5000 Crowns fora Merchant, worth it?

New player on PS4 but I've played on PC in the past and its been annoying having to go back to a town to sell/repair my stuff. The merchant seems like a great quality of life feature but man 5k crowns? Half of that and i'd be in. Just wondering what peoples thoughts on the price are? Worth it or no?

Crown store merchant can't repair your items. You can only sell items to that merchant.

Don't buy it if you assumed full functionality.

    totally true.

otoh, it's probably the best 5k i spent in the cash shop, once i got over the sticker shock.

suggest running with a group or a friend who has a merchant and seeing how it works for you, first.

    good luck.

Oh wow that actually makes the decision really easy for me. If I'm going to have to repair regularly then I'll be in town anyway to sell. I think my best bet is just to keep upgrading my bags/mount so I can just carry more and make less trips to town. I bought a ton of crowns the last time they were on sale so I'm itching to use them (bought some crates and got some of the cool mounts) but yea, ill wait until the merchant/banker is on sale if it even ever goes on sale. Thank you both!

Buy it actually. There's an addon called Auto Recharge: http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info1091-AutoRecharge.html

Buy Grand Repair Kits - cheaper over time, and no trips at all. With that addon it will auto repair and recharge weapons when they deplete to a certain % of your choice.

With Merchant sell junk to her. If you farm gear, lets say, Necropotence you can sell all junk to merchant. She's OP AF for money.

In 1 hour of farming Obsidian Scar with her (on Stamplar with VO - Speed buffs) I can make ~ 20k of just selling junk to her. + Necro gloves divines (20k more), jewellery etc from chests , Alkahest and useless soul gelms. You can assume 40-60k h/r there with a merchant.
Just remember to sell Gear to guild store.

She is imo, extremely worth it.

Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

The merchant should really have repair armor capabilities. If your gonna spend 5000 crowns it should be worth it. Plus by making it actually be able to repair that would make more people buy it thus making them more money and everybody would be happy.

Plus make the banker be able to pay your guild dues and sell stuff in your guild trader like real bankers in the city do.

Ive never seen those 2 lucrative at that price. Maybe for 1500 i might buy them.

Just teleport to Shornhelm in Rivenspire. Bank and benches are right next to wayshrine.

Reapers March is good place too.

They are tempting but why so much. I mean that's like $40 for a vendor. Is there any cooldown on the vendor or can I summon him/her whenever I want?

I didn't buy the Banker but I did purchase the Merchant. Completely worth it. I save a lot of time when grinding/farming, as I don't have to port back to town to empty my inventory.

Premium Merchants/Bankers were datamined awhile ago, but there hasn't been much on them in over a year I think. Pretty sure ZOS said they wanted to come up with something that makes them special(aka charging 7000 crowns per, for the option to fix equipment.)

Buy Grand Repair Kits - cheaper over time, and no trips at all.

do crafting dailies and you'll get tonnes of them. for free. while making xp and gold.

you dont need to repair that often either unless you're dying a lot and then you got other issues. the merchant allows you to clear your bags in the field. its so worth it.

Yea I don't do dailies or anything yet since I'm still new to the PS4 version so I'm just leveling up a Magplar currently. The crowns went on sale a few months back and I bought the most expensive one and then another smaller pack and ended up having close to 40k. Now I'm only at 27k after I bought a few crates but at least I got some nice mounts. So being as I paid less than half price for the crowns (and had a 20% off PSN code) if I got the merchant it would only be like spending roughly 2000-2500 crowns. Not bad me thinks.

I got the Merchant and Banker both.

When I go gold Grinding, the Merchant is insanely useful - I end up with 20k or more an hour without having to leave. No travel time, no major load screens, just Gold.

Banker is great too, for when my inventory starts to fill up with Purple Loot that has good Traits. Extra Gold, or extra Gear.
It's also useful being able to drop between zones, pulling out maps without having to pop in to a Town with a Bank.

The Merchant is a convenience - She buys items, but does nothing else.

The Bank is a convenience - He lets you use your bank, but does nothing else.

Both can make things run smoother, and can make your trips more efficient.
I usually also have a few dozen spare Repair Kits, soul gems, and lockpicks in my bank in case I need them.

Both are also useful if you need to make up some quick gold or supplies to jump on an Offer in Zone.

The merchant is totally worth the 5000 crowns. Her not repairing gear is not that big of a deal as long as I remember to go to a regular merchant when my session is over. Many of us blow 5000 on crates of unknown without even thinking. Spend those crowns on something that is actually useful.

The way I manage my toon by toon inventory makes it a low priority for me to get the merchant. Most of my toons have maxxed inventory, so I rarely run out of inventory space, and when I do it it's usually because I've got a bunch of stolen goods that need to be fenced and the merchant can't help me with that.

The banker on the other hand is a god-send. When you're doing writs, crafting and research on multiple toons it saves soooooo much time not having to run to the bank for everything.

But really it's how you play the game and what would be more beneficial for you

I totally resisted buying her for so long. 5000 crowns seemed well over priced considering she will not repair you like a normal merchant... However, one day I succembed and it has added a lot to play. No longer do I delete tons of stuff i could get in-game gold from, no longer do i send tons of emails to another account just so i can keep items... i just call her out and seel the stuff thats crap, earn the gold, and that eases inventory so i can bank the other stuff at a later moment.

In the long run, both the merchant and the banker have been worth it.

I only bought the banker to place in my home. My home has a real merchant right outside (Mathiisen Manor), so I can just walk out of the doors to repair and sell stuff after a dungeon/trial run.

I have to admit though that there have been times where I'm running multiple dungeons in a row (6 key runs for example) and some of my characters get over encumbered with the amount of loot, so I end up trashing a lot of white weapons and armor to make room for better items.

But I figure that I'd prefer to keep my 5k crowns and deal with inventory space every now and then.

Did that for a long, long time and when I finally caved and bought the merchant, I was nicely surprised by how much those whites added up to. I regret not caving in sooner.

It's damn expensive but I find I use it a lot.

When running dungeons with friends it means if one of us is over on bag space we can cash out during the dungeon rather than going back to town after every run.

That's fair, but it's only occasionally that I run into inventory issues. Also some friends that I run with already have the merchant so even when I do run into inventory issues, I can just mooch off of them.

It's only when I'm running with a PUG that I have to trash white items (usually keep an eye not to trash ornate, though).

Heh, that works too. :) I generally am out there solo when doing my crafting/farming runs so it's nice to be able to not have to hit a town. How spoilt are we? LOL
