***Constructive Feedback Thread*** - QoL Additions to ESO. Come have YOUR SAY!

Before I begin I want to say that YOU may NOT agree with everything that I am going to suggest so please do NOT come in here complaining. This thread for is everyone to have their say and for ZOS to listen and read the feedback we are giving them for future hotfixes/chapters/DLCs or anything in the base game.

I will add my own opinions that I feel need to be addressed however please feel free to share your own additions to the thread that will help our quality of life in ESO.

1. Weapon Swapping Toggle/Use/Disable.. Yay or Nay?
I am aware people are divided on weapon swapping whether it's good or a bad experience for them. How about giving us the option to not use this feature? Or slowly introduce it for newer players as it is different to other standard MMORPG combat systems out there.

2. We need a global trading place/auction house/whatever you would like to call it.
As much as guild traders are convenient I feel that it's not enough. We need a dedicated place to buy/sell/trade so that the game's economy can become a thing. It would help ease the headache in obtaining some items and would most definitely help sellers. Sure there are addons that help us out with this but should we have to get an addon so we can perform these simple tasks?

3. I'm aware Update 17 just came out but outfit costs.. and the limitations associated with them.
The outfit system should have been one of the key additions to the game from the very beginning. MMORPG's thrive on being able to customize and create your character, how YOU want to visually appear or be seen as. This is especially import from a RP point of view. The cost is just way too high we are also limited to crafting styles.. I do not believe that was a good idea considering there are many gear drops in the game that use different appearances. (correct me if I am wrong here)

I'll also add here that there needs to be an in-game barber/hairstyle/makeover dedicated place to redesign our character's appearance. Some people (like myself) quickly made their character on launch and didn't have time to go through all the fine details of creating your own personal persona because we wanted to have X name, we are now kicking ourselves for the way our character looks and are unhappy with it.

4. I do not claim to be one of the PvP elite players nor a PvE elite player but my experience with dungeons and pugging has been miserable..
I am unsure how random dungeons work but perhaps grouping players to similar levels/similar CP levels would help out with the elitism that occurs here. I am all for helping newer players adjust into the system but some level of competency is required.

5. I can't comment on the state of PvP and I am sure someone will contribute their opinions but if we enter Cyrodiil..
Could we automatically be placed in a group together? I see heaps of people asking for a group in the zone chat but nothing ever comes of it. Of course having the option to decline if you so wish.

6. Instead of resorting to addons.. could we please have some UI updates? Server updates perhaps? Lag and loading screens are a killer.
I'll start with this I heard someone saying our zones are not cached therefore causing some really long and painful loading screens. Consider this idea maybe?
I quite enjoy the basic UI of the game, it's playable unlike some other games around but I wish we could do a bit more with the basic UI without having to use an addon to change it.

Again I'll say this you might not agree with what I have to say and I'm hoping this picks up as it's supposed to be a quality of life and constructive feedback thread about anything in the game. Please feel free to add your own additions and hopefully we can bring this to the attention of ZOS. *fingers crossed* B)

I’d question whether some of these are QOL and not more fundamental changes to to game to be honest but some thoughts.

    1. Weapon Swapping Toggle/Use/Disable.. Yay or Nay?

You have an option to disable it already, just slot skills on one bar, your performance will be impacted. It’s also slowly introduced to new players as for the first 14 levels they can only use 1 bar, tie that in with the new skill advisor that should give new players solid core understanding of the combat system.

    2. We need a global trading place/auction house/whatever you would like to call it.

We don’t need an auction house, some want an auction house. The guild stores Work and all ZoS would do by radically changing the trading environment would annoy a good proportion of their base. There are more than enough guilds to sell wares and it’s even easier on PC with things like TTC and MM

    3. I'm aware Update 17 just came out but outfit costs.. and the limitations associated with them.

The hairstyle point you can change your hairstyle but this is locked via items you get through crown crates or the crown store. For outfit system locking to motifs known is a great idea and rewards those that invest time in collecting these. Not doing this makes motifs essentially pointless. Also I believe but could be wrong even dropped items from enemies are in motif styles. That’s why when you deconstruct them you get certain style materials, so you have the option to craft those styles as long as you know the motif.

