As others have said, I don't find the crown store pets really a big deal compared to the sorc pets and even the warden's bear. I have had those get in the way of my interactions many times. I use the Pet Dismiss addon myself for both of those characters of mine, and dismiss them as soon as I do not need them (in cities and such).

The only time I have found the cosmetic pets annoying is when looting urns in Vvardenfell tombs. But even then, the sorc pets are always the worst. In a previous game I played that had some battle pets, you could press Shift to see through the pets and target things like NPCs - I wish they had something like that here sometimes.

I double-bar my Twilight, which makes it really annoying to dispel. Does anyone know of an easier method than removing the skill and then replacing it on my active bar?

You can just slightly drag the skill out and let just it pop back in place that dispels them - or add on (I thought you were PC) and keybind it. It's called Pet Dismiss.

Please not another worthless and pointless poll.

Why do people hate polls, @idk ?

Aren't they just like regular posts, with the added functionality of being able to see a tally of people's opinions on things without needing to scroll through the entire thread?

I think we should put it to a vote, y'all...

Does this thread need a poll to be made about it?

    Yes!

    No!

    @GreenHere

I never said I hated polls. I merely stated the facts that they are worthless and pointless. They do not provide worthwhile information and that is statistically speaking. They offer not valuable information to the devs as a result and they are probably smart enough to know that. Forum polls are junk science, entertainment value only.

If I could turn off the sorc Matriarch, I think I'd be a happier person overall. Not a cosmetic pet but easily the most annoying one to me when I'm trying to turn in my writs or use a crowded bank.

To unsummon your sorc companions you open the character screen and just right click them - and they are gone. They are listed under "current effects" in the lower right (on PC).

Yeah then just left click and drag it very slightly out of its skill bar frame and let go mouse button.

That's what I did for ages till I gave in and got the add on. Now I just hit 6 on number pad and they all poof.

A funny thing though with the magicka morph of bear, since he auto respawns but there is a CD after respawn, you have to hit 6 twice to 'kill' him both times xD The drag thing would still work though because you're basically briefly unequipping it.

I personally would prefer if they didn't do this, it's kind of a thing we enjoy to show off, what would be the point of them if nobody else could see them?

And anyway, I barely even notice it. It also makes an area with lots of players feel more inhabited and lived-in.

Makes sense but in the other hand it does impact performance so some may want to turn down some things where they can

Never once did someone else's pet obstruct me from going where I wanted to go.

That people saying they can't do their banking or whatever is ridiculous; it's just an excuse to get ZoS to change the game to suit their own personal preferences.

This was one of the first things I struck me as odd when I came to the game. I'm talking about the summons, not the pets. The pets I ignore; it's kind of like dyeing your armor bright pink - for many, the only reason to have them is to get attention.

But what struck me as odd about the summoning skills is the phrase "summons remains until killed or unsummoned." It just seemed odd at the time - and I admit it still does - that one skill group allow for indefinite summons. When I read that, I went into a guild - a rather large guild with almost 400 people - and asked why this skill had not been sent on a timer. No one had a good answer for me. In fact, a lot of people agreed - the summons could benefit from a timer.

This would take care of the problem easily. Set all summons on a 60-second or even a two minute timer. All of them, bear included. And it's not like it's not fair. When I cast a skill like deadly cloak, I'm not expecting it to run indefinitely. Why should one class get to cast a skill that runs indefinitely?

Again, pets and even the summons don't bother me so much as I completely ignore them. But for people saying, "Oh, they can't do anything with the summons because they're necessary," the answer is "Yeah, they could put them on a timer." Simple and, for the most part, problem solved.

Everytime when I know I'll be spending much time in town crafting or alike I disable my Josephine (Matriarch), I can see how irritating they are everywhere but in combat.

Having sad that, I am more annoyed by people running with active banker and merchant assistants in dungeons and dolmens (especially in crowded dolmens like in Alik's).

That is not true, you cannot get an interaction E, if one of those class pets is above the object and obstructing it - and some use that intentionally to grief other players. Problem is, there is no good solution for this because class pets are relevant gameplay "items".

Disagree. They don't obstruct me from going anywhere, but they certainly do obstruct interacting with things when they are between you and [things]. I'm not plagued by this in any big way from other players, just maybe the occasional "oops, this giant purple bat lady is in my way" sort of thing.

But my OWN summoned "pets", now they annoy the heck out of me. I wanna loot them sacks of flour and whatnot, and they're all up in my business more than I'd like.

I don't know what the best solution is, but I agree that (while minor) this is an issue that must have a better solution out there somewhere.

::EDIT:: You know what, maybe I do agree after all, @Joy_Division... My post reads like I want the game changed to suit my personal preference. But my preference isn't to remove other people's pets or take away their ability to have vanity pets; I like my little critters too. My preference is that ALL players' big ol' combat pets (especially my own) didn't block interacting with objects, which they certainly do.

I'd like to see a fairly simple change made to assistants such as the banker and merchant, as that irks me too (particularly in groups, where their followers love to initiate conversation with you) :

Make all assistant despawn after, say, 20 seconds of no one interacting with them.

I understand what you and others are saying. It's mostly a question about resources, priorities, and the fact that whenever ZoS changes anything and after every patch, bugs appear everywhere.

In 4 years, I never felt inconvenienced going to a banker or looting some chest because of someone's pets. If there was a pet in front of whatever I wanted to looted, something that might happen once a week, it's not a big deal, move a meter or two to the side and wallah, I get my 1 lockpick and useless green item I'm just going to vendor anyway.

If I missed some random trunk, it makes zero difference as they aren't even worth looting anyway.

This is hardly something that's broke or needs Zos attention with so many other issues in the game.

I am much more concerned that when I fire a volley barrage, sometimes I cant move (new bug introduced this patch). More concerned that I had to quit a Maw of Larkaj Trial last night (new bug introduced this patch). More concerned that I can;t weapon swap properly in cyrodiil (new bug introduced this patch). Heck, I couldn't even get into cyrodiil last night (new bug introduced this patch).

All of these bugs I mentioned were not even things that ZoS touched in the patch notes. So unless something is broke, I'd rather not ZoS try and fix it. And my standards of broke go beyond another player's bear standing in front of one of the hundreds of trunks in a particular zone.

When ZoS actually addresses game-breaking, character-effecting bugs, fixed the terrible lag and FPS performance, then maybe I won't mind if they start looking at options such as this.
