and I don’t see how Sorc is made ‘special’ by the Destro staff passives that anyone can buy.
If anything, magblades are the current alpha magic wielding class in this game. PVE. Duels. PVP. They’re at the top. They do even better with a Destro staff.

Generally just saying losing the spammable on a templar wouldn't hurt the dps. It'd still hurt the theme of the class though.

Yeah, that's not true. Sorcs were a very average class until pets got buffed. I dont remember which patch that was exactly, but it was around the time of VMOL. Prior to that, sorcs were very rare to see on any leaderboard save VMA. There were a few people (streak, yolo wizard) that could basically treat it like a current mageblade rotation (juggle everything independently) and pull good damage but they were the exception to the rule. In the craglorn trial days, mDKs were first and sorcs were certainly not in second. You could argue I suppose that there were in second because of overload, but that was never useful in trials.
Edit: Also, Sorcs are still the second strongest PVE MAGIC DPS CLASS; that is an important distinction. They are NOT the second strongest stamina class, they ceratinly are NOT the second strongest support class, and no way in heck they are the second strongest PVP class. The only exception to that is that sorcs do make the best Stamina support class in PVP (rapids spammer), but that is a pretty niche role.My DK/Templar would take the sorc buff happily. The difference between range sorc and range magplar is much closer than you think. I think sorc is in a better spot than templar currently for DPS, but I am not sure they are >>> better. Good mageplars with a FP build are pushing 40k on dummies.

Well, from a PvP perspective they were basically hypermobile gods with shielstacking and high burst so they didnt really need a tank or healer . All you needed was just a few magsorcs and you basically wouldn't need any other class ^^.
Kind of like how it is with wardens at the moment. To be honest you can call me salty or whatever but when you see trials running like full magsorc DDs, you know something is messed up about balance. So you’re saying Sorcs were OP in PvP, therefore they must be “BiS at literally every role”. C’mon now lol.
Also Wardens are not at all as good as ppl make them out to be. In PvE they are nice offtanks, and can make pretty decent Stamina DPS. In PvP they are one of the stronger Stamina specs too. But as for Mag DPS and Healing in both PvE and PvP? Nope, not outclassing everyone else. And fighting Mag Wardens in particular is very easy because Scorch is so easy to avoid.2 -
