(yer yer i know it's not as good as having an option to make the goblin chew off the thumbs of someone)
So I'm vet 12, Hero of EP, DC and AD by now and I've slowly been working my way through Cyro quests for the Tamriel Hero title. Most of them are rather boring, standard go there(in Cyro sometimes replaced with "ride half of the map to get there"), talk to this, bring this and kill these, nothing too interesting
But there's this one quest in Cropsford which just has me "o_O". In it, a woman asks you to poison a goblin who's a pet/friend of another citizen of Cropsford. Now, I understand the game isn't exactly based off My Little Pony, but so far I've really loved this one thing about ESO - choices. I've always been able to choose. Yeah, sometimes it was a choice between bad and worse, sometimes it was a very difficult choice(like between Shaza and Khali in Reaper's March, that one almost made me cry), but it was always there. It made me really happy, especially in comparison to Skyrim where I had like a dozen unfinished quests because I just couldn't bring myself to do what I had to in order to finish them(kill Paarthurnax, for example).
Now this quests feels like something right out of Skyrim, and this is not a compliment here. I can talk to the guy who's the goblin's friend, hear his opinion, I can ask the woman why she hates goblins so much(and get a not very convincing response along the lines of "THEY R BAD MUST DIE"), but you can NOT choose to spare the little guy. It's like they just forgot to put the option there. I understand this is probably not a big deal for 99% of players, but this seriously bothers me because it really doesn't fit into my image of my character. I also talked to my friends and it also really bothers some of them, so while I'm in the minority, I'm not completely alone. I've abandoned the quest for the timebeing, but that actually means I can't get Tamriel Hero - I have exactly 11 quests left for it, 1 more city in Cyro and this one, I'm gonna do the city today or tomorrow and be left just with this one quest>.<
Opinions/suggestions?
I discovered this quest by accident with a character I have now stopped playing. I did not do it then and I will not do it with the current character I am levelling. If it comes to a choice between feeling right with myself and some poxy title the former wins every time. I did not kill Paarthurnax either, in fact I did not like having to kill ANY of the dragons. Also, I quit playing Mass Effect 3 because I was forced into choosing between the Geth and the Quarians.
Its a game
Mass Effect is basically one game in three entries, like LotR. It was written as one coherent story. That's why I'm of the opinion that the game gives us a choice, you just started in the middle of it and missed vital elements.ViciousWayz wrote: »So I'm vet 12, Hero of EP, DC and AD by now and I've slowly been working my way through Cyro quests for the Tamriel Hero title. You can have both Geth and Quarians at peace and saved in Mass Effect 3... FYI. That's how my playthroughs went.
.
If you had the saved game from Mass Effect 2 and played the Social Media version. I did not meet the requirements so the peace option was not available.

I don't know what the social media version is, but the requirements for peace don't involve any social media. What's taken into account: Legion's and Tali's loyalty missions, their following conflict, two N7 missions on Rannoch and Legion's mission in ME3.

No, I did not start in the middle of it. I just did not keep my ME2 saves.I don't know what the social media version is, but the requirements for peace don't involve any social media. In order for peace between the Geth and Quarians ME3 required a ME2 save to be imported.

I was incorrect about having to also complete the social media game.
Okay, maybe I went a bit too far with "coherent".starkerealm wrote: »

There are so many recurring characters and references to earlier events that a playthrough without imported saves would be crippled imo. Now, I agree that the story kept retconning stuff, but the emotional side, the attachement to the team and Shepard's mission is greatly enhanced by starting on Eden Prime. And that's what I believe Bioware games are all about.

Just got to this quest today and found Chef Amadour's arguments very compelling and reasonable, causing me to reflect upon my own personal feelings towards the treatment of other living things.
Then, to find out there is no way to complete the quest compassionately?
It's 2017 ZOS, give us the option to complete this (and similar) quests peacefully. Please. Not all of us simply want to "kill all the things".
