If I remember correctly they just said there would be 1 chapter (and 2 DLCs and 1 free update) per year, not necessarily that they would come out at the same time or in the same order.

I suspected Morrowind was easier for them to do because it included a location from a previous game and a class they'd been working on before release, so there was relatively little they had to do from scratch. Whereas if they're doing Summerset they only have established lore and the design for Auridon to work from, and as far as I've heard they don't have any more scrapped mechanics in reserve. Except spell crafting and I'd be surprised if they add that because of the balance issues.

But on the flip side, they also don't have much preestablished lore they have to worry about contradicting. So less research time, less time spent re-writing quests because X can't happen because of Y thing that already happened here, no mess like they had with the Indoril banners, no having to adjust the height map so in matches an earlier game etc.

Is it confirmed Summerset? That's a disappointment...

Huh? Summerset is beautiful and ad hasn't gotten an expansion... did you want the ugly swamps of murkmire?

While I'm sure Summerset will be beautiful it definitely sounds like generic elvish woods. Certainly Murkmire would be more interesting in that regard. Swamps are mysterious for me, beautiful in their own way, spark more imagination that the typical nice woods that we've seen everywhere. Plus, the mayan-like architecture of the Argonians is just fabulous!

I hope I'm wrong and Summerset is more rare that I'm thinking, though.

The Chapter has already been announced in an alternate universe where Blake Bortles is getting ready for the Super Bowl.

It's called The Elder Scrolls: Perfect Roe Blocks, a comprehensive freeform building and minigame system for housing. Because everything has perfect roe in it.

The pre-order bonuses are an exclusive Fabricant fish farm, a Mudcrab Mayhem crown crate, and 5 experience scrolls.

Wasn't Bortles slain by the Daedric Princes Brady and Belichick?

    Idk

    You called for me?

To OP, Zos tends to nit announce a DLC/chapter until the previous ien has launched for sale. . It mixes up the messages.

Last year at this time we did not have a DLC that was sold . It was housing and was added to the base game vs DLC for sale.

Why would anyone pre-order digital content that is fully developed already?

    For me there's 2 reasons:

    1) There's often bonuses for pre-ordering, and sometimes I want those bonuses.

    2) It gives me more flexibility on when I pay for a game or expansion whilst still being able to play it on day 1. Morrowind is a perfect example. I knew I wanted it as soon as it was announced (just the Warden made it worthwhile for me) but I didn't pre-order it right away because it wasn't convenient for me. I can't remember why not, but I had other things I wanted to do with my disposable income that month. I also didn't want to buy it at release because I'd just be getting back from a holiday and wasn't likely to have much cash left. But in between was my birthday, so I got it as a present.

I'm not really looking forward to a DLC sized "chapter" padded with a huge inaccessible area in the middle and some pay-to-win mechanic, or game style locked behind it.

I’m glad it’s Summerset, but tbh, I’m just glad it’s not somewhere in filthy Black Marsh or Elsweyr.

Now I have to think of a name to disparage it just like i did for Moronwind. Bummerset? Is it too soon to start ripping on it?

It's being released in the summer, it's going to suck.
