So, help me understand the storage system?

If I have all 12 characters maxed leveled and I don't want to purchased another character slot, then I cannot get the last of the storage coffers because I'm not leveling up a new character? How is that right that loyal, long-time players get punished for not spending money/crowns on a new character slot? I have at least two characters of each class, why would I want to purchase another character slot?

If I'm reading this all wrong, please correct me. Thanks!!

there will always be things in any game that appear like this. ESO is not unique. For older players of any game, things will change and sometimes you've passed that point where you get them handed to you. In those cases, you adapt, or you just dont worry about it.

I believe you can buy the last coffer normally if you can't obtain one through leveling up a new character. It's still a gigantic slap in the face of every loyal player that the rewards are not retroactive, but at least it's not FORCING you to spend money.

you are correct and yeah, it punished those of us here a long time. if that last coffer is ONLY avail via the level up advisor we should be grandfathered in OR have another way to purchase it that doesn't count as real money. Same for those of us that spent gold on the sorrel horse already or spent actual crowns on the abecean ratter cat should be getting some sort of credit. this is a slap in the face to long time players because unless we spent real money or delete a toon we already spent hundreds of hours on we will never reach the same level of storage space as new players can.

These account-wide items allow you to store 30 or 60 items per collectible, depending on the size. You can acquire four 30-slot coffers and four 60-slot chests, for a combined total eight containers holding up to 360 storage slots.

The free one for leveling a character is one of the 8 containers, not a ninth one.

And a "mule" character spot is worth 1500 crowns. They can also hold 100+ items. I'm hesitant about what to do, 2000 crowns seem a bit expensive.

Be careful since you since bound items from the storage coffer will get lost if you delete one of your chars.

That I feared and its idiotic.
Back early in PTS you got to select one of the 4 coffers, if you owned all you would not get any, this works the same as I assume the horse works, if you own it you don't get it.

Then for some insane reason they changed it so only way to get the last is leveling up an character.
This is an issue if you have used up all your 8 free slots.

Same, I've been getting my crafting up but haven't even started getting master writs yet in order to purchase them. It's crowns or tel var vouchers for me unless I can wait, but I'll get the small coffer from leveling my baby stam sorc anyway.

nope. the 4th small coffer is not avail any other way.

(or 100 writ vouchers, or 100k tel var stones) they are unlocked collectibles like merchant and banker and can be placed infinite times to access that coffer/mini-banks slots in any house. so its 8 mini banks basically.

Maybe they were referring to the 1500 crowns for another character slot then the 1000 crowns for the 30 item coffer, but still that is 2500 crowns. Maybe mis-calculated?

No, you cannot. Many of posted threads about there here and in PTS forums, they only changed it one PTS patch ago. ZoS ignored all requests for clarity or response and just hid from this issue.

I messed up prices, it's 1500 not 3k for new character. Still an stupid design

No storage coffers/chests for me then. 6 main chars and 6 alts to hold stuff which is 600 items just on the alts. Items that I know won't disappear if I don't mess it up.

I totally agree with this been playing since launch and now i have to level up a new character just to get a total of 8, but if I was new to eso I could get all 8 just by buying crowns and leveling a character thanks for the slap in the face ZOS, to someone that has been a eso+ member since 2014 would love to talk to the person that made this decision

Roflmao!! Thanks for the laugh, I needed it today with the (limit to seven storage containers unless you buy another character slot), and friends loosing items they have placed in the containers. On top of the fact that on the PTS (yea I know things change), we were told we would be getting one free change token and now it doesn't seem to be there. I think I might take a break from the game and spend my money elsewhere.

Ive moved gear from a character I was about to delete into the bank before and those were bound why would they get deleted unless they were actually on the character in question?

so in other words its a bug. Which is very game breaking to be honest.

If it is not a bug it will probably get fixed regardless, if its one thing PvPers and PvEers will unite against when it happens its the removal of their hard earned gear or expensively brought gear.
