Funding Your Costume Craze

I made a werewolf hunter themed outfit for my Bosmer ww stamblade, mix of Skinchanger and Bosmer pieces mainly, and it was over 10k. Even though I have plenty of gold, I doubt I'll be doing this for all my 12 toons. It's not what I want to spend my gold or crowns on and I already have plenty of costumes.

Plus it is a ridiculous time sink--I know all current motifs except Frostcaster and Harlequin, and just scrolling through all the options is irritating af.
PC-NA since 2015. Tired and unimpressed.

what if you don't have access to a guild store? is there a way to find one in the game?

I found my guilds by answering advertisements in the guild chat that sounded like they would be a good fit or by typing "LF trading guild to join" into zone chat in major hubs like the capital cities.

If you want to buy something: just go to a bigger city, you will find guild traders everywhere. Of course if you want to find a good deal, you have to travel to find out which one has the best price...
If you want to sell something: nope. You have to advertise through the chat.

    thats dumb.

I have always hated those chats in every mmo,

i'll probably be bored after a week.

To be entirely clear, you can join up to 5 guilds and sell your wares through them as long as your guild has at least 50 members (to sell to guild members) and wins the weekly bid on a guild trader (to sell to anyone who goes to the trader). Each guild gives you 30 slots to list items. I'm in 3 trading guilds and farm regularly, but I usually have enough slots for everything I want to sell as long as my orifices are reasonable.

Or you can sell in zone chat. Zone chat tends to work well for selling bulk items or rarer, high value items.

chat can be dumb, but sometimes interacting with the public in order to benefit from interacting with the public is the way to go.

How are the rest of you planning to fund your outfits with in-game gold?

One and done. Spent less than 10k gold, so no need for funding.

So the new Outfitting system has come out and you've been so excited to use all those motifs you learned and all those dyes you achieved to make your characters look amazing!

Wait. It costs how much to make my outfit and dye it?

ZOS, do you think I'm made out of gold?!

Okay, to be truthful, I've got around 4 million gold between my characters so, yeah, I'm pretty much made out of gold for the purposes of outfitting costs. That doesn't mean I'm going to spend gold with no plan for how to make it back. Besides, I've got lots of friends and guildies with less gold than that.

I'm a firm believer in "teach a man to fish" when it comes to making money in ESO. So I'll share how I'm planning to fund my costuming craze.

    1. Farm lots of raw materials and potion reagents and sell them on guild stores or zone chat. I like to alternate between farming Craglorn (for that 1 in 200 chance at getting nirncrux) and a starter island because there are tons of mats there in a tiny area. (i might give the starter island a miss for a while because it'll be overrun with new players and alts).
    2. Kill a bunch of things and find a bunch of chest while I farm and vendor all the junk gear for a slow but steady profit. Good set gear I can sell on my guild stores.
    3. Steal from and murder a whole bunch of NPCs in order to vendor the stolen loot.
    4. Save all the ornate gear from group dungeons so I can vendor it.

How are the rest of you planning to fund your outfits with in-game gold?

(In-game gold options only, please. If you are planning to use the Crown Store tokens for convenience, that's awesome for you, but less helpful to anyone trying to use only in-game gold for outfits.)

When do I get to play the content? :/

PS4 and XBox get the Dragonbones DLC on February 27th. https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/updates/dlc/dragonbones

Unless there's a nasty bug preventing you, its available on PC/Mac now.
