The Steam login is not fixed.....12 hours and counting

The banner is not correct. The Steam forums are ablaze with posts regarding this.....yet nothing here but a banner that says it is fixed. Nice. If I were an undecided prospective buyer of this game, and I were to look down the forum posts right now.....I would run away. Just saying.

yup been hours now, they at least return and let us know they are working on it. But I have feeling we won't heard anything until they get into the office this morning.

Pretty much. Not sure which of their staff have out of office hours but all those who work the forums are normal office hours.

Odd, does this only effect Steam users who bought the game after the accounts got linked?

Because I can log in fine on Steam, but I also had a ZOS account before ZOS started selling ESO+ and Crowns through Steam.

Bought the game way before it was integrated with Steam. Never had issues like these.

Funny thing is i logged in just fine earlier when they "fixed" the problem, even played for around 30min until i had something else to do and now i can't log back in lol

But yes it would be nice if they would remove that banner stating the problem is fixed, it only adds to flare tempers.... but as for me i think i'm going to enjoy a cup of tea and try to think of something else to do today.

Given the events in Florida yesterday...it does seem silly that I am posting about inability to play a game....just a thought

    can´t you read:
"The issues related to Steam players logging in to the North American and European PC/Mac megaservers have been resolved at this time. If you continue to experience difficulties at login, please restart your client. Thank you for your patience!"
if ZOS say so, that´s it!
you are just unaware of the facts.

Yup. Last night it took about 3 hours to "fix" so I'm guessing it will be a while again this morning.

This is extremely frustrating. It's not the first time either. They need to remove the account link and just provide steam users with proper log in credentials. I paid for the base game, and I have been paying a subscription to play for over a year. It would be a different matter if the servers were actually down, but getting screwed out if playing a game you've paid for because of the source of game files is absurd. @ZOS please provide steam users with regular account credentials this is ridiculous.

:EDIT: I changed my wording to reflect that you don't need an ESO+ sub to access the game.

I'm not sure I like that. Personally I like it being linked to my Steam account and that I don't have to log in. I know it works smoothly for Path of Exile so there is no reason it can't work as a smooth for ESO.

It's not been resolved AT ALL. Still the same error! I think ZOS should contact Steam and RESOLVE this together!!!!!!!!!???????????????

Yeah I agree it is convenient. There must be an option to access the game through the default launcher if steam is having issues though. People who bought the game through steam before the merge have this option.

I can confirm that it was resolved ~9 hours ago, since I logged in through Steam and played at that time. If the problem is back, that's a new one.

From the folks posting on Steam forums. It was resolved and worked like for 20/30 mins.

Then I was lucky. After logging in I played without any problems.

Still down for me as well.

Same here! Why can't we have normal game credentials to log in with? I said it yesterday and I still think its true, Steam hijacked our accounts. I bought a game that I cannot access directly, only through them. Its like buying a game at GameStop, but only being able to start the game through a GameStop launcher and servers. How is that a good idea? Why did ZOS even agree to that? No more games through Steam for me.

Time for work. Hopefully its fixed at some point today.

How do things like login verification even break on a whim? And yes, that updated and incorrect service message is infuriating.

I won't throw Steam under the bus for this one. I've been a Steam user for many years and this is, literally, the first problem I've had with it. I appreciate how it's improved the purchasing and installation of games. The old days of "insert Disk 7 of 11" are gone, thankfully.

That said, Steam does add another point of failure to an already weak chain. Unlike most MMO players, I'm not a "computer guy." I don't know what's in my computer and don't want to know. I buy-pre-made computers and want them to work like my TV: Turn it on and it works.

So for an MMO to work, I need my PC to work without problems; my internet to work; Steam to work, and ESO to work. That's four finicky systems all having to work. Removing any of those would improve reliability and the only one adding zero value and not required, is Steam.

I was able to log in about 9 hours ago and play, now same error.Maybe the DLC didnt sell well enough and they are trying to frustrate steam users so we just buy the non steam version again.

The thing is i NEVER have problems with steam, ever. Ive been using it for a decade and have dozens of games on it. No problems...until now.

These services are usually handled by a dedicated server. If that server has problems, then you simply can't log in, although everything else is working fine.
