bethesda/zos......a business, trying to make money in a competitive market. they have the demographics and the data to see what is probably certainly going to generate revenue... and they do it. why are you/anyone surprised? all businesses do the same thing - look for a (good) return on their investment.
if that were not the case, if there were no possibility of a return on investment they would not do it, there would be no point. and the op would be confined to playing with him/her/its self.

@jedtb16_ESO What are you talking about? You read it twice? Everyone here knows that ZOS is a business...WTF does that have to do with what I am saying?
If you read it twice, what I AM SAYING as a consumer DO MORE THAN JUST COME ON FORUMS AND COMPLAIN! I gave 1 example...which is to speak the language of money to A COMPANY some people seem to not be happy with. If you REALLY want change stop coming on here, THEN playing the game and buying into said practices...
I literally state that in the OP...soooo.....
ALSO, ZOS is much more than a company, they are ALSO human beings like YOU and I...
Why are people coming onto the forums and complaining about features and state they are leaving...but REALLY don't? Why do they still buy crown crates? Why are so many people upset but STILL buy extra outfit slots? That's all I am saying.
Lastly @jedtb16_ESO I didn't come for you so DO NOT COME FOR ME. I am a MALE, in MEDICAL SCHOOL and what society deems as successful.

You like what you like, you dislike what you dislike.
Its called approval of disapproval. Of course we are annoyed or worse when they mess up as anyone should be we payed for and still pay to support this product and as a result we expect wait for it.....results. But good ones.
We approve when we see our monetary investment in the game bearing fruit. Giving us what we ask for, giving us a good and fun game we can play and enjoy with friends.
Theres no need for indepth psychology its just called right and wrong, when they screw up they screw up. When they do good they doo good. Nothing to do with being fickle everything to do with the fact that the customer is always right. Something modern day companies have forgotten as customer interaction is no long personal (in person etc) its on the internet where things that are said, words that are used, attitudes portrayed can be hidden, brushed a side, over looked. Simple as that.
Also as for the stop coming here to complain. No. Im sorry just no. We have a right too and outlet and we shall use it how we wish. That said, we complain because we love the game and we want it to do well, it has a ton of potential but it keeps going in the wrong direction and making missteps and it also feels like ZoS does not listen unless its a very specific thing. I.e PvPers are pretty much ignored or well the community in general when it comes to server performance. The idea is if you keep yelling loud enough finally someone will listen and usually they do. This is why you have so much complaining. If ZoS listened more and actually DID more concerning the ignored important topics then we wouldn't have this problem. Same goes for all forums for most games. This wasn't so bad back in the day when executives greed wasn't at the forefront but now it is and here you have the result. The apparent consistent moaning of many communities.
FYI you really shouldn't tell people how to act when you're coming here complaining about complainers who are complaining about other things. It just creates circular nonsense that nobody wants.

@xeNNNNN I wish it was that simple. ZOS by your view can do good or bad. WE wouldn't have HALF the problems if more people put their money where their mouth is.
wow @Thealteregoroman - you have most definitely really raised your game - well done
i think the simple answer though to all of this is:

As long as micro-transactions as they are exist or "lootboxes" it wont matter. There will always be impulsive people who buy crates so easily and throw their money at ZoS for shiney things that wont matter in 30 years or whatever. Publishers are making a killing off of obsessive compulsion of people who buy on that impulse to get the mount they want or get the randomised goodie back to get the skin they want etc.
Half the community could stop paying and it still wouldn't matter. Luckily lootboxes are on their way to be regulated in a lot of countries so they're gonna have to rethink their strategy anyway.
Activision for example made over 6 billion. now even if Zenimax is only making a fraction of what Activision is from MXTs thats still no justifiable reason to not have enough money to fix a majority of the problems in the game by hiring staff for specific things(designers, artists, testers etc, prioritising server performance and fixing the bugs that are still in the game since beta. Hell the list goes on with that. This is why so many people are always so angry with them but still pay they hope ZoS will finally do something.
And with every single patch since dark brotherhood progressively getting worse for a lot of people, the blowback from the forums is only going to get worse. Imo opinion it really went bad with the morrowind vs subs thing when it was announced.

@xeNNNNN I hear you! Lootboxes arent going anywhere. The biggest example and the power of the consumer is what happened with EA. Companies will have to change their practices BUT it starts with us first. If we want things to change we have to draw the line at some point.

Thats true but the issue is they still made a lot of money from them enough too keep the game going and bring back MXTs there.
However while I do think it starts with us to a degree its also on them, Lootboxes are predatory by nature, whether they are gambling is a matter of debate right now but many countries including European countries and some US states are actively working on legislation too protect the consumer from said practices so I do think they will be curbed quite a bit. They will have too change their business model if the legislation will hit them as hard as it seems it will. Their main source of revenue has been for the better part of a decade, kids with their parents cash. This will change. That I am sure of.
The core difference between battlefront 2 and ESO is that people have already been playing ESO for a long time, so how we react is much different and much more difficult as people are very much invested in the product. Getting them too repeal that investment is far harder than channeling your inner shia lebouf.

ZOS might have the data, but that doesn't mean we can trust that they interpret it right. Example: "Home storage never was a priority because over 90% of the player base hadn't even upgraded they bankspace to its max."
If players observe phenomena that seem to disagree with the supposed data that ZOS has, then gather their annecdotal evidence in the forum, we get a good indication of what the proper data might be looking like. Of course this is not 100% accurate but often enough to matter. 1500 crowns for a single outfit slot on only one character is not justifiable in my opinion. At that point I am thankful that I got one for free on each character so I don't even need it, thus I won't buy it on these conditions.
