The point is to not repeat what you already did / accomplished...
I can see it as an option when you create a new character. Something like New game+. Besides - if you create a character lets say only for PvP you have to do a lot of unnecessary grind in order to get sufficient amount of skill points.

Based on your position, CP points shouldn't be distributed to alts immediately. Fine. ZoS, please remove all CP from players who didn't "earn" them on the alts.

Sounds good to me. Can you arrange for ZoS to do this tomorrow? That would be excellent. Cheers.

This is the issue. It has nothing to do with "gimme", but more to align what's already been given to us: faster alt creations.

Faster alt levelling was a "gimme". This is just suggesting taking yet another step down that path. This is a "gimme". No thanks.

Endgame is the problem. Instead of being something to keep players busy until the next batch of content is released, it has now become a goal in, and of, itself. There is a palpable rush to get to endgame, I've lost count of the number of posts here (and in zone) about speed levelling, or grinding out CP or gear farming... all for endgame.

Here's a solution I posted before: An endgame server.

That has more to do with elitism and the benefits of being end game cp more than anything. Regardless making it the experience more streamlined is never a bad idea.

Now with the most recent DLC account wide collectables doesnt sound like a bad idea. Most recent stats show 20 percent and less will level the new skill line on another character. Its hardly replay value if no one is doing it.

Iv played since launch and have deleted so many chars to play lowbie pvp. Iv also kept 10 CP chars. The grind on sky shards is crazy. Grind to level, Grind to advance pvp, Grind for all the guilds, Grind for undaunted, Grind to level and unlock skills. But it’s the skyshard grind that kills me.

Ps. Forgot the Grind for all the crafting...

Seriously account bound skyshards just like CP would be amazing even if both where behind the lvl 50 wall.

As consoles don't (Yet) have addons please console yourselves...

Anyway as suggested highlighting the skyshard and lorebook locations on the map post discovery for alts on that account is fair. (PC users get to use addons for the same effect from the start.)

As for automatically maxing a skill... As I posted in another thread, sure for 500cp per skill line that has already been maxed per alt.
This helps prevent skill leveling abuse and gives the choice of higher CP skills on all lv 50's or an alts single skill line maxed. A good balance IMHO.

What is up with everyone saying NO? Does it hurt you if Zos gives everyone the option to make gathering Skyshards / Mage Guild lore books easier? No it does not!! This is a real pain in the butt for people on Consoles who don't have addons to help us out. It is boring and tedious and by no means "Playing the game" as you would say. 'Playing the Game" for some of us means running dungeons, PvP'ing , completing new DLC content... NOT running around old zones we have seen a thousand times over just so we can collect a few things we need to be competitive..... SO boring!!

Once again for all you people saying no... just turn the option off and continue doing it the old way if that is what you consider "Playing the game"!

Eidetic memory should be account wide, that way I can get those impossible to get to books behind the Daggerfall walls in Cyrodiil on all my AD and EP toons.

ZOS should make them available on the outer gate like they did for EP area.

Yes, the accomplishment that my characters have gone through to get their skyshards and lorebooks would be rendered meaningless ... because a forum-goer thinks they don’t have time and prefers playing the “it’s not fair” card instead.

What casual are you talking about?? I am working on my 2nd account have 3 max level characters (only cp 240 now) and my fist account I have 11 max level characters. The only thing I ever dread about making new characters so I can extend my play time in this game is gathering Skyshards and Mage guild Lore books. I have almost wanted to give up several times and play something else and I know I am not alone on this.

Do you know what happens to mmo's that become tedious and boring especially when it comes to leveling ALTS? They eventually die out because people get burned out on doing those tedious task. Plus you can't really skip those either because they are very much needed in order to get the most out of our characters.

Plus how in the world does the fact that my 8th magicka toon getting his/her skyshards and lore books faster diminish your accomplishment of getting those same things?? I would have had to do the exact same thing you did at some point anyways!!

We can level fighters guilds skills very fast right now and I don't hear anyone screaming "SLOW IT DOWN" all because it took them longer on their first toon than it does now.

Undaunted still takes awhile to level up but at least it can be fun even it I have done those dungeons a hundred times over.

The game has been out 3 years now on Console and it is time Zos steps up and changes things for Skyshards and Mages Guild lore books once we have done both at least once!!

