Free week, how to purchase just base game & is that on sale too ?

Huspand has been trying out the game for free and is interested in buying ( :) yay! Happy dance from wife! ) .

On the store page Morrowind+base game version is currently on sale for 20E and he might buy that: but would be nice to see options; if just the base game is also on sale, how much and how/where to buy ?
(Since he allready started with base game only and theres tons to do for a long time, he said he might buy just that for now if its cheap ).
Looks like the free week somehow overwrites buy options for base game, on eso store site base game not mentioned at all, and on steam the base game option just says "play for free". (He wants to buy eso store version though=not steam.)
Or maybe we are missing something obvious here ;) ?

Looking at the Steam listings for extra reference, I think that the "with Morrowind" edition has replaced just the base game as the default. Could be wrong, though.

Do they even sell the base game digitally any more? I always thought since Morrowind, the Morrowind version was the base game and any pre Morrowind base games still on sale were left over old stock.

Just buy the summerset base game, you get everything then I think.

I don't have the option to get just the base game either. I think as of the announcement of Summerset, they have now added Morrowind to the "base game" in the same way that GW2 added Heart of Thorns to their base game when they released Path of Fire.

20E is a pretty sweet deal!

ah,could be that Morrowind is now the base game for digital purchase?
If so, wierd though that free to play weekend players get old base game areas only and the Coldharbour start.

Yeah still, 20E for Morrowind is a very good deal . (huspand cant go Summerset not to bust our budget, = If anyone is gonna get Summerset soon its gonna be me with extra pre-order goodies :P )

its more economical to preorder the incoming summerset edition tbh. especially if the intention is to continue playing the game, you want to most recent pack. You can buy it via steam, or from this site.

You can also subscribe to the game. Then you get base game and all dlc plus a number of other benefits. Chapter (Morrowind and Summerset) are not included.

The best option for cost is probably to buy the new Summerset expansion, as was previously noted here. You have to remember that it's not just new areas you're getting with the DLCs, it's armor sets, subclasses, abilities - a lot of those change early game, and are best started off leveling with everything else, not after.

As far as digitally, this will also be the most cost effective, especially if you plan on buying Summerset or Morrowind in the future. Digitally, you could wait for a sale (which may or may not include any DLCs), but that could either be soon or not come for a while. The only other real option I can think of is looking through some bargain bins for a physical copy, perhaps at a used game store. Good luck if you're looking for a PC copy though - haven't seen a physical PC copy of ESO... well, ever, actually. I've seen pictures though so I'm pretty sure they exist. ;)

As other people have said it looks like the only option for digital copies is to buy the base game with either Morrowind, Summerset or both.

But you can still find boxed copies for sale online and possibly (depending on where you are) in stores which might be cheaper. Although from a quick look the cheapest I could find a copy from a reliable seller was £9.99, and Morrowind + the base game is only £13.39 in the sale so at the moment I think that's a better deal.

You still have to buy a copy before you can subscribe.

Some online stores still sell the non-Steam base game, e.g. DLGamer for 10€.

Generally speaking, if you're looking for a game try https://isthereanydeal.com. They list prices across tons of stores. Most stores say on the game's page what kind of DRM their key uses (Zenimax Online launcher or Steam for example).

    Thanks both :)
Looks like either Morrowind or DLGamer it is. (Im only the research assistant here untill huspand comes from work soon..)
I did find some retailers here in Finland still selling base game but they were all 20E or more.

& Personally I`d recommend at least Morrowind for everyone thinking of buying ;)

My suggestion would be to get Morrowind now and if he is still playing in a year he can pre-order the next chapter for a (likely) free upgrade to Summerset. If you play together, you can craft his jewelry if he earns it. :)
