I can under stand Cyrodill, that you can experience lag.

I can understand in PVE raid you can experience lag.

BUT wtf, Maelstrom Arena SOLO play, and to have so much lag?

The 8th boss, when NPCs casting fire spells, lags up the whole, dam game.

i6700k
32g ram

1080ti SLI
205mps, down load speed

I turned down all video settings, and lag is the same.....

What a joke......

Yeah happens to me too, I built a $3300 dollar computer and I feel like I’m in a slideshow half the time.

When I first log into game I have great ping, and about 100 FPS then a minute later my ping shoots up and I have 25 FPS.

odd im on a six year old build that cost roughly $1k, using AMD FX series CPU and DDR3 ram, with the game hosted on hard disk, with every setting maxed amd I get a pretty steady 30 FPS everywhere but raids and in the midst of zerg rushes in cyrodiil. And even then it's not "slideshow" status.

And honestly, I'm in EST and I dont notice my ping spike above 100 very often.

Although the general experience for me has been very pleasant it's not uncommon for me to go down to 7 fps for absolutely no reason even though I play the game with 80 fps in general. Just wait it out, seriously all you can do.

In Cyrodiil, i lag out so badly that even my client's audio queues are messed up. Even the sound lags! and yet the whole zerg just keeps on rolling?

I have since stopped playing due to this lag - I literally cannot play the game.

Lag? Hmmmm. I was watching this stream last night live. I wonder what’s different here?

Check out the keeps battles especially.

Edit: link may not be working for some. Anyway, check out vids on FrozyWozy twitch channel last night. No lag, big fights. It’s working for some. Not sure why. I average 100 ping 70fps, use Voltans addon.

Edit 2: he’s got mature rating on channel, that’s probably what’s blocking it here.

there seems to be a broad range of experiences with lag.

For some like myself there is no lag whatsoever (only exception is when ball group zergs appear in Cyrodiil or large numbers of each faction converge) and for others it's barely playable, even in pve.

This is interesting because it suggests that the issue isn't entirely server related otherwise everyone would have similar consistent lag issues.

This is both server and game optimization issue.
My PC specs are better than "recommended", but still I have to reduce graphics in trials. :#

as much as it is shamed upon when the " reboot your rooter " stuff comes up, its actually like washing your car once a month, or cleaning your whatever room up, aka periodically repeating mentainance procedure.
i suffered alot of lag in my eso time, there was times it was so bad i could not play in cyrodiil at all- but i have to say they did a really great job to clean this up. Im playing now practically lag- free, with stable ping and fps, and my gear here is like 5 y old.
try to eliminate other sources ( downloads, shared connection, firewall settings, background programs) that can stress the performance and just try out the system reboot precedure (flushdns). You should be fine.

This is likely due to the fact that the game is optimized around DX9. Or so I gathered from something they said.

aren't those 1000 more people in small session based match-servers? IE you might have 40 or so people playing on a specific game/server, whereas ESO everyone is in the same, ultimately.

I could be wrong, I've never played fortnite but im pretty sure I HAVE played about a million games like it.

Furthermore it looks almost cel shaded. ESO certainly isn't one of the best looking games by today's standards but I feel it's a far cry beyond fortnites.

It's hard to determine if it's client side or server side. Sure it's easy to point the finger and say it's all ZOS, but the reality is it's probably not. If it was this would be effecting everyone and I'm here to tell you it's not. I have a 3 year old AMD-FX no where near top of the line and i hardly ever get below 50 fps. Hardly ever.. and my ping is usually 90-100. So I can't say what the problem is, but I can say it's not all ZOS

What addons do you use? For example the combat text option of FTC (Foundry Tactical Combat) can cause severe lag and FPS drops. In the case of that addon feature, It typically happens in PvP, or when you pull huge numbers of NPC monsters, such as in Skyreach.

And, on the contrary, it isn't entirely client related, otherwise clients should have similar problems with other games as well. So, probably the server is too bad to cope with some more problematic situations which other servers can handle without any fussle, but not so bad to not be able to handle any situation at all.

After 4 years and over 1000 CP and spending over $1000 on mounts and homes it's long gone but I still enjoy the game