You see, for you, running the dungeons over and over is fun. For other people it isn't. For me, finding skyshards on a new character is one of the best things about having a new character. Dead skyshards are sad skyshards.

If you are on your umpteenth character, you should by now have streamlined the process and realized that you only need a minimum of skill points for a build, and you will get over half of those simply by leveling to 50.

I did not mean to make it seem that I find running the same dungeons over and over fun but it is better than running from zone to zone picking up skyshards and mage books. At least with doing dungeons I don't have to keep my laptop on my lap so I can constantly keep checking maps for where the skyshards and mage books are located. On my 2nd account I am trying to make mostly stam toons so I can completely bypass mage book hunting :).

Why even create another character if you don't want to redo any of the things you did before?

Skyshards and Lorebook hunting is part of the MMO grind aspect of ESO. It makes it so that for new players there is always veteran players as well that need to do that content and it also makes it so that veteran players don't have yet another advantage in the game above CP.

Imagine going into Kyne and all of a sudden every single Lvl 10 Sorc has Meteor unlocked out of the gate without having to even do anything. Not only an advantage over new players but Stamina players as well which would still have to grind for Dawnbreaker.

Personally I think CP should be disabled as well until you're LvL 50 on a new character. It would put an end to max CP players standing around dueling noobs on their alts.

I personally think they should stay separate, however, I DO think that they need to add a way to obtain the skyshards behind alliance gate in a way that a solo player can do it (such as a smuggler tunnel or something), its really annoying when you get to those final 6 skyshards and you not only have to find a campaign that has your faction winning, but also willing to open the gates. After 3 years ive finally got all of them on my main but that was after constantly trying to get on during times when your faction would actually open the gates, which is uncommon, as they like want to have the enemies have at least 1 keep so the enemies have SOME incentive to fight, which really sucks if you are a completionist.

No, you have to get the skyshards first and then you unlock them in your acct. There is no engaging gameplay in redoing the skyshard hunt after the first time.

It's not purely a console issue relating to addons. There are plenty like me who play on PC but don't use addons to take shortcuts in gameplay, yet don't consider it a grind to play content more than once.

Where consoles can be a factor in this topic is that because of the type of games more typically found on console, console users tend to be more inclined to the argument that the player has e.g. found a skyshard and not the character than PC users. There are exceptions on both platforms, of course, but MMORPGs on PC are rooted in RPG games where everything is centred on the character.

As for the argument about options not hurting anyone, there are indeed instances where I happily accept that argument but not where the proposed change no matter how optional is one that totally changes the whole basis of the gameplay, especially in terms of dumbing it down. Something that is designed purely to speed up the leveling process only ever ends up causing more complaints about the lack of things to do because players have rushed through it all. If only more people would accept that MMORPGs are designed to be played for years rather than months let alone weeks and that they're about the journey rather than the destination then there would be a lot fewer complaints about the lack of "endgame" and a lot fewer people reporting that they're burnt out and want the whole game changed to suit their frustrations.

I'd be more than happy to have a summary sheet on the character selection screen showing the progress made on things like achievements across the account, that way players who only want to do things once can see exactly where they're at, but characters should still have to complete the achievements if they're going to benefit from the rewards attached to them. However, that's an issue on which people are divided and the present system giving shared champion points and dye unlocks, for example, while retaining character-specific achievements on things like skyshards and lorebooks strikes a fair balance in my view between the two approaches.

More like Im hardly casual and out thousands of hours into my games. Generally sitting in the top 1 percent of players for most games I play. I think since console doesnt get any add ons even ways to see skyshards easier like the add ons provide would be nice. I just took it a step further and not the first MMO to do so.

Those of you getting a sense of achievement from mindless skyshard farming which requires absolutely no skill what so ever and then think that we (those of us who want account wide skyshards) are some how deminishing this “achievement“ are misguided. Things like achievements, Undaunted, pvp rank etc require some sense of skill but skyshard farming is right up their with RP and should be choice.

Nothing to do with entitlement and more to do with catering to all your players. Iv stopped making new chars because I can’t be bothered to skyshard farm.

It's got nothing to do with skill. It's called a time sink in an MMO so that you have to invest in a new character instead of create one today and have everything maxed out a couple hours later. It's also not fair to new players in areas like Kyne for Vets to have things like Meteor already unlocked at Lvl 10.
