Why do sets and abilities exist that are restricted to group members only? Is the point to reduce the load on the server, since those sets and abilities can ignore every player not in your group? Is there another reason?
It seems extremely unbalanced to fight groups in Cyrodiil who constantly purge and apply rapids to each other, but when I am surrounded by allies and cast those abilities they do not benefit anyone but myself.
Is the point to give groups an advantage over non-grouped players? Groups tend to inherantly have advantages over random solo players who happen to be fighting next to each other, so the group only stuff seems like overkill.
Could you imagine a medic in the military refusing to treat wounded soldiers because they arent in their squad? "Sorry soldier but my bandages only work on my squad mates".
What am I not seeing here? Why did groups need to be buffed in this way, and non-grouped players nerfed? I have played since beta, grouped and not grouped, and I dont remember ever thinking solo players were over performing because they could purge, pop rapids or benefit from a cost reduction set without being in a group.
Groups should be entirely about the markers above your head and the chat channel, they dont need a leg up for grouping.
