    It's not even just Sorc though. Sorc gets so many nerfs lately yet were still not even worse off than Templar or DK.

    I really wish things would go back to the way they used to be. Bolt Escape not having a stacking cost. Shields having 20sec durations. Crystal Frags being able to CC enemies. These made the game fun and allowed for versatility in skill usage and playstyle. Even if reverting those huge nerfs would require something like a cost increase on Bolt Escape it'd be fine.

    Casting your shields every 6sec is unfun. The removal of the CC from Crystal Frags ruined what was left of solo DW Sorc - now the only "1vX" you'll manage is just from being lucky enough to fight really bad players who are likely low CP and do not snare, root, debuff, CC, dodge your telegraphed burst, use cost poisons, etc. Sorcs are instead funneled into using Destructive Touch (meaning Destro Staff).... which also means you need the Master Destro, causing you to build a specific way. The cost increase on Bolt Escape makes it so you will burn most of your Magicka to cast Bolt Escape after 1-2 failed casts, since the skill will completely fail to work on many inclines/doorways but still drastically increase the next cast of it for 4sec. This skill is about all Magicka Sorc has left going for it now since snares and Stamina-based burst dmg are so powerful atm.

    Same goes for other classes: Cloak being reliable even if the purge was a bit OP, Templar Sweeps WORKING since it used to base itself on camera direction, Blazing Shield builds I hated used to at least be a type of viable build despite maybe needing a small nerf, DK getting their 4+ projectile Wings back, DK passive resource sustain getting adjusted (the "this is a buff if" patch), gap closers working, the old Surge skill, Rune Cage and Agony being 30sec hard CCs, better sustain from Light/Medium armor passives that were nerfed heavily in Morrowind, Trapping Webs becoming a completely useless Stamina skill, DW being viable for Magicka DPS... there are so many more things I could go over.

    Nerfing is ofc very necessary in all games when balancing, but why do the nerfs have to entirely destroy playstyles and often hurt the entire class?

    Just taking Blazing Shield builds for example: They used to be very effective but were *useless* if not attacked and barely were a threat if they attacked you. The nerf took them from a bit too strong to completely horrible, and made the skill itself especially ineffective for other builds which did not stack purely into Health.

    It's always a long list of nerfs whenever there's patch notes :unamused:


    Excellent post. In the beginning, ESO was always supposed to be about build versitility. It took a while for us to get there as at launch we pretty much had to wear skirts and carry sticks, but there was a brief period when you could build in many different ways and be viable. Mostly this was because things were not about stacking damage so much as stacking utility. But ZOS has slowly hacked away at class utility bonuses. They have pigeonholed Templars and Dragonknights. They have removed a great deal of utility from the "DPS" classes. Remember when Sorcs were great healers and NB''s were engaging tanks. Alas, ESI is slowly descending into the Wow clone mentality.

    This is most likely due to the fact that cp + petcurse have some weird scaling issues alongside the new petscaling being a flatout nerf instead of the buff that was promised.

    People don´t like sorcs.
    Sonrcs don´t perform well in nonCP and are getting nerfed further in that scenario.

    It´s all an elaborate plan to offer two different game modes: In the end we will only have SORC and NONSORC pvp modes.

    I perform much better in non CP. I feel like offense is much stronger than defense there. So my mediocre Sorc damage actually manages to kill people. In CP, I can't kill anything but afk people since the frag nerf :D

    If this is intended Storm atro is pretty dead for stam sorc (since they miss ele expert and elfborn) and in non CP for everyone.

    You miss everything, never said I was making a stam sorc, and never said I was using atronach on stam sorc :wink:

    I'm making heavy armor S&B stamblade, wanna stay funny and see how NB is when you base his defense on block and not on dodge :blush:

    Sorry for the delay, everyone. This may have actually stemmed from a poorly-written patch note. Basically, the change now uses your Armor or Spell Penetration stat when dealing damage, as well as Critical Damage modifiers (such as Major Force). So some hybrid or low-geared builds may see less damage, but top-geared Magicka or Stamina builds should see higher damage. Also, make sure when you're testing these numbers on the PTS that you're not naked and you have some armor on, otherwise you likely won't see the increase in damage.

    I just tested what she said and it indeed seems like the Atronach scales with spell penetration more than with anything else, even more than with spell damage. In my initial post, I had expected a damage per tick that is around 6800 damage and I was able to come close to that with penetration stacking.

    However, does this really explain, why the base damage is so much lower than on live and that it doesn't change the fact, that it will be useless in no cp where you can't invest CP, especially in elemental expert and spell erosion ? No
    So the way the Atronach scales has been changed, which can turn out to be a buff for max CP chars, if you use sharpened as a trait and devote your CP setup for it. But it's a significant damage nerf for everyone who doesn't, especially in no CP campaigns. So the Atronach was basically nerfed, simply resulting from his new scaling.

    TBH this is how the game is balanced. If something is weak at maximum CP, it needs buff. If its too strong it needs nerf.
    Nothing is really adjusted towards low CP or no CP environment

    If Atronach is better than it was before in PVE or PVP with 720CP. It got buffed. Simply as that.

    Still not sure what exactly that should mean. I though they changed the way it scales so it now scales with cp and your max stats. How exactly can it be that the base damage(none crit) is now lower independent of what gear(or even naked) is used?
    If cp buff the damage is should always be higher even for poorly geared chars unless the base damage got nerfed to make up for the fact that it now scales with cp.
    Ice Furnace: This item set now grants Spell Damage, rather than Weapon Damage for the 4 piece bonus

    Make Rush of Agony "Monsters only." People should not be consecutively crowd controlled in a PvP setting. Period.

    This still doesnt explain why base dmg got nerfed. The way it was worded, it should be a buff for both CP and no CP. More in CP. But it basically got nerfed in no CP to compensate for CP scaling. May as well just leave it as it is. In PVE its single target so it wouldnt be used anw and in PVP its dmg isnt even the issue.

    I did some tests on petsorc on target dummy 6mio and Atronach does between 4-5k dps, dealing more damage than Zeg Ulti on single target.

    Yeah, considering the fact that it's stationary, and anyone can run away from it, it ought to to do at least as much damage as the Destro ult.

    I was on PTS. Apparently 40k magicka 10k penetration is "low geared-naked" according to ZOS.
    34k magicka, no major breach, no CP on live hits harder than 40k magicka, major breach, no relevant CP on PTS.

    But yeah, i can cheese target dummies with CP so "buffed".
