I never said this thread was, I was just noting it should be a rule

Okay, can you click the agree button for the original post please? Assuming you do agree with not being toxic, that is.

Oh, so it's a farming reactions thread?
    Wonderful.

No, not at all. I am just saying if you guys agree with it wouldn't you click the agree button?

EDIT: Unless you advocate toxicity, that is.

"If you don't click agree, you hate babies. You don't HATE babies, do you?"

Maybe people don't advocate being needlessly told how to act by a stranger on the internet. You are assuming the people on the forums make up a section of the toxic player base, which is quite insulting to anyone that keeps their head down in games.

No one needs a post like this in the slightest. People will act right because they always do, or they will (possibly) read this and ignore it. This thread changes nothing about people's attitudes.

Thats a really really early reminder there, Knowledge.

Really, really early. Launch isn't until May 21 for PC/Mac.

Its almost like you just wanted to farm reactions and insult anyone who calls you out on it by insinuating they support toxic behavior. Sorry, a leopard changing its spots and all. Maybe this is the most genuine, helpful post to be genuine and helpful, but if so it makes a nice change of pace from the usual bait.

Reminders about how to be a decent and polite community are all well and good but,
    A. Morrowind at launch was actually pretty decent. I saw lots of people in chat willing to help others and correct the trolls. No special reminders needed.
    B. Everything else is pretty much repeating forum and game rules. Like, I'm glad you know the rules. So do we. Report the players in zone chat who ignore the rules. Move on.
    C. Did I mention that this is a really early reminder? Maybe you should have saved this for closer to launch?

I'm operating under the assumption that this thread will get reposted with slight differences or will get necro'd.

In truth, its not an awful reminder (with the exception of a few items and the OP's track record that makes it very hard to take seriously.) Its good to think about how to be welcoming and supportive to new and returning players.

My main objection is that this is 2 months ahead of launch. 2 weeks to 2 days would have been far more appropriate and more likely to have the desired impact. That is, assuming the desired impact is to create a less toxic environment for new and returning players and not also a passive-aggressive commentary on how the forum community is reacting to the OP's habit of posting bait/dead horse threads for "debate".

I'd be fine with the OP choosing to post this closer to launch when it might actually have an impact on behavior at launch. Posting 2 months before launch and expecting anyone to remember it is just silliness.

    TL;DR - Don't be a c*nt

    Word.

That's the one thing that lets this game down sometimes - the community. :/

Thankfully, most of the time this game has made me cry with laughter due to interactions with others <3 , it's just now and again you get downright arseholes trying to stir the pot or being rude for absolutely no reason. I always try and defend the 'underdog', and this has led to many so-called 'elite' (lol) players jumping down my throat.

    Like I give a rat's bum. :D

TL:DR; Be nice. We're all nerds here. <3

It's important for us to visit this topic as a community now and again to fight the build up of unnecessary toxicity. When the expansion/chapter launches there will be quite a bit of people playing. A large amount of old players will be returning to the game while new players join for the very first time. It is important that we respect these returning and new players for the betterment of our community.

Here's some things we should consider:
    • Try not to break players immersion with silly comments or heinous acts
    • Don't berate new and old players for lack of in-game knowledge
    • Always offer help when you can - you were them once.
    • Try to discourage others from being toxic by actively intervening in toxic behavior
    • Remember to ignore the players that refuse to stop being toxic.
    • Allow low CP players to join you in harder content. Sure, it may be a carry but it's fun!
    • Grouping is good and friendly.
    • Try not to flaunt your collector's edition items too much.
    • Don't argue in zone chat.
    • Remember, there's a real person behind that character.
    • Don't be racist, ableist, sexist, or mean.

Remember, we're all here to enjoy this game and the one thing it does have is a good community. As it grows in popularity it is important for us to keep that community intact.

