    It depends on the situation.

Don't pay for trial runs. Don't be part of a guild that does. The people who do this are deliberately trying ot make this content either inaccessible or appear inaccessible to others for the sake of milking them for gold. It's scuzzy, it's preying on people who don't have access to the "right" guilds (aka know the "right" players), and makes the community look bad.

Oh and the people who hyperventilate and clutch their pearls and say, "I've never seen that!" when i tell others that pve end game in ESO is plagued by awful guilds full of awful people who try to gatekeep the content, just stop. This is one of the things i'm talking about.

Well, they just act as mercenaries, they carry someone through a trial.
There IS a huge difference between willing to learn (adapt to mechanics, boost dps etc) and just wanting to get a skin. All guilds are interested in dedicated members who wont leave after they get a skin, not those who will leave after they get an achievement. And lets be honest: the majority of people who "just want a skin" arent interested in regular raids.
It's incredibly selfish to think that it's ok to demand 11 people to invest their time and effort for free. No one does that irl, why would you expect someone to spend their evening on you just because you want that? And keep in mind, there's a lot of people who "just want skins".
I also want to adress the "gatekeeping" point. What the hell does that even mean? You can find guides for all trials for free, and there's plenty of guilds that recruit players who are interested in trials. There's just 2 ways: either you join a beginner group (or start one) and learn with them or pay for carry. Pay the iron or gold price, so to speak.

There was a time when Emperor title used to mean something. There was a time when upon meeting a player with Dro-m'Athra Skin I thought "respect, bro/sis". Now I think "meh, probably a cheater".
Congratulations for turning some of the most valuable achievements in the game into a Crown Store trinket. As for those who pay - 5 G's: Good God Girl, Get a Grip and earn it.

I’m about ready to pay for a skin run. These guys that do it have it done in like an hour or less. Have to see if this current progression group pans out or fizzles out. Or if I can get to 1.2 mil gold first.

A good number of well known PvPers all get their skin by paying for it one way or another. I know of no one that just goes and runs VMOL or VHOF for fun.

But vMOL and vHOF are the most fun trials.

That skin lost its meaning long ago, i agree with Streega. When i was in an elite trials guild i left after getting my gold jewelry not even joining in the vMoL attempts because i just dont care any more about it.

Lol they might be the most fun, but good luck getting a group that can do em. It ain’t happening in a craglorn pug. Heck it won’t happen even just bringing in a bunch of heavy hitter guildies.

I don’t know what it is about this stuff, but it seems to have a tendency to tear guilds apart for whatever reason.

They usually start out with an intention of helping other players get through there, but then something happens and turns everyone into a bunch of D Bags

    I just want the skin.

    It depends on the situation.
It depends entirely on the situation.

The majority of raid guilds are progression raiders. They have a core group that work towards becoming better and clearing trials on various difficulties, aswell as completing achievements such as speedrun etc.

These guilds have a normal core group (which is an absolute necessity if you want to progress at all) and at times there will be people who can't show up due to real life events. In that case you will need to replace them for that day with perhaps someone who hasn't played with you before (qualifies as random?). This person will obviously not be charged gold for helping out, regardless if it results in this person getting a skin/achievement that he/she didn't have before.

It is not standard procedure that a guild seeks out people only to charge them gold for skins/achievements. However, there are quite a few players who approach guilds by themselves wanting to buy skins/achievements. These are people who cannot or do not want to spend time progressing towards completing a certain trial. Think of people with severe connection issues or very bad hardware which will never allow them to perform well enough to complete a certain trial. Or a roleplayer who has absolutely no interest in completing veteran trials for their skins but still wants them to fit the theme for their character.
