I doubt it's possible to do this with an add-on, but you should look into it yourself. It's a highly peculiar need and so you should not expect someone else will jump to do it for you.

There was no expectation, rather there was a polite request.

It doesnt matter if its only pixels or not. People with a phobia simply cant withstand to see those creatures.

There are a lot of mmorpgs out there which make use of giant spiders. I don't even know why. Anyway, a few years ago I read an article about this topic, which stated there was a mmorpg (I dont remember its name) which replaced all spiders and crabs with other creatures. After this change that mmorpg was said to have a 10% player increase.

I dislike spiders as well. Video games versions and pictures do not really bother me but the real ones do. The larger they are, the more they disgust me. If I were to encounter a car-sized spider in real life, I would run away, while screaming like a little girl.

Fact: most people dislike spiders. Comes from our genetic coding. Our brains are designed to dislike crawling and scuttling.

Also fact: people with specific phobias can't just "get over it". It is almost identicle to having a panic attack and telling the person "just calm down." It takes counseling, exposure therapy, medications, and many other treatments (sometimes multiple for one person) just to be able to deal with it.

While I'm not going to sit here and tell zos not to make giant spiders (as others mentioned, staple RPG element and is going nowhere), I think it'd be fair to stop telling the OP to "seek help" or get over it. It's also a fair and genuine request of an addon writer's time.

No one cares so it's in a spoiler: I have apiphobia, and it is typically triggered by buzzing because I got stung in my ear as a child. I have panicked and ran into traffic due to a sudden wasp near my ear.

Folk who haven't encountered phobias cannot begin to understand what it's like and they are usually the ones who proffer "get over it" commentary.

I feel for you, but there is one more problem with it.
Because of you (I do not blame) some game designers think spiders are scary and interesting. But they are not.
SPIDERS ARE BORING. VERY VERY BORING.
Most boring monsters in any game are spiders.
In ESO we have too much spider dungeons:
Spindleclutch I
Fungal Grotto II
Selene's web
Cradle of Shadows
Enough!
I hope at least new Summerset trial will be free of spiders.

I wonder if you could find the texture files on disk and change them, copy and rename some other object?

Replacing them with another monster is, I hope, an easy fix.

Maybe an .ini file with some of the more common phobias to set a per person filter?

I can relate with the OP, whilst no fear of bugs here, I have a strong foot to squash them, the Imperial Prison with all that flesh and disgusting sewage things makes me uneasy everytime I have to do the pledge. Like really disturbed at times. I suppose that means the graphic team did a great job to convey the experience they did since it makes us feel like that in real life, it's amazing actually. On the other hand, some landscapes and weather effects are so beautiful in ESO that can be super relaxing, like my favorite is when it's rainning, or by a waterfall. The spiders, the flesh, the waterfall, the rain, they are not there just for the sake of it, they were extensively researched and put together to create the environments we experience. I'm sure both realism and psychological effects where taken into consideration. That is more evident when you watch ESO live videos and they explain that yes they want to cause that effect where you feel claustrophobic or the music. You can almost say they are sadists lol so yes they took your fear of spiders and made it into the nightmarish experience that for most of us is just a pixel bug on the scream but it hits you very deep. They won't change it or tone it down, your discomfort was precisely what they wanted. Honestly my best unwanted advice for you is really get over it. There was a bunch of stuff that caused discomfort in my life, and some still do, but the most I exposed myself to them I won them over buddy. The feeling of freedom is such a release that you must experience for yourself. Trully, don't let anyone make it complicated or impossible for you to win your fears. Go to Spindlecrotch and destroy every single disgusting bug there. You only have to gain. You are master of our own brain.
