The solution is not to send auto invites but first start a conversation and ask if he'she is ready to join, and only then send invite.
I was invited that way recently after short conversation and when the guild leader inviting me realised I'm already in 5 guilds he informed me about this, then I quickly quit one guild and joined a new one. I really see no problem in existing system.

If only GMs had the time to have a conversation with all 500 people before they will join the guild. Good idea but not realistic.

Is the GM the only person who can issue an invite in ESO? I wouldn't know as I've never been in an ESO guild but in other MMOs officers can invite new members and it doesn't all fall on the GM to run things.

It is a permission that GMs can grant. Some guilds it's GM & Officers, others open it up so any member can do invites as well. Just depends on the guild.

So with the new update (on console) it has become very annoying to invite people to the guild. Now you can ONLY invite people who are not yet in 5 guilds already. However, most people are already in 5 guilds and when they ask you to invite them it is impossible. People won't just randomly leave a guild and start looking for another one, they will leave when they get the better alternative so they will always have 5 guilds up. about 80% of my sent invitations to people don't actually get them because of this new 'feauture'. It actually happend again just right now writing tis... so annoying!!
Pleaaaase change this again ZOS, eventho you never ever reply to one of my forum posts ever or listen to the community at all....
    cheers

Exactly, I can't count the number of times I myself have wanted an invite from a new guild in my Notifications Queue BEFORE I left the old guild, it's common sense really. Now that is impossible as it wont even let you invite people.

And yes, as of this morning this bug is STILL in place as I am trying to invite someone who ONLY HAS 4 GUILDS and it is giving me the message, "The player you invited can't join another guild without leaving one first."

Now they plan on changing a core game mechanic yet they cant even fix simple bugs like this and the Keep/Castle/Fort claiming bugs in Cyrodiil???? NOT a good idea.

They have to delete the *other* guild invites they are holding on to in their Notifications tab.

I had this problem personally a week or so back.

You should only be able to be in one guild to start off with.

I agree with the OP here. I have a certain order for how much I like the guilds I am in, and then someone comes along with a new invite. I am not expecting this invite, and am marginally satisfied with #5, there is no reason for me to drop #5 until I get an invite to a better option because in the meantime I can still use #5 to get groups, sell stuff, etc.

I'm not sure why they changed this. I'm not strongly opinionated on it, but I am curious. There have been times that I am in 5 guilds, run with someone, and they say want to invite me to their guild. I will tell them to send me the invite, and will accept when I get a chance to leave one of my current ones.

It's not unusual to leave a trading guild when I no longer need more than 1, or switching PVE/PVP guilds for many reasons. It was nice to have those invites, so I know which ones I enjoyed running with. Just because you are in 5 guilds, doesn't mean you aren't interested in entertaining new ones. Sometimes I have more than 1 trading guild just for a short time to unload a lot of stuff, but I really only need 1 on a day-to-day basis.

Not sure when they changed this...seems like a waste of time spent. If it's an issue for some reason, just add an option to not accept new guild invites - just like the option to auto decline duel invites.

Makes sense really. If you are in 5 guilds wich is the max, it makes perfect sense that you cant receive new invites.

No it doesn't, what makes more sense is that the most recent invite gets stored in your notifications

This has always been the case as far as I'm aware, on PC and console. I think the problem lies more within the people not knowing that five guilds is the max. Perhaps PC players are more experienced, or at least more used to the system so they're smart enough to not ask for an invite when they're already in five guilds.

Either way, I don't see how this is an issue. Either way, if the person is in five guilds and they ask for an invite you'll have to explain to them why their invite didn't work. Problem is that people don't know about the five guild limit, not that they can't receive invites when they're already in five.
