Looking for some tips and suggestions for a Magplar rotation as I am struggling finding a good rotation bar Alcast's one.

    totally depends on your setup.
if you have force pulse as spammable, then its pretty much:
spear shard, blockade, vampires bane, puryfying light, 2-3 force pulses depending on your magicka pool (probably a heavy attack here) or buffs like rune focus. light attacks between every skill naturally.
other setup is the dot setup:
spear shard, blockade, shock clench, vampires bane, puryfying light, fire clench, lightning heavy attack. again light attacks between the skills.

With Witchmother's, Rune and Ele Drain you can maintain a force pulse rotation without heavy attacks:
Blockade - > Shards -> Vampire's Bane -> Rune Focus -> Bar Swap - > Purifying Light -> 3x Force Pulse - > Bar Swap & Repeat (extra force pulse when Rune Focus doesn't need to be re-cast).

    With a heavy attack:
    Blockade - > Shards -> Vampire's Bane -> Rune Focus -> Bar Swap - > Purifying Light -> 2x Force Pulse - > Bar Swap -> Heavy Attack & Repeat

    I've been experimenting successfully with:
Blockade - > Shards -> Vampire's Bane -> Rune Focus -> Bar Swap - > Purifying Light -> 2x Dark Flare - > Bar Swap & Repeat (extra Dark Flare IF Rune Focus didn't need to be re-cast AND Acuity proc is active)

This last one works the best for me actually but I'm still testing it out in actual content to see how well it can work.

The double clench build above works too but the DPS is lower in my experience. It was better before off balance changes since we had 75+ in Thaum but now we're better off splitting evenly between Thaum and MaA.

yeah right, the dot build with double clench was better before the patch.
dark flare probably also works, but may be challenging for newer players to weave then.
force pulse spam is actually new to magplars since CwC and the asylum destro staves, but also works with other staves.
jabs as spammable will be great too with a lightning staff, but only works if you can go melee.

I always forget about sweeps since I always play ranged dps but the dps should be equal to that of a dark flare build with the added advantage of self-heals.

Sorc's are boring to play in my opinion and I find the crystal frag proc rotation feels awkward. If ZOS ever get pets to work in all fights I might consider running one probably, otherwise mine is just a vMA runner.

And I don't mind Nightblades but I'm honestly a little lazy, I like circular rotations so I don't have to think much.

Magplars appeal to me overall, I can pull sufficient DPS to not be a drag in a vet trial so why not run one. Leaderboard runs aren't my thing anyway.

Pre Rotation: Channeled Focus>Rearming Trap>Destro Ult
    1. LA>Blockade>LA>Blazing Spear>Bar swap
    2. LA>Vamp Bane>LA>Purifying Light>(LA>Force Pulse) x 4(usually 3 if you cast 2 skills on back bar after blockade)>Bar Swap

Rinse and repeat. You should alternate reapplying Channeled focus and trap on back bar every rotation. On the front bar make sure you wait till vamp bane has 2 seconds left before reapplying, you will have to cast it at random points during front bar rotation in order to max its uptime.

    If you don't mind Barswapping:
Apply channeld Focus before the fight... start with destroult

    Blockade -> Purifying Light -> Blazing Spear -> Vampire's Bane -> 3X ForcePulse -> Purifying Light -> Blockade -> Force Pulse -> Blazing Spear -> 2x Force Pulse -> Purifying Light -> Force Pulse -> Vampire's Bane -> Blockade -> Force Pulse -> Blazing Spear -> Purifying Light -> 3x Force Pulse -> Channeled Focus
    Repeat from the start.

This is a fixed 24 seconds Rotation that should maximize the uptime of every Dot besides Vampire's Bane. A higher Uptime on Vampire's Bane is not really possible as it's 10 seconds duration does not really fit in with the other stronger Dot's length. There is a way to get a full uptime on vampire's bane , but an additional forcepulse outdamages a slightly higher uptime on it. You can actually cast the second vampires Bane one second earlier and do the force pulse where you would vampire's Bane instead.
Note that i recast Channeled focus 2 seconds to early for it's 26 seconds duration. I do this for simplicity's sake and to receive a 100% uptime on it. If you don't want a 100% uptime you can replace it with forcepulse and replace a force pulse later on with channeled focus. If you need to heavy attack do it during the time when you plan to do at least 2 forcepulses.
The other problem with this rotation is that the asylum staff is currently bugged: If you swapcancel forcepulse you may cancel the proc of the staff's effect. If you have the perfected asylum inferno then change the trait to infused and put a magickasteal glyph on it.

    That's the complicated way though
(morph to crushing shock not force pulse btw. except for vma)

Excuse me while I cringe that it is advisable to use Force Pulse instead of our own class skills.
Make Rush of Agony "Monsters only." People should not be consecutively crowd controlled in a PvP setting. Period.

Do magplars use Force Pulse as the spammable instead of Puncturing Sweeps?

Puncturing sweep is impractical due to its limited range since there's no point in playing magicka melee when any stamina class can parse better. All in all Templar is slightly better than non-pet Sorcerer. I don't intend to play mine as ranged DD yet since I want to experience trials as healer for now, but I will probably revise my group supported DD build just in case.

I don't have perfected Asylum - that's one of the points of progressing this char - but I will make do with my current gear: 5 Julianos 4/3 IA w Maelstrom back bar 2 Skoria. I didn't see Ritual of Retribution in the recommended skills here so I guess I'l drop that to speed up my rotation. One other thing I could do is swap lightning front bar for inferno for better ST performance. What bar setup and skills should I use?

Ritual of Retribution actually does more damage over its full duration than a single Force Pulse however the thing that really prevents me from using it is it's magicka cost. I does to little damage for the amount it costs. And the lack of Barspace and some better skills (J-Beam, Rearming Trap)...

My preferred Bar Setup so far:
Inferno Front: Magelight, Forcepulse, Vampire's Bane, Purifying Light, J-Beam, Empowering/Crescent Sweep
Lightning Back: MageLight, Shield, Blockade, Blazing Spear, Channeled Focus, Destro Ult

Definitely Inferno front ... Lightning Backbar or Inferno Back bar that is the discussable Question.

To be fair that's also true of no pet sorcs, magblades and wardens. It's partly due to Asylum staves being so good. Everybody has to use some weapon skills.

I'm curious why people don't run Shards on the front bar over Bane? Then on boss fights you can run shooting star front bar, gives slightly more magicka for the spammables.

Personally I've found double inferno is the best. Partly because Acuity + BSW is also the best set combo from my testing.

One of the things I still need to compare is back bar inner light vs trap. Could be interesting.
