Will we have to buy Summerset to experience the new jewelry crafting system?

To be fair, they can make the stations unusable if you don't have Summerset. We already have thieves troves in base game zones that you can't open without the DLC.

I don't know if that's what they're going to do, but they could.

Most professions are "discovered" by either reading books (e.g. Alchemy increased to 3) or by deconstructing. So they could make you take a starter quest in Bummerset, or just make it like other crafts and you start leveling jewelcrafting as soon as you deconstruct something.

Similar to outfits, I think the system should just be added to the game, without an attempt to gate it behind Bummerset.

most likely you don't need this dlc to do jewelry crafting

I'm sure they will add a "Jewelry station" to each of the crafting stations in the world.

I would suspect that in order to craft or add the traits using the transmute, then you would have to have the chapter.

Question is will they allow people to purchase from crafters and use the pieces without owning the chapter. My guess is that they would as it does make the new items available to all.

You can transmute items if you don't own Clockwork City if you or your guild has a Transmute station. You can craft from stations attuned to DLC sets that you do not own.

Since jewelry will be added to crafting stations that already exist, I don't see how this would NOT be part of the base game.
You will only be able to craft and upgrade jewllery if you own Summerset.

If you don't own the expansion, you will still be able to trade for jewllery with other players who can craft it.

And yes, as with any other craft, jewelers will be able to sell their wares to other players who do not own the DLC.

I wonder about the transmute or if because the Jewelry crafting adds in 6 additional traits. You have to know the traits to use Transmute, so if you do not know Jewelry Crafting you can not add the traits.

Or is it like the glyphs since the three traits we have already are part of that, so will the new traits also be applied glyphs. Even then you will have to learn the new ones to make them, but could you apply a glyph that is made. all questioons to be answered.

I think it will be like gear and we will have to research traits. We already have the 3 base traits on several items, so keep a junk ring and necklace with each and start researching as soon as the Chapter drops. Then run around the world and farm jewelry to get the other traits.

I'm sure people will figure out which traits to prioritize research on when it hits the PTS.

It is possible they add it in ala Imperial and Morag Tong conversion.

    Guys... No.

Its going to be an important mechanic of the game and thus will be included into the base game update, which is free. Please stop going full bore doomsday just cause you dont like zos for not giving you free chapters.

Doubtful. There may be a jewelry crafting station inside Summerset but it will most likely be exactly like with Morrowind. It's a base game update that all can use, but the particular crafting station used will either be inside the new zone and/or they will placeable inside houses.

I'd expect you'd be able to pay someone to craft jewellery for you.

But you wont be able to transmute without first having learnt the traits, that I am not sure about, if jewellery will be still limited to the three traits or if they will drop in more traits now.

I would also expect that you will be able to buy a jewellery crafting station probably for 1000 master writs from the master writ vendor. I for example don't own the clockwork city DLC but I am constantly transmuting my stuff at my Guilds crafting house.

When they added poison making in dark brotherhood it was a base update to all alchemy stations, and even nightshade was added to all zones. It seems easy to assume that jewelry crafting will likely be added to blacksmith stations so that zos doesn't have to update literally every crafting station for zone sets and in cities.

I imagine if they could implement it in a way that locks it behind the expansion, they will. But honestly, it's like with outfits or transmutation--it'll probably would be too difficult to implement that way as well as doing do would involve the big risk of pissing off the player base.

More importantly, locking it behind the expansion would be setting up a P2W situation, because of how profoundly jewlery crafting will likely change meta.

We know it's an advertised feature of the Chapter and is phrased as "CRAFT YOUR OWN JEWELRY"
    https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/updates/chapter/summerset

So there are strong hints about it being exclusive to Summerset's purchase and that it's a personal, non-transferable system.

I also know I've already hired a coracle so I can float down the stream of tears resulting from those two revelations once they've been overwhelmingly confirmed.

Yes! Like any expansion in any (and every other game), all new features require purchasing the expansion. You can't get everything for nothing!

I find it funny that eso has become to use more of a free to play model even tho you have to buy the base game of eso. Tera on the other hand is free to play but all content is free as is neverwinter the only thing on the store are cosmetics and some services race change name chasnge erlite status etc

@Narvuntien We know they will be adding more because it was mentioned during the announcement Twitch stream. The number of Traits will be bumped up to nine, like the armor and weapon pieces.

I heard there is a starter quest for the skill line only available in summerset. I also heard you can touch your nose with one hand and hit the E with your pinky toe to improve rng for gold mats when refining. Additionally, my info is exactly as valuable as the rest of this thread. With that in mind it should be noted that my info is definitely nonsense and completely useless.