    4. I do not claim to be one of the PvP elite players nor a PvE elite player but my experience with dungeons and pugging has been miserable..

The change to gate the DLC dungeons behind a Min CP level is enough. the rest aren’t difficult especially if you have a mix of low and high CP. CP itself isnt a measure of competency just time played. To do this properly you need a much more complex system that evaluates your performance for each role and frankly that’s uneccasry for the skill level required for most dungeons.

    5. I do not claim to be one of the PvP elite players nor a PvE elite player but my experience with dungeons and pugging has been miserable.

There already is a group finder tool for PVP. Auto grouping people isn’t he solution though as people may want solo play or small scale. Either improving the group finder or raising its awareness is a better solution for me.

    6. Instead of resorting to addons.. could we please have some UI updates? Server updates perhaps? Lag and loading screens are a killer.

Normal overland PVE I can honestly say I hardly ever have an issue with lag or loading screens. Trials and PVP is where it happens for me. ZoS do server updates weekly, the fact they still can’t get PVP to be lag free shows they can’t do it. The PVP experience used to be lag free even with huge scale battles but with all the things that’s been introduced that’s turned it into the lag fest we have today in the popular campaigns.

Quality of life changes for me, would be improving the built in buff trackers. For PC i never use it since it’s so inferior to addons. Having something like a built in action duration reminder for skills and making some tweaks to the buff duration to make it more customisable would be much better. It would also work much better for console. Couldn’t believe how little use it was when playing on Xbox

Quality of live change i'd like to see:

Change the setnames so that the first letter is allways connected to the Set, not to the Armorpart.

Right now, when im searching my bank for Julianos, i have to search for Breaches of Julianos or Gauntlets of Julianos.
With the Change i would be able to search for Julianos and then i can see Breaches, Gauntlets and Jerkins underneath each other.
There are allready Itemsets that work this way, like Warrior Poet or Wizard's Riposte, so why not change all the Setnames?
Maybe behind the current way of sorting Items is an Idea i dont get, but i believe this would be a change that eases Inventory- and Bankmanagement for everyone.

    1. Definitely no on the opt-out of weapon swapping. Like we already have that feature, you just don't put a weapon on that bar. ;-)
    2. No opinion on the second point. The current system seems to work pretty well on PC, but then again that's because we're using all these addons to get closer and closer to the experience of a centralized auction house. So it works for me and I don't see the need to change from my own perspective, but maybe some console players can chime in on how great or terrible their experience has been with the guild traders.
    3. I 100% agree that outfit costs are too high. I think they should go away permanently. For a related reason, however, I cannot agree regarding an in-game style change. You can already change your hairstyle, adornments, etc. through cash-shop purchases, either by going through the character creator again via an appearance chance token or buying the relevant hair/adornment/whatever items and megapacks. What's great about the cosmetic systems in this game (except outfits) is that there's no per-use cost associated with them. They're monetized as a one-and-done purchase where you pay a big up-front cost, and then can switch around for free forever after. That is how outfitting SHOULD have worked. The change to a different per-use monetization strategy was a bad move and I hope they adjust back to the previous model.
    4. I don't think there's a hard fix for the group finder mixing and matching good and bad players. They made great changes with One Tamriel with the level scaling and whatnot, but level scaling won't save you from inexperience, nor will CP points. For example, I recently helped one group through normal Cradle of Shadows and we didn't have any problems even though our healer was level 35 with two resto staff skills. They were smart about it and got us through just fine. Rewind a couple weeks, though, and I was in a normal Bloodroot Forge with a ton of high-CP folks who legit couldn't do the last boss. They had like 5 tanks come in before me and each one of them got frustrated and left. I finally got them through it after explaining the mechanics, such as I know them, but it was rough. I just don't think grouping by level is going to make a huge difference with that sort of thing going on.
    5. I PvP a boatload but I do so with an experienced, top-of-the-line competitive group, so I don't remember much what it's like to go pugging it. That said, on PC NA Vivec we have tons of pug groups running around who readily scoop up anyone willing to join. I have little doubt that the other campaigns have similar groups. It's quite possible that the people you see looking for group in zone chat have been taken in, just without any confirmation. Addons like autoinvite pick people up with just a keyword.
    6. Speaking of addons, yeah, there's always room to improve the base game UI functionality and they're always making progress in that regard. I just keep running the addons I already like, but I believe I recall that they've added scrolling combat text, buff trackers, and a host of other things. Mention some specifics and you never know, they might take it into consideration!

