They aren't developers anymore. They are marketers and sellers of digital artwork.

They publicly said when they removed the sub that they needed other sources of income to keep making quality content. They lied on that part tho.

Every Free to Play MMOrpg I've played as given all it's future content (Think ESO's DLC) and large expansions (Think ESO's Morrowind) for Free with no charge.
Every Free to Play MMOrpg I've played has also offered a way to transfer In-Game currency, a better average on Premium Currency prices, and frequent In-Game discounts.
Every Free to Play MMOrpg has split PvP and PvE balancing by tweaking numbers, values, and effects in PvP to keep the two separate enough to assure fun content between both.
Every Free to Play MMOrpg has had less lag, more frequent updates, more intractable content, friendlier RNG, Smooth PUGs with ways to assure every Roll needed was properly filled, in-game Moderation, and quick responses to glitches and issues.
This isn't a Free to Play game. It's a AAA Game.
...Wait, what the ***?

Different teams work on different aspects of the game and in general the game is working fine. The only thing that annoys me about the game is the odd disconnect while in a big pvp battle.

Ya'll it ain't the developer's fault, it's the publishers, the shareholders, the (to quote Guillermo del Toro) "*** with the money" pushing the developers to keep pumping out overly monetized trash as the new priority in addition to and at the cost of new content and bug fixes while hiring no new people and pocketing all the profits.

Still laughing at the new crate announcement.
"If you want a taste..."

Doesn’t having to buy the game upfront still count as pay to play?
I mean, you gotta buy the game, and dlc, and chapters -
Or, buy the “plus” optional subscription and buy the Chapters.
That still sounds Pay to Play.

Generally, I've heard people describe the current setup as "buy to play" rather than "pay to play," to distinguish from the subscription model.

But when you point that out the whales get all protective about how it's just their choice and that there's nothing wrong with a) the game and its real life money economy and b) spending huge amounts of money on content that is easily made and not nearly 'worth' the asking price. Well, I'm around for long enough to know how this ends. It was still a good ride and it won't happen tomorrow, but the signs are up and very hard to ignore.

That makes it really sound like people are splitting hairs so thin they may cause an atomic blast as they try to explain the finer points of the differences.
