Stamina DK, as a place holder for stam dps. I also see many Stamsorcs, Stamplars and Stamblades.

On the magicka side, Magsorc as the always so popular ez mode, followed closely by Magblades.

Wardens are rare. I only know 2 players, play mag and/or stam Warden on an higher level. MagDks are dead this patch. Besides myself, I see very few players still trying to make Magplars work. They increased since patch, though.

More magsorcs than anything. Makes sense tho. Big shield and easy to get respectable DPS with just pet, DOTS, and heavy attacks. Perfect for beginner's and when you need DPS but also need that survivability for no death run achievements etc.

      • Templar: 269 (22%)

Exception made of Asylum Sanctorium, the diversity between the 4 original classes is actually well spread out. There have been no real shift to roles, with DKs sticking to tanks, templars to healers and NBs / Sorcerers being used as DDs. Only the warden is left out, as it doesn't really outshine any spec at anything, on top on requiring Morrowind, locking them at such a low percent.

It's just too bad the leader boards didn't differentiate between Magicka and Stamina builds. As Rich noted on ESO Live last night, the character he's taken through VMA most has been his Stamina Sorc.

I feel like I've been seeing mostly stamina DPS in random dungeons. Most likely since everyone has caught on that stam has higher DPS. Not nearly as many mag sorcs as a few patches ago, but that's just PC NA, maybe other servers are still sorc heavy.

Lots of sorcs but that could be inaccurate as I only really identify them by the pets. In my last trial run though we had 8 sorcs, was crazy.

Other than that I'd say I see a lot of nightblades. DK and templar mostly show up as tanks and healers, which is usually the smallest portion of any group (plus I usually play a tank or healer so I'm taking one of those spots and dont see many others).

Since I came back to the game (quit right after morrowind released, came back about a month ago), I've only grouped with MAYBE 3 or 4 wardens in pve dungeons and trials, so they're easily the most rare. I like that though, since it's my new main class and means I stand out more =P

Nice post! This is pretty consistent with what I’ve seen too. Also the amount of NBs is steadily increasing as people are figuring out how to play them and how great they are atm.

I can't tell anymore, so I'll just pick the easy mode class by default.

I try to remember what I see when I run around, and I think of StamSorcs, Templars, StamDKs, and StamBlades for the most part, though Wardens are becoming more prevalent.

You can always tell who's a Healer or Tank though, whenever you see Blue or Red balls floating around people.

Not too surprised that nearly 50% say Magicka Sorc! I’d say it’s very even between Mag Sorc/NB, with the amount of NBs obviously rising a lot due to them being stronger these days.

Sorc is a very noob-friendly class that lets you achieve adequate DPS with ease. Enough for all dungeon content. NB is a bit tougher to get used to but pulls significantly higher numbers than Sorc and with many other side benefits (offheals to group, increased speed, inherent Minor Beserk, etc). In endgame the divide in DPS is very noticeable between the two - NB all the way lol. In dungeons Sorc is perfect for those who don’t care for sweating over rotations and stuff like that.

Back when Mag Sorc was OP asf, everyone leveled them up and got used to their playstyle. I think this is why so many players still use Mag Sorc. They either don’t want to level up a Mag NB and learn the playstyle, or they’re newer players who read online that Mag Sorc is OP from years ago and then see a thread like this from recent times of 50% choosing Mag Sorc.

However I have also seen the amount of Mag NBs everywhere increase drastically in the past two patches. Also all of the experienced groups are using Mag NBs now in place of all but one Mag Sorc (still need 1 Mag Sorc for Conduit and Minor Prophecy,). Its always 1-2 Mag Sorcs in trials now, with a more optimized group having one.

Even in group finder PUGs I’m seeing plenty of Mag NBs now too. Yet because Mag Sorc is so noob-friendly, it currently is (and should remain) the most played. That 50% is def exaggerated though imo.

In the end this question should be split as Stam vs Mag, and Dungeons vs Trials. Otherwise ppl will default to Mag Sorc.

I just don't cause my NB is already a StamBlade. Using blades just feels better, even though I know my StamBlade is utterly terrible in end-game group content.

Stamblade is really good in endgame group content atm. Both Stam and Mag NB is insane. Don’t feel like you’re holding anyone back by using one :)

In dungeons you can use any spec you want. In trials just don’t choose Mag DK or Mag Warden (if they aren’t your friends you might get kicked).

It seems like there's lots of mag sorcs, but it might be so because mag sorc is easiest to detect: liquid lightning and/or pets. Only wardens are as easy to detect than sorcs.

Just last was in a trial with sorc healer who wasn't me. But yeah true it's minor, but won't get better without a trial group finder.
