I think I hit the run speed cap

My crafter does double duty as my raw material farmer and, as such, I've used all his excess skill points to make him run as fast as possible. My current setup is:

5x Fiord's (medium)
5x Jailbreaker's (medium)
2x Air (jewelry)

Obviously maxed stamina, with all the appropriate CPs and passives for run speed and stamina. The Steed mundus stone and all pieces are Divines.

I recently finished out my Jailbreaker set and did my run speed test. The test is a simple lap around the main building in Mournhold. I run it with Rapid Maneuvers and without. With my new gear, there is no difference in time between the two. So I assume there's a run speed cap and that I've hit it?

Yes, but at least your damn Fast

Stupid fast! I can't even sprint in my house as I overshoot everything. It's fun to outrun people who are on their horses and I like to out-sprint newish characters to resource nodes, stand on it, and bow...letting them harvest it...once. After that, it's every farmer to himself ;)

Meh, I use vampire passive for basically "running" while stealth/hidden...also, constantly using "Retreating maneuver" from Alliance War skill line...it's enough to move really fast either while running or mounted.. sometimes too fast as I may miss mats..haha

All these speedy people, lost count how many goodies and master chests and such I found because someone was running twice as fast as me.

My slow and steady healing Templar khajiit crafter is thankful though.

Well, maybe those who do not have marker addon installed?
I use it, so I know where mats respawn and occasionally discover new ones. From one mat location to the next I can "speed up". Having said that, most often than not, I take my time as I like to wander...

I might have to take a second look at Jailbreaker but I was underwhelmed when I tried it. Much prefer Fiords/Coward's myself. As a Stam Sorc you can already get Minor expedition when you want with Hurricane but maybe for other classes its nice.

Anyway, is there an AddOn or any way to tell when you are at the speed cap? I feel like I might be over it as well and wouldn't mind optimizing my build a little better but I can't find the numbers.

I been looking for a good resource farming build. Speed of course and stanima..what about chance for double resource..faster harvesting..hmm what else?

Use CP to get the passives for double resources and faster farming.

My preferred farming build is a stamina character with Darkstride and Coward's Gear. Not only is my sprint super fast from Coward's Gear granting Major Expedition, but I can sprint for a solid minute with Darkstride on. Its also great for running to and from dailies.

I'm not completely optimized but having hit the speed cap, I don't think there's a need to change class or race. But if you're just starting out, it would help. Here's my build.

Dark Elf Nightblade (just because that's what my crafter was original build as. Dark Elf gives no speed advantage)

    Attributes: All stamina

    Gear:
5x Fiord's set, Medium divines (5 armor pieces), Stamina Enchant
5x Jailbreaker set, Medium divines (2 armor, 1 Ring, 2 weapons), Stamina Enchant
2x Air set (Necklace and 1 Ring), Robust

    All purple (Epic)

    CPs:
The Lover: 100 Mooncalf, 20 in anything else. Gives you Plentiful Harvest, Master Gatherer, Windrunning passives
    The Tower: 100 Sprinter

    Skills:
Medium Armor Passives: Wind Walker, Athletics
    Vampire Passive: Supernatural Recovery
    Dark Elf Passive: Dynamic

    Mundus Stone: Steed...duh. :)

    NOTES:

I was about to upgrade my armor to Legendary for the extra 7% Divines (1% per piece) but fortunately realized I was at the cap and didn't waste the resources. Epic (purple) got me to the cap.

If you're using Jailbreaker jewelry, make sure you don't use the unique necklace. It gives a Magicka bonus whereas the rings give a stamina bonus.

There are lots of active skills that increase your movement speed. Rapid Maneuvers (Alliance War), Refreshing Path (Nightblade) and a bunch of others. But if you're at the speed cap, like I am, none of these matter any more.

Orc race has a run speed passive that is, again, irrelevant at the cap.

I use standard stam potions you get from drops. I can't use them as fast as I collect them and carry about 500 on my farmer so I've always got one running for stam regen.

That all said, this is not optimized, as you could take Orc race for more speed and then change the traits on your gear to further increase your stamina. This would give you the same speed (at cap) but with more stamina so you can sprint further.

Last time I saw someone with a run speed cap I was half tempted to report him thinking he was using a speed hack until I asked him how he was running so fast.

Will it make a sound if we break through the speed barrier? Maybe similar to that new clockwork soldier shield bash attack or what it's name.

That's probably the real reason why some nodes disappear right before my eyes, my graphic card just can't load it!

Kinda sad when rapid maneuver becomes obsolete though.

All you crazy farmers. Some reason they didn’t like people out running horses. Seemed sort of fun to me since you had to build specifically for it. But whatever. Happy farming you weirdos! :p

I have 5x Coward's + 5x Darkstride on 5 of my toons, + all the other speed and stam bonuses, and that's a pretty speedy combo. I regularly outrun or keep up with most people, even on mounts.

But what is the speed cap? I realise it is hard to calculate.

I play PvP as a Battle Healer, I lead the group in Light Amor with crazy group buffs and useful resistances. I also like to scroll run (I swap gear and food/drink when I know I will run, it takes 20 seconds to swap) so I collected Prisoner's Rags, Darkstride, Jailbreaker, Fiord's Legacy and a few others. I went for speed with Jail & Fiord but hit the speed roof so that Major Expedition only increases speed by 10%.

I am wondering if there is a soft cap of if the bonuses are applied by multiplying, as I know Sprint Reduction Cost is.
I am looking for the optimal situation of sustainable max speed with some kind of tankiness.

I am guessing I need a lot of further testing but see a way via Prisoner's & Monster Set allowing 5 LA, 1H, 1M, then the other running set on Jewellery and 1h&Sh, losing the 5-piece to a Resto for stop and heal (group) scenarios.

If anyone has insight on caps or ideas here, please share, thanks!

..perhaps Darkstride, Prisoner's and Pirate Skeleton... have all in Well-fitted, throw a few CP in Sprint, grab Windrunner passive and if the Spring Cost is zero, then no need to glyph Stamina...

Rolling with a bow, and passives gives a nice burst, too. Too bad speed is capped.

But what is the speed cap? I realise it is hard to calculate.

I have an outdated addon that tells me my run speed as a percent of base speed. As far as I can tell, the run speed cap is 200% of base and mounted cap is 230% of base.

With Jailbreaker and Cowards gear, all divines, and the Steed mundus, the mod shows 200% when sprinting. If I activate rapids, it doesn't go any higher. My runner is a nord but I don't think the orc passives would get me above 200%. I"ve tested all combos of gear I can think and have never been above 200% on flat ground.

But the addon is wonky. In some zones, it shows the same character running at 150% but there is no visible difference in speed.