After a good while I gave the dungeon finder another try yesterday night and was grouped with three other folks around my CP (500-ish) and lo and behold was it a fun run. Most of my other experiences using the dungeon finder were... subpar to say the least. Either I was grouped with people who really didn't know what they were doing (both in the dungeon and with their character) or just rushed through the dungeon yelling at anybody not keeping up.

I'm not saying that it was solely due to the fact that we were in a close CP range, but it surely helped with the pace. So yes, I'd really like to see the dungeon finder grouping improved.

I agree we need auction houses, they should only be in main cities and have a high tax so it's a payoff over using guild stores.

I would also like to be able to set up shop anywhere and sell a limited amount of items at a time. Aion did it perfectly, you'd open a window, drag items in, set price and away you went. People would know you were selling because a speech bubble came above your head and you'd sit on a chair.

    • Difficulty-based Quest Colours
    • Accurate Resource Numbers
    • Guild, World and Crafting Skill Progression in Loot History
    • Campaign Name in the Loading Screen and Player Lists
      • Label that one as "in progress" I think. Having the campaign name on the map is certainly part-way there!
    • Dungeon Loading Screens (new art for Dungeon II plz)
    • 'In Combat’ Indicator
    • Alliance War Notifications Done!
    • Public Dungeon Icons (consistency plz)
    • Style Indicator for Gear
      • This is part-way there with Traits, now it just needs to go all the way and have Style too.

    • Guild Trader UI overhaul (that probably doesn't fall under "small")

    1. Weapon Swapping:
There is no need to change it. If something you can always just... Don't equip second bar. And as far as I know you get your 2nd bar at level 15 - so you don't get it right away as a new player and at level 15 you are introduce to it.
    2. Global trading place:
It is a good idea. I see it like something that will be a suplement for the current trading guild system rather than a direct competition. Something that will be an alternative for solo/small guild players. The curent WTS / WTT zone chat spamming is probably the worst system I have ever seen in an mmo. And for those who say that it will break the economy/will be easily exploitable... Isn't it what we already have with trading guilds ? Fake guilds, fake bids, guilds perma-taking one spot, inflating prices (example: buoyant armiger motif) - and bassicaly economy manipulating.
    3. Outfit costs:
Yeah... But hey - at least we should be glad that we can do it now. But in my opinion it could have been done better. First of all dyeing should be free of any charge. In addition base cost of aplaying style material should be toned down and a style material cost should be added - so if you want for example want a breton style for outfit it will cost some small amout of gold + molybdenum.
    4 Dungeons pugging:
Grouping players to simmilar levels might help. But what I think might help is a slight change in vote-kick machanism. Currently in a 4-man dungeon you only need 2 votes to kick someone - and I don't have to say that is extremely abused.. I would really help if this was changed to 3 votes.
    5. State of Cyrodiil PvP:
Not counting the lag & bugs we got a lot of good stuff with new update. Miats cheat add-on is gone (at lest for now), population exploit is also fixed and bird spam is also gone. But there are a lot more important "core" things that needs to be adresed. First of all - campaigns are not allaiance-locked - this means that any one can still switch teams just by logging off with one character and logging in with another still within the same campaign but with different colour.
Other problem is the "underdog" problem - one faction on the last spot in scoreboard beeing pushed back to gates by two other faction. I thoght of some solution to this problem. AP gain could be dependent of scoreboard. So if you fight against 3rd faction you get 1/3 ap, against 2nd faction 2/3 ap and against 1st faction 3/3 "normal" ap gain. Of course - this is only an example (ap gain scaling could be different). There simply should be some mechanics that will encourage players to fight against winning faction. That way winning the campaign would actally be difficult and challenging. Right now the faction that wins the campaign is the one that night cap / morning cap (pvdoor) the most...
    6. UI add-ons:
I don't use add-ons that much. But it would be nice to see some addons implemented to the base default game client.

