just my opinion but i always thought that was dumb in fantasy rpgs

Warhammer Fantasy (which Warcraft was originally based on) is explicitly based on Early Modern technology (circa 1600), so the firearms made sense there.

Also, Arcanum's 1880s Fantasy Steampunk vibe was pretty cool and well done.

With Elder Scrolls? Not really interested, no.

Guns would be a huge step backwards - technology wise. Who in their right mind would trade in a magic staff for such a crude, noisy weapon as a gun, replete with its cleaning and ammo requirements. A magic staff that only rarely needs to be fed a soul gem (and only then if enchanted) is ever so much more advanced. ;)

And yes - guns in Elder Scrolls would constitute a screaming, 'I'm off to another game!' from me.

Even if they release new range weapon, I'd prefer a crossbow.

No. Never. Doesn’t fit in with lore. And would just be ridiculous.

I prefer bows to xbows but Skyrim had xbows and I don't care if ESO somehow added xbows. Again, don't feel they're necessary and I would stay with bows/staves but at least would 'fit' my Elder Scrolls medieval fantasy view of ESO.

Having come up in Elder Scrolls through years of Oblivion and Skyrim, I am simply delighted that ESO advanced staves to serious/effective weapons. They were crapsticks in the previous games.

Tamriel is Medieval. The best you're gonna get is Crossbows.

The Dwemer never even invented Firearms, and they were the most technologically advanced Race on Nirn in recorded History.

Do you think it would be cool/fun to open up a new ranged weapon skill line for Rifles? I am not sure if this fits into lore to be honest.

No, it doesn't. Skyrim would have been a lot different.
Classes that don't need any class ability nerfs: Nightblades, Dragonknights, Sorcs, Templars, Wardens.

    It doesn't; not really.
    Thus... no.

Now... if it were crossbows, slings, or maybe dwemer spark throwers and steamguns...
...though the crossbows and slings would need no new skill line, as they would make way more sense as alternative weapon to bows, and any dwemer artifact guns would be way more limited and should have a chance to misfire due to being more or less half understood relics of a bygone race... as I outlined in the ideas linked to above! ;)

    rather have crossbows

at the same time i wouldn't completly rule out flintlock guns in the next elder scrolls game to be honest...i like the way for example pillars incorporates guns - gives you more variety...or warhammer guns which are creative but at the same time still feel very fantasy-like... and i think you can find some traces of blackpowder weapons in the elder scrolls lore....

But I would like them to give bows some love. As a primary weapon they suck, They are used mostly as a back bar weapon.

dwemer and even more clockwork is likely to created atleast prototype muskets, and the elder scrolls series literally has space ships so guns are not a stretch. If firearms were added id limit it to being a rare weapon like vma
