Agreed... The majority of it--especially from treasure chests/maps--is abysmal in quality.

Really, selling something for 250G in the store is just a waste of 1 of those 30 spots you have.

*looks at the million gold in her bank*

Well, I've no real complaints but hey, I'm always up for improvement. :)

I was kind of thinking the same thing. I dont have millions. But i make enough off treasure chests to loot and let them take of inv space.

OP: You could just sell the maps guild traders. They arent bound. You can get 100 plus for them and they usually sell decent if you price them right on a decent trader.

Deconstruct, sell drops, research, etc. Useful stuff. I never sell the actual maps themselves. I harvest them and gain from the results.

Yep me too. Even if you just cashed everything in you get like 300 from the chest.

I cant afford to lose guildstore slot for less then 1k

Thats because your doing it wrong.

Especially with someone like me who snaps 'em up. Slots don't stay full long. :)

Yep its all about turnover and knowing what something is worth. I see a lot of people put stuff on traders and dont bother to do any research or know the value of it and they will have a 500 gold item on trader for 1200 gold and then be like " i need more slots", No you need to learn how to move items. If most of your store inventory isnt turning over every 24 hours, your doing something wrong. If something is on the trader more than 3 days, your doing something wrong.

I bought all the gold-based houses, all motifs and provision recipes, several times been first trader in Mournhold and Wayrest, believe me, I know what Im doing. If I farm a lot I drop prices so I always have free slots, but when Im not in a mood, yes, I can keep my slots free selling those bits dirt cheap, but I dont have much to sell, I can sell them higher, like rare motif books (daedric, primal) for 2-3k or 2-writs wouchers for 4k. They stay there for a couple of days but eventually will be sold. So I manage prices that way all my guildstores in Wayrest, Mournhold and Elden root are busy all the time, if I run out of slots I drop prices. And no way will I bother with something worth less than 1k

They are definitely worth something. A guildie once researched the base amount of gold you get from just vendoring everything, without considering the worth of set items and he came up with a base value that is pretty reasonable for the work involved after you remember where they are. So I definitely enjoy them and use them on whatever alt is going for the 1000 chest achievement at any given time.

They sure are worth something. I think this is a case of patience vs. low-patience. I've made a lot of money via treasure maps.

Once jewelry crafting comes out, chests will be a decent source of blue and purple rings/necks to research and decon for mats. The value should go up a bit. Agree it would be nice if there were some higher quality loot items sometimes (e.g. Aetheric cipher or something)

Man, I just destroy treasure maps anymore. All they do is take up space, and the chests just drp trash for the most part. Don't need to go out of my way to dig one of these up when I can just do the same with the junk I get from trash mobs.

Agreed, they are overwhelmingly garbage unless you spend an absurd amount of time getting 100 of them. They are treasure maps, not slightly valuable maps.

I have never seen anything good in a Vvardenfell treasure map chest. I did sell a Divines Shoes of Necropotence for 50k out of one.

I use my maps on the last Wednesday of every month. I currently have 79. I had to destroy seven because of multiples during the last four weeks. The drop rate could use a little massaging.

The only maps I ever sell are Cyrodiil. They may take a while to move at 2k but I have never had a listing of one expire.

2k is my lowest price for the guild trader. I only have two guilds with traders so I only sell the more valuable and quick moving items. I sell at a discount compared to the Capital Cities but still make plenty of gold.

Back to the topic, I think they should have a loot table slightly better than Master chests. They are supposed to be something that was worth enough to bury and make a map to be able to find it. Gold jewelry would be a great addition to the loot table. I would like to see them drop all the gold mats. If there was a chance for aetherial dust, they would sell for a lot more on traders.

For now, I'll just keep saving them for my monthly road trips.

From personal experience, only treasure maps I see people care for are vvardenfell ones. I sometimes do treasure maps but that is really just an excuse to just explore and look around. They are not stackable, so only way to really have multiple copies is to have one on each character or utilize mail limbo.
Treasure maps are by far not worth doing overall. I've done hundreds of treasure maps... they are not worth doing. I do feel they need to fix this and add something to the mix. Maybe add something for each zone that makes each map special in its own sort of way. Give us more reasons to actually utilize them, and not have them go through mail limbo for 30 days on end or destroying them.

Treasure map chests don't award you the 1000 chest marker, sorry. Dolmens do though. I went and compared while doing hundreds of treasure maps. They never once added a marker for it for me. Not sure if a glitch or an oversight.

Well, I've no real complaints but hey, I'm always up for improvement. :)

No offense, but if you're making "millions" from treasure maps, you are wasting an exorbitant amount of time. The time spent digging up even the most convenient treasure maps could net you significantly more gold doing other things.

Orrr, I could be doing them simultaneously with other things. :)

ETA: Sorry, that was abrupt but phone rang. Anyway:

    1. Just one million (so far) so no need for the quoted "millions" (although we shall see).
    2. I work on a lot of achievements, exploration being a favourite. Why not make money along the way?
    3. And that's the point for me. I do what's enjoyable, poking about, discovering, gathering etc. so the maps are not the actual goal, they're something I do along with the other stuff I enjoy. I'm not trying to "score big" money-wise. I'm enjoying making money whilst I do the things I like to do anyway.
    4. Waste of time? What's the hurry? If I'm having fun, I don't think it's a waste of time.
    5. It's not about the gold, only mentioned that because people tend to think the maps are "worthless". They are not.

Every once in a while they add something to these that isn't total garbage. They are certainly due. I sell all mine mostly to fill my guild store quota. I would certainly not spend my time picking them up. They are indeed garbage.
I am currently worried for the future of ESO. Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.

Its treasure, or meant to be but you get utter trash. Gold jewellery being like a 50% chance with the overall rarity being upped a fair bit would be nice.

I've been playing this for a good few years now and I am yet to have gold jewellery drops :(

Its because gold jewelry drops for overland sets don't exist. The ONLY way to get gold jewelry for overland and dungeon sets is The Golden trader in Cyrodiil has a couple pieces for sale each week for massive amounts of gold or AP

just drop the Trashure Maps that don't belong to a map with popular sets, like Bangkorai.

But yes, they could be improved to feel like really getting a treasure. The idea above with golden jewelry pieces (even with 2% chance) would be a great solution since overland sets have no golden version.

If you are on Xbox NA, I'll take all I wanted treasure maps. Seriously. I have made most of my money and farmed most of my gear using treasure maps. I usually buy any listed under 300 gold from the traders for a zone I am about to farm. At a minimum I get that money back. But more often than not, I make much more than that. My last treasure chest farm I spent 10K on maps and made 150K back from selling the unwanted set pieces I picked up. Spent an hour farming the chests. Definitely worth it.

Plus, it is something to do while waiting for the queue into Vivec.

I find them to be tedious to collect after a while.

Sometimes I save only the ones that are from zones that drop desirable sets or items and trash the rest.