    Two QoL changes for Cyrodiil

    1. ability to share your map marker or just have the crown's marker always visible to the whole group so with multi national groups everyone can know where to go, language difficulties sometimes.

    2. Associated with loading screens. Make re-inserting the character into the game world the very last action after all loading has completed. This way at least when you re-spawn in a keep or at a forward camp you've not already been dead for a few minutes when you finally get control of your character and may have some small chance of surviving.

would say this to the points raised

1 choice is allways wanted in all games - would say in trials vet dungeons just have 1 bar then have more rewards with this would make them hard mode for the elite players , so they would not have a easy run through designed for the elite.

2 system we have is a cash sink bidding for the best market stall , what we need is a system like eve online / runescape this works very well and is probally the best system ever done period , just ask any eve online player even any runescape player ,
for eso they would need a high tax celing for the gold sink .

3 players just love to look the part so wads more choice is never enough .

4 for dungeons i would suggest every so many levels ,eso could have each class a general build that would be ok to use.
even a addon that helps players , like skills weapons/armour etc , so they have a general idea ,or maybe a tutorial you all have to do before you do a dungeon .like what they have done with this patch .

5 pvp is a niche thing , either you like it or dont .

6 eso should make the addons .

7 a few points i would add .would say if they had a tutorial showing you builds etc weapons/armour this make game a lot more user friendly , also on the main forums they could aslo have pinned , basic builds at set levels with all basic skills weapons armours and where the points should be placed .aslo a better buy sell system like eve/runescape .

    footnote
if players are frustrated can find what they want , dont know what build weapons armour skills etc etc etc , we all know that many will just leave the game .

i have come back after long break when i get bored frustrated i just move on to next game .

    wish you all well .

    1. Yes, and no. No, because there is the option not to slot the second bar. Yes, because it needs tweaking. For the life of us, many, many, many of us, who can't get the hang of swapping to save a gnar, a modified "something". We're not stupid, we're just, well, bar challenged.
    2. No. But what does need to change is/are having some basic search options.
    3. I could care less. As long as I get skirts, I'm ok. I seem to be in the minority however. Generally folks seem to not like it, or the costs, much.
    4. I, and I suspect many, will not touch a PUG or a random outside of friends or guild. The toxicity is unbelievable. It's not worth the aggravation.
    5. Don't do PVP, no opinion.
    6. 6. I love addons. Perhaps improved integration of addons would help. It sure helped Skyrim. Well, at least the addons did.

Honestly I just wish they didn't hold back our ability to get new motifs until the next update.
I REALLY want the new Dragon Priest motif but its not available. I'm already going to be grinding it for gear, why not put in some motif pages too?!

    Consoles QoL Improvements:

Please allow an option to bind synergies to one key press... Especially with the upcoming synergy changes....

When crafting for alchemy can we please toggle a make "X" amount. As much as I love pressing X 100 times over the course of 5 to 10 minutes, well I don't.

The addition of some add-ons on console would be nice, or at least a developer version. Champion point sets, and certain "builds" that could be pre loaded would be amazing.

This is more a bug than it is QoL, but can you please for the love of Akatosh fix the Spell Wall ultimate so that I'm not forced into a full flame destro heavy staff attack when the ultimate is active. I'm just trying to weave my attacks and it gets stuck loading a heavy every time

I done being mad...till Monday. (*Puppy eyes fix it)

    1) I miss bar swap without delay. Who knew how game breaking this is till now. Won't bget enjoy manybir bew dungeons till next week...sighs

    2) guild traders keep encomony stable. You have dew add ons to do more.

    3) cost isn't much, but dying is too much. Would like option to preview dye and amour at same time. Also just option to save before you can afford...or simply need to walk away for a sec would do wonders.

    4) dungeons are fine, and skill advisor will grow

    5) alliance pvp group finder should be fixed one day.

    6) don't really want to anything new to interface. There's add on to change enjoyment.

