Trait Research for Jewelry

It occurred to me part of the reason they bumped up the number of Jewelry traits to nine was so that it would match the other pieces as far as trait requirements for sets. EX: Twice-Born Star Jewelry would still require nine traits. So I'm expecting to have to research all over again if I want to make TBS rings. I don't believe anything has been released on the subject yet but if anyone knows of something, please feel free to share. As it is, I'm planning to hold on to a few junk rings and necklaces of the existing traits, just in case.

I'm excited and frightened at the same time. The trait they mentioned, the one that increases damage as a target gets lower health, might be great for some people.

Though, a Sorc with an active execute ability, a passive execute, and then those traits on the jewelry.... yikes.

We'll probably have some traits that are more useful than others just like with armor and weapons. I'm wondering if the inevitable catch is that non-vanilla traits will only drop in Summerset, but I guess we'll see.

Considering we will only have 2 pieces of jewelry to research (neck and rings) I don't expect it to be half bad, particularly if you have ESO plus. The first few traits will be the easiest and we'll be at 6 traits researched after 2 weeks.

will it be ingots we're using to make this stuff?

    how many for a cp160 ring - 120, necklace - 150?

how many alloys to gold it out - 8, or even more...

thankfully most the sets I use are only six trait sets...

what's six trait research equal - 30 days or so?

    Research without any reductions is 6h, 12h, 24h, 2d, 4d, 8d, 16d, 32d, 64d

So even without any time reductions you'd have 6 traits after 15 days and 18 hours.

And if this goes like the other crafts, there's 20% reduction passive from skill points and 10% from ESO+ (and a cap of max research time at 30 days).

It's too bad gold mats are going to be locked behind battleground performance. Okay, so I made that up. But wouldn't that be something? Transmute stones to get us to pvp, storage chests for tel var in pvp and now jewelry mats for battleground right?

IF it's really just another crafting skill, I'll make night silence on day 2, seducers on day 3 and then I'll wait for 6 and 9 traits to kick in. I wish I had been able to do that when I was leveling up.

We really don't know what we are up against here, but having 1 arcane, robust and healthy necklace and ring ready to go makes sense.

    Fixed that... oh, wait.

Probably new mats, distinct from smithing. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess, 100 for rings, 120 for necks. But, I honestly don't know.

I think the upgrade mats were identified in a datamine. I can't remember now, but it was various precious stones or something. So, probably unique metals as well, like Gold, Silver, Adamantine. Probably some rare stuff we've never heard of before, or stuff synced up with the existing tiers, like "voidsilver," and "ruby gold."

I see Copper/Bronze/Silver/Gold as the tempers for upgrading more than as mats for crafting TBH.

    Here you are.

    Spoiler just in case:
    Spoiler
    Antimony
    Cobalt
    Zinc
    Chromium
    Iridium
    Terne
    Zircon
    Orpiment

Interestingly there are only eight materials mined when we were told there will be nine traits. So even if those are all trait stones instead of upgrade materials or base crafting materials, we're still missing one.

The ninth trait item could very well be fortified nirncrux, which is already in game.

Speaking of, remember when that was first added, and you had to get the first research item from a quest? And then it was just buying/trading with eveyone else to get the full set? Where do you think we will get these new traits to research?

Currently most sets only drop jewelry in one trait based on armor weight. Will each of these get 2 more possible traits? Will you need to farm nonlinked set jewelry like Trainee, or maybe random non-set junk? And will those only drop in the Summerset zone? If ZOS wanted to really make players grind, new trait jewlery will only drop from the new trial.

Jewelry Crafting is probably going to be very similar to the current Crafting experience, as researching of the existing items goes, only one ring and one necklace at a time.

I am basing this on that you can currently only research one dagger at a time, but can research one dagger and one sword at the same time.

The time needed to trait research 18 more traits that would be 9 for Necklaces and 9 for Rings.

With ESO+ and Max crafting skill points in to researching, it would be 70d 00h 45m days to complete all 9 traits for crafting Jewelry.

    hYpDemI.jpg

So a its going to be a grind for items to research and then waiting or Research Scrolls.

You still have have to get the 18 items to research, and get the new materials to craft the item,

Currently the most expensive Research Scroll is 5000 Crown and only removes a maximum of 15 days from the time line.

I made a thread discussing all of the implications of treating Jewelry like crafting. But then the mods took my thread and hid it in the Crafting Section of this forum. Even though the crafting section if for existing game features, not upcoming ones.

You are right, there are lots of implications of crafting we need to talk about.
    • Will the jewelry stations be put next to the old "in world" crafting stations?
    • Will deconstructing rings give a chance to get tempers and material?

I hope we can discuss those things on the main forums.

We can probably narrow down the new traits.

We know healty, robust, and arcane will be the base three. They might also add an intricate to go along with ornate.

Bloodthirsty was already revealed. This along with the base traits tells us it just won't be a copy of the armor traits.

Let's look now at the traits common to both weapons and armor: training, infused, and nirnhoned. A little boring, but I can see training carrying over. Infused would once again increase the enchantment. But then what about nirnhoned? There's no stat to boost for jewelry like weapons or armor. Maybe nirnhoned would take the place of infused, or maybe it will make set bonuses stronger. That would be interesting. Or maybe make it the tri-stat trait.

So that still leaves us with at least two, maybe 3 traits. The one they revealed is a damage type, so probably a defensive trait is in the mix. Something the increases your armor rating, or likely something that grants protection or a shield when your health drops low.

What else could the last trait/s do? Help blocking or add regen? I don't think they would duplicate enchantment effects. Healing, received or done, might be a safe bet. Of course I don't know if any of these would be worth the loss of stats.

Another thought: is this going to be a new skill line? Will we need to stockpile skillpoints as well as mats, or is it going to share with, say, Blacksmithing?

I'm going to say yes to both of those. 1 because they mentioned you would be able to craft jewelry for existing sets, so it makes sense the jewelry stations will be added along the other stations.
    2. because that's how you level all other equipment, along with enchanting, so I don't see them stepping away from that for no good reason.
Another thought: is this going to be a new skill line? Will we need to stockpile skillpoints as well as stats, or is it going to share with, say, Blacksmithing?

I'm sure it's going to be its own kill line, so I'm currently working on finishing quest lines on my crafter so I'll have enough skill points when it comes out.

Wait, what? We will have to research for jewelry too? Well considering I wasted a year on that trash before and we really don't have more than a couple of mediocre sets, I'm not really feeling inclined to do it again. I mean for anyone who is at the tail end of researching or already done, they know this is a complete time sink. Having to do it again? Not appealing at all. I'm out.

No, I'm thinking about how much I'm going to need to save up if the new trait drops are inaccessible or close to it. :S And wondering if I should start saving my vouchers now in case they put a Transmute-equivalent station there.
