An Early Reminder to Avoid Toxicity When Summerset Launches.

It's important for us to visit this topic as a community now and again to fight the build up of unnecessary toxicity. When the expansion/chapter launches there will be quite a bit of people playing. A large amount of old players will be returning to the game while new players join for the very first time. It is important that we respect these returning and new players for the betterment of our community.

Here's some things we should consider:
  • Try not to break players immersion with silly comments or heinous acts
  • Don't berate new and old players for lack of in-game knowledge
  • Always offer help when you can - you were them once.
  • Try to discourage others from being toxic by actively intervening in toxic behavior
  • Remember to ignore the players that refuse to stop being toxic.
  • Allow low CP players to join you in harder content. Sure, it may be a carry but it's fun!
  • Grouping is good and friendly.
  • Try not to flaunt your collector's edition items too much.
  • Don't argue in zone chat.
  • Remember, there's a real person behind that character.
  • Don't be racist, ableist, sexist, or mean.

Remember, we're all here to enjoy this game and the one thing it does have is a good community. As it grows in popularity it is important for us to keep that community intact.

Okay, can you click the agree button for the original post please? Assuming you do agree with not being toxic, that is.

Oh, so it's a farming reactions thread?
    Wonderful.

No, not at all. I am just saying if you guys agree with it wouldn't you click the agree button?

EDIT: Unless you advocate toxicity, that is.

"Try not to flaunt your collector's edition items too much."

What is this about? Seems awfully presumptuous about other people's intentions. One key to not creating a toxic environment is to avoid making presumptions about other people via projecting your own baggage onto them. If they bought something, they are allowed to enjoy it without being judged.

Yeah some of those points are pretty absurd

Why should I carry a noob? I've spent 2 and a half years carrying hundreds of people through vet DLC dungeons and the works, leave me alone and let me quest in peace

I will show off all my collector's edition items (if i had them, im not that dumb though) and if some noob wants to cry about it because they feel offended then I'd suggest they step away from the game for a second and think about the fact they are being offended by pixels on a screen

The rest are okay though I guess. Then again it's nice to read a bit of drama in zone chat from time to time

Remember, we're all here to enjoy this game and the one thing it does have is a good community. As it grows in popularity it is important for us to keep that community intact.

*Some of us that make silly comments are the ones that try to lower tension in others to kind of de escalate stress among others and rising tempers.
*For in game knowledge I have gotten accustomed to realizing that just because someone is max level doesn't mean they know everything in this game and I would happily share tips of things they may not know. With this I know I can possibly make the game more fun for others in my own kind of way.
*Obligation of helping is as feel compelled to, but make sure to have fun while doing so and uplift them if you can.
*There are many ways others can battle against toxic behavior, many ways to go about it but many ways of pondering on what is the best way to deal with it.
*There is times where someone is being toxic and beyond just being toxic and being simply dangerous but that varies on situations.
*Overland and public dungeons are places none of us have any control over people joining in on.
*As for grouping is good and friendly I say find people that click and such. Sometimes it is better in a group, and sometimes better to branch out and go small or go solo. It really depends.
*As for the try not to flaunt your collector's edition items too much... who can say why some people do the things they do.
*Honestly everyone argues on zone chat, for valid and not so valid reasons. There are times to stand up and others to be quiet. It all varies.
*A person is a person. But remember there are bots in eso that farm... those are not real people... those are just coded.
*I would love it if we could all just get along, no fighting among each other... just peace. Still a touchy subject about saying "ableist" no matter which side says it from what I can tell.

It might be an mmorpg, doesn't mean we can see everyone going of any particular direction versus another. It would be nice if eso keeps improving upon community wise. But at the same time I take it with a grain of salt knowing of human element that there is in there. Still knowing this doesn't mean I give up on people, cautious but not without a caring heart to care for another and if able to and willing will pursue causes to help others. This of course is of free will doing so.

There is. The mobile site doesn’t give access to it though, you need to be on the desktop version to access it in your settings. Does only work for postings and not for threads though AFAIK, so it may not help much in some of the notorious cases.

Edit: Just tested it, it’s under Settings -> Ignore List, and you have to fill in the user name without the leading @ character. It does only work for listings and not for the starting post of a thread though, and you still will see the topic on the board overview.

I agree with many of OP's points because there's plenty to be said for being helpful, friendly and welcoming to new, returning and current players.

    This one:
    • Try not to flaunt your collector's edition items too much.

Strays into "mind your own business" territory. People can flaunt whatever they like, this is a game not a communist haven.

I do appreciate your concern, but may I remind you as well your statement applies every time, be that launch expansion or not. It matters not. It is a common sense/Manners and we already have the Terms of Service&Privacy Policy.

Wow, I am appalled at your advocacy for a toxic environment.

I am appalled at your advocacy for a politically correct cotton wool environment.

And I am appalled at his blatant, ongoing campaign for stars. At least I assume that's why he keeps creating these threads. He's earned a lofty position, finally, becoming second person to ever land on /ignore. Pity it doesn't completely make a poster invis but there it is.