    * Would like see trial group finder.
    * Would like potions to stack to 200 instead of 100

Most of all would like just general fixes that occurred with dragon bones to fly away.

I shall throw in my own two shillings. Err...make that two pence, I need the shillings.

    1. Add a minimap. A @($*&$ mini-(&*$(*&$@%-map.

Truly one does not know how much one values something until it is gone. The patch killed, thus far, most of my add-ons, including both the mini-map ones (there is a third on Minion, but it's always worked badly for me so I uninstalled it myself).

It has been incredibly frustrating navigating overland, dungeons, delves, towns, whatever without having that minimap up in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Which tells me that it had to have been an incredible convenience to begin with. Which, in turn, tells me that this ought to be a feature officially built into the game...and yet it is not. One of many, to be sure, but one that would just make a huge QoL difference for everyone, in my opinion.

And, pre-emptively, sod "immersion". If one wants immersion, one goes and plays "Kingdom Come" where you have to brew a special type of schnapps and get drunk just to save the game once.

    2. I have said it before elsewhere, the Activity Finder queue wait times do not make sense to me, at least on the NA server. I refuse to believe that there are so few players jumping in during either East Coast or West Coast prime time - on normal even, i.e. including low-levels - that wait times can be as long as 40+ minutes (or 15 minutes on average). Insert the full quote of the Chewbacca Defense <here>.

So one big QoL improvement for me personally would be to either fix this, whatever it takes to fix it, or at the very least - as other MMOs do - show us the queue. That way I can at least tell that, hey, not enough people, or too many DPS and no tanks, or...whatever the issue is with the queue. Because as is, having used group finder daily for much of the past year, I have finally had enough and "rage-quit" it, not because of PUGs, but because of the stupid bloody waiting times. This is not the player reaction you want for a feature as integral to the game as this...

    3. A way to change settings account-wide instead of character-wide, if I want to. Add-ons can do it, which means the functionality is in the game. But as for the game itself, if I want to rebind some keys or change some combat interface displays, or disable an installed add-on (without uninstalling it), I have to do it over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again because obviously whoever had designed the settings menus hadn't reckoned on a single account running more than one character.

I have to believe this will be a subtle but significant QoL improvement for those of us with entire stables of characters. Especially in the aftermath of patches like this when all of a sudden add-ons don't work, UI needs to get reshuffled, et cetera.

I am really in doubt if a global auction house would be a good idea now, because it would break the gameplay of a lot of people, who have adapted to this system and are having fun to work the regional markets. Ok, one can somewhat go around that with an add-on, but I am not using it, but rather prefer to figure out where guild traders are, who have decent and not overpriced offers.

This said, i have never sold anything in a guild store yet - I just do not like to be forced to sell a certain amount within a specific time frame or have to donate money, if I fail to do so. I am not in ESO to be a merchant or trader - but I know some people are mainly doing this, and it is their pleasure to play the markets. From my perspective a global auction house would allow me to sell stuff without guild pressure - but at the same time, I do not like to ruin the pleasure people might have with exactly this system. Market-PvP is a valid option in a game and we might just ruin their fun by introducing an auction house.

As far as a mini-map goes - in the beginning of me playing ESO I had a minimap addon - but this has not just good sides to it, because it distracts from actually finding landmarks in the game world and navigate in a natural manner - instead one is looking at the minimap more often than not - and is missing out on the beauty of the game world.

Games like AC:Origins have deliberately removed the mini-map for players to have a more immersive experience in the game world and to adapt to navigate by landmarks, instead to rely on a mini-map. I myself have dropped mini-maps in most games meanwhile, because I can see, that it is actually not required - I memorize a map far better, when i am not having a mini-map and after a while it comes natural to navigate by landmarks instead to look at a mini-map. Eventually ZOS had the same idea and wanted us to adapt to landmark navigation and to memorize the map over time - it really makes sense and one can actually do that - we do not need a GPS like tool to navigate in a pseudo-medieval fantasy world - the normal map is enough to pull up, if one is in doubt where to go - over time one gets less and less in doubt and navigates naturally through the world.
