Want to Nerf Something? How About Snares?

Seriously. Why tf is there a snare on damn near everything on the game? Both in PvE and PvP. Yes, I’m fully aware that movement speed is both crucial and critical in almost every engagement, but enough already. There’s a snare damn near attached to everything.

Inb4 someone says, “Lrn2play.” or “Gitgud.” How about we ZOS devs stop being lazy, and attaching snares to things that they don’t need to be attached upon? How about that? We all lovely to ask for this as that skill to be nerfed, because 9x out of 10 you died to it within a PvP-based environment or situation. How about we start nerfing things of real importance, such as: Lag, snares, and other unneeded bs? How about that? Oh, and I almost forgot. Just telling people to purge it away isn’t the answer either. Movement speed de-buffs should not be the looming factor in damn near every engagement you make with enemy. Whether it be NPC or opposing player.

And by the way, ZOS... You thought you were real slick with that Warden passive of reducing snare effects. N’ah. I peeped that from the jump. I already knew what time it was when I saw that. I already knew the score with ole’ Wrobel n’ crew.

There are waaaaaaaaaay too many snares and snare-like things right now. My guess is that as players got tankier and tankier they realized there was a rising need for slowing and holding them down to get the kills. So they kept adding more snares.

But it’s really uncomfortable gameplay. Partially because it’s often hard to tell if you’re being snared by a legitimate intended mechanic, or if the game is malfunctioning. At times in PvP my character goes to flee and he won’t cloak, but he also won’t come out of sneak and moves at like 1/3rd of sneak speed. Is this intended? On the one hand, perhaps I’ve been hit with a slowing poison or a snare or both. On the other, I don’t understand why I’m getting stuck in sneak.

Then when they implement it in PvE it’s annoying as flip. If it’s a dungeon or trial mechanic, fine. But giving all the rando mobs in clockwork city the hard snares...so annoying and unnecessary.

We're still able to move a bit while snared. So snares need to buffed.

Seriously, I agree with your statement, snares really need to be nerfed. They are pain and are an important problem actually. The majority of skills for remove snares cost too much (almost 4k stamina for shuffle), but the lack of snare immunity is also a issue. And it's really too easy snare others players. (major and minor system for snares without a immunity cooldown will change absolutely nothing).
Coming from severals players at the same time, it remove completly all possibilities to move during a fight. Hence it makes large groups stronger and escape even more complicated.

I think part of it could be that immovable pots help with some of these situations. If you want immovable pots it either cost you time to gather the ingredients or gold/AP to buy them. ZOS loves this as it keeps you engaged in the game even longer. All these little micro engagements of many sorts can add up to quite a few hours, more opportunity for someone online playing to possible buy something from the crown store. Just a thought.

Wait a minute. Waaaaait a f’ing minute. There once was a champion point tree that decreased the effects of: Fear, snares, etc. Matter of a fact, it was the old Ironclad in the Steed tree.

Actually... Even more coincidental... Right around the same time that a lot of things had snares attached to them, and when more and more people started having problems with people fearing them the Ironclad passive was changed. Ironically enough, this was also around the time that everyone began rolling Nightblades (remember the “CakeBlade” tsunami?).

@ZOS_Wrobel mind explaining? Please tell me you have an intelligent and logical explaination for this. I’m begging you. PLEASE! Please tell me you have a reason for the entire removal of the ability to decrease the effects of things like: Fear, snares, etc.?

Yeah, one of the dumbest combat changes in the game when they started adding them to like every sort of attack. And makes things that are supposed to actually snare much less valuable.

On top of that, I'd like to see "Pin" from enemy NPC's at least allow rotation on the spot while pinned. It's annoying being shot in the back, facing away from a mob that has me pinned and I can't even turn around and shoot them back.

I have to agree, snares in this game are overboard, there are way too many of them. I'm not asking to have them removed or nerfed even, but ffs just tone down the number of them in pve.. Kind of expect them in pvp but theres just too many in general overland pve gameplay and they are downright annoying.

Snares shouldn't be something that you just tack onto a skill in order to buff it.

You are taking away agency from the players, and shoehorning people towards running specific setups.

Snares do have an important part to play in the game, but I feel like they should be their own specific thing, rather than a tacked on part of a skill.

I just want to know why tf so many snares were added, when you went and removed the CP passive that allowed the players to tune down the effects received from them. Come tf on, bruh. There’s no way anyone can tell me that it wasn’t intentional. I understand that they wanted to rework the CP system, but damn it man. You go and remove something as crucial as that? Then turn around and throw snares everywhere? N’ah, that’s screwed up.

I agree, certain snares make sense, icy reach, traps, roots, but it seems every single class has some kind of snare. Instead, give classes whose snares make no sense a break free or counter to them. Make it where each class has a more wide variance in attacks and counters. We don't all need the same things.

Not sure what you all are complaining about.

The best part of any video game is when you have less control of your character.

    Stuns/snares/knockdowns/keep em coming!

I want to spend as much time as possible not able to do anything in the game so that I can enjoy a drink and snack.

100% agree snares are shoehorning builds. I don't understand the love of spammable snares in this game, it really slows down combat. You do get use to the play style but that doesn't mean its fun to play.

Would love to see an snare Ragnarok where only certain skills gave this debuff, or X amount of snares triggers hard CC so you can break free. I do run shuffle just for the snare removal, I don't care about the dodge chance. This is a lot more annoying on a magica character who doesn't have 5 medium or run forward momentum.

The games combat would be a lot more fluent and enjoyable.

I don't use snares at all, i think that are a cheap way to play and they are a problem in PvP i have to build my characters around them because i have to spend most of my resources getting out of them.... yeah how about enough already? pull back a bit on the multiple snares spamming i get from some people or small groups in PvP?

I dont think they should be removed completely, but the amount of cc is annoying.
They even added those to CwC mobs, which doesnt even make them difficult, but its really frustrating when cc break from a "dancing spider" and "in-combat" state after killing it lasts more than the spider itself.
