    I somehow felt it coming. On every patch, there is a problem on the EU server. Now I am wondering, when the maintenance finally ends, will the game work properly? Or will the French language be erased or some other bug that will require one more week to fix?
    My characters:
    Main and crafter: A Breton magicka templar named Erwann Sorril
    Alt 1: A Bosmer sorcerer named Tuuneleg
    Alt 2: An Imperial dragonknight named Gaius Tullius Hastifer
    Alt 3: An Argonian vampire/nightblade named Observe-le-Xanmeer
    Alt 4: A Nord werewolf/dragonknight named Sigurd Hurlevent
    Alt 5: A Breton sorcerer named Gilian Sorril (he's Erwann's younger brother)
    Alt 6: A Khajiit nightblade named Jolan-dar
    Alt 7: A Nord warden named Sigurmar Hurlevent (he's Sigurd's younger brother)
    Alt 8: An Altmer templar named Oioriel
    Alt 9: An Argonian stamina Warden named Danse-avec-les-Rainettes

    So this patch is taking another 12 hours until 1 AM February 13th GMT.
    Unfortunately, the terms of service allows ZOS to be customer unfriendly and turn off the servers and services any time they want for whatever reason they like. If they have any sense of customer orientation they should give EU Plus players one day of Plus compensation.

    The localizations is in the client, not in the servers. You can perfectly play on NA in French or German.

    This sounds more like they accidentally dumped the servers into a volcano or something like this.

    Really. 12 extra hours? That's more than enough time to get new servers, set them up and restore a data backup to them.

    Its actually a normal reaction to not having the opportunity to consume something you are paying for. I dont think its about the game, its about people paying for stuff they cant use.

    I agree, although I can't see them doing that but it shows what type of company they are running. I've had my internet cut off for a day, i've been reimbursed for that. It is more of a principle, you pay for it, you don't expect to lose out, even just a day.

    I wanted to purchase 15th slot, roll new char and start leveling it. Seems someone doesn't want me to buy 15th slot. Or this dlc. Or new mount.

    ZOS has actually been quite excellent with their support staff in my experience. Unfortunately server maintenance is a necessary evil that comes with running a live game. It would be nice to get something to make up for lost ESO+ time, or other things, but when it comes to the server being down, or general glitchiness (am I spelling that right?), or long queue times, or that kind of stuff that's somewhat expected when it comes to MMOs, unless it's an egregious offense you just kind of have to take it as it is. Now, if it were something like the EU server being down for a month, I'd think they'd refund EU ESO+ subscribers that month, or give them some equivalent benefit. But as far as I'm aware that isn't the case, and even if it were it might not be just that simple.

    The actual question is, why does applying a patch require a downtime at all?
    Other MMOs like GW2 don't need it.

    Lacking IT infrastructure/design competence or unwillingness to invest into a better solution?

    We can just hope that's not what is happening right now... because it's possible that it is.

    The irony is that if this happened to NA, us Americans would be rioting and throwing a tantrum about it. And then you would have that one guy that that sends ZOS a dozen hamsters with a note that says " I bought the hardware, now fix the server!"
