Apparently They make more money from Impulse Buyers during Timer Sales than they do from Fiscally responsible individuals over an extended period of time... It is very User-Unfriendly and takes advantage of the layman's Bird-Brained compulsions...
Ooh shiny! ...
If your finances are that tight, perhaps you should take a pass on this one anyway...
But yeah, limited time in general is pretty silly.

On the off chance you were being serious....

The showcase is released at the start of every month

Lol we have nice new mods that are making an effort to interact more with us, we shouldn't scare them off with our saltiness. Limited offers suck but at least we're (mostly) warned of them in advance with the showcases
Hey Zos, payday is the 1st and 15th. Your limiting time BS for the crow polymorph ends right before payday.
Did you think this through, or do you just throw darts at a calendar?

I completely understand your frustration with this offer ending right before you get paid. Unfortunately, this is a situation where it's difficult, if not impossible, to make everyone happy for the reasons many have stated in this discussion already.
Specifically, people have wildly different pay schedules depending on who their employer is and how that employer chooses to set their pay schedules.
Personally, I've worked jobs that pay weekly, bi-weekly, 1st/15th, once a month, and only upon contract completion and there's probably still a few variants I've never had to deal with. The point being, we'd love to make everyone happy all the time, but we accept that is not always possible and don't hold back offers because of it.

I used to manage a store once, and the fastest way to get kicjed out was to insult and harass my employees. Zos tolerance and inability to interfere with game economy (it IS warranted at times) is its biggest downfall, and has cost them both reliable income (subscription model) and a more invested and dedicated playerbase. One that used to push for solid content creation and give the devs more to think about tha costumes.
OP is incarnate of the former group of players, the kind of whiny nincompoops that sent this game downhill. OP you're free to feel frustrated but this is how zos operates now in toleration to an undedicated casual playerbase that only cares about the 'me' and 'now'.
Uh..no..consumers have a right to voice Thier grievances.
There's nothing more selfish or me attitude than those who WANT limited time offers so only THEY have the items and can be l33t

They're committed to making a profit, just as the employees, moderators, etc. are committed to making a salary. Happiness comes second.

If I miss something because I was away from the game, or not paying attention, then "oh well".
This is a good perspective. 1, 2, 3 years from now, after we've all moved on, this is going to be the last thing on our mind. Can you imagine being on your deathbed thinking, "Oh, I wish I bought that cosmetic item in that game I played 30-50 years ago!"

I bought the game 3 years ago. I still play it for a stretch of a couple months every year, til I get bored.
How then does this statement hold up?
You think you're making a valid argument but you're really just spouting B$. Of course no ones going to think about this on their death bed, but does that automatically mean it isn't a load of dog ish that they market their items like this?
I personally just started a new job a couple weeks ago. Money has been tight so I cant afford the $40 on pixels that I'd be required to buy, in order to pay for a $20 item.
But if the sale were about 5 days longer, or *not temporary* I'd be both able and willing to fork over the cash for it.
They're literally only hurting themselves.
I guarantee you that in five years, even if you're still playing, you're not going to really care about whether you bought this wraith of crows polymorph. You will have had the opportunity to buy much better things, and you will also have had great gameplaying experiences that overshadow any thought of having missed out.

How exactly do you figure extending the "availability" by a couple weeks would eat into profit?
They're going to lose out on profit because people won't be able to buy one of the few worthwhile things that show up on the crown shop.
Imagine a sandwich shop that only sells sandwiches one week of the month. How on earth is that a proper business model?
They do a calculation, like the one below:
Gross revenue = (sale price) * (quantity)
Gross revenue = ($10.00) * (quantity)
If item is on sale for 3 days only, then we expect the quantity to be 10,000 due to hype and impulse buys. This equates to $10.00 * 10,000 = $100,000
However, if the item is on sale for 30 days, then we expect the quantity to only be 7,500, despite the sale going on for longer, because people will not be buying on hype and impulse. This equates to $10.00 * 7,500 = $75,000.
They can use that extra $25,000 to help pay for another forum moderator.