OP, how dare you tell me what I can and cannot listen to. Toxicity is one of my favorite SOAD songs and I'll listen to it whenever I damn well want to >8(

...All 'silliness' aside, let's break down your demands:
    1. Try not to break players immersion with silly comments or heinous acts.
    2. Don't berate new and old players for lack of in-game knowledge.
    3. Always offer help when you can - you were them once.
    4. Try to discourage others from being toxic by actively intervening in toxic behavior
    5. Remember to ignore the players that refuse to stop being toxic.
    6. Allow low CP players to join you in harder content. Sure, it may be a carry but it's fun!
    7. Grouping is good and friendly.
    8. Try not to flaunt your collector's edition items too much.
    9. Don't argue in zone chat.
    10. Remember, there's a real person behind that character.
    11. Don't be racist, ableist, sexist, or mean.
    1. So, suppress people's right to freedom of speech despite the option of chat customization, and also no thieving or using the blade of woe. Gotchya. Guess we should ban the majority of the Great Houses, the Dark Brotherhood, the Thieves Guild, Sir Cadwell, and so on from the game then.
    2. I rarely, if ever, see this. Though if anyone is ever that much of an arse, just ignore/block them. Problem solved~
    3. Naturally. Always have, always will. Just don't help to the point where it negatively affects your personal playtime or resources. And don't hesitate to cut that person off should they take a mile when you offer an inch (which happens often).
    4. No thanks. Once again, I'm not for policing others speech and would rather not add fuel to the fire. If said person(s) are being toxic I'd rather simply block or ignore them.
    5. No brainer.
    6. Define low CP. If you're below cp160 and the dungeon in question is a vet level 2 (well, certain vet level 2's), or a vet DLC dungeon? No.
    7. So long as it's not from randoms who don't message you as to why they want to group and constantly spam you. Then it's just annoying.
    8. If you're so sensitive to the point that pixels on a screen hurts your ego that much, consider uninstalling and engaging in self-reflection.
    9. There's nothing wrong with debate and discussion. And if you don't like that? Switch chat tabs. Did you know that you can fully customize them?
    10. Sometimes I wonder...
    11. Well, of course. Also don't be demanding, controlling, self-entitled, or totalitarian.

Strays into "mind your own business" territory. People can flaunt whatever they like, this is a game not a communist haven.
The people who are usually helpful, friendly and welcoming will continue to be without any need for threads from the op. The people who aren't usually helpful, friendly and welcoming won't change because the op posted a thread farming for "agrees" and/or stars in the forum that the large percentage of players never visit.

Spoken like a true self-appointed leader. Community was here before you arrived and will remain after you've moved on. It will remain intact without any assistance from any single individual.
    • Allow low CP players to join you in harder content. Sure, it may be a carry but it's fun!
I'm not sure why you included the point above, as I'm fairly certain you've never carried anyone, anywhere, anytime. And low level players don't necessarily want it handed to them. Some actually want to earn their way.
    • Try not to break players immersion
You're worried about immersion, but many of your threads are engineered to promote conflict.
    • Don't berate new and old players for lack of in-game knowledge
    • Remember, there's a real person behind that character.
This should also include not spreading misinformation or touting personal opinion as truth. It's equally not unreasonable to expect at least a basic level of in-game knowledge and understanding.

Being a real person is well and good, but be a real person the provides value to the community in the process.

Something else "we" all should consider, don't you think?

I tend to think you're trying to recruit the masses under the guise of "warm and fuzzy" feelings and "what's best for the community/game as a whole," trying to gain support for your other recommendations about P2W, accelerated progress, dumbing down combat, and half a dozen other topics posted that might appeal to others like you.

Do not presume to speak for all of us. You would be gravely mistaken (again).

Now, other folk that pop up in his/her threads, some of them have been worthy debaters. So, it's a good solution for me. I don't need to reach for the pain relievers but get to see what others have to say on topic.

Interestingly enough, @Numerikuu , when I do see this, it typically involves someone in zone chat spreading misinformation like wildfire in hopes of gaining a following based on their advice.

After seeing enough *** spouted, experienced players with actual knowledge will generally step in. So in that regard, it actually a positive thing. At that point, the one spouting misinformation deserves whatever ass chewing they get.
I see OP stepped up his game to farm points on the forum.

Good initiative, and I would agree.. but, unfortunately, in a perfect world, perhaps. In the real world, there are just too many non-boy/girl scouts types. Gamers dynamic isn't all milk and honey, either. After years of ESO being active and there are still so many toxicity, bashing, badgering, bullying, you name it, still going on in the game on chats and whatnot. Heck, some folks were also mentioning they are receiving same sent by the in-game mail. Goodness.. You can't educate stupid. You can post the speed limit signs up everywhere, but folks will still speed. You can run ads after ads on this is your brain on drugs, but folks will still do illegal drugs and keep harming themselves. You can advocate "Can we all just get along and be friends," but sometimes with friends like that, you wouldn't need enemies. Well, that is why we have the option to turn off zone chat, blocking, or play the game sololy.
