How's magDK after off-balance change?

Hello my fellow magDKs.

Did you try your group dps (let's say centurion parse with full group buffs) after the off-balance nerf?

I am a little worried about our dps because both, my sustain (via free power lashes) and my dps (via many power lashes) was highly dependant on off-balance uptime.
How are we with new maximal 33,33% uptime on off-balance?

There was no reason to bring magDK instead of some brutal stamina dps now, I am feared that it will be even worse with the upcoming change.

    Unless they put synergies back to 20 and make off balance last longer than 4 seconds so people can actually make a conscious decision to heavy attack to regain resources outside of their normal rotations.... Probably not great.

    Considering the off balance change itself has been broken on the PTS it's hard to even test it.

    On paper, it's not looking good. DK will have to find another way to sustain.

    AFAIK, no one could even test this for the first two weeks of PTS, as the off-balance uptime was bugged and providing more off-balance uptime than intended. I would imagine this will be fixed today, or hopefully at the latest next monday?

    Either way, I'm worried about it. magDKs aren't being used in any competitive raid at all at the moment (for multiple patches now), and while the change to power lash not consuming off-balance is good, it sounds like it will be over-shadowed by the fact that realistically off-balance uptime should be in the 20% range somewhere, which means less procs, and even worse sustain than we're used to on live. Yeah we might get some more resources back from heavy attacks on off-balance, but I doubt that's going to be enough to make magDK viable again. Further testing will need to be done, but at first glance, it doesn't look good.

    That's exactly my point. MagDK eats up melee slot and does significantly less damage than stamina toons. You can make your sustain better only in expense of dps which will worsen the situation even more.

    My fps in graphics intensive trials like vMoL or vHoF isn't the best so magNB with it's idiotic Strife animation is absolutely a no way for me :-D

    I will most likely roll a stamina toon instead of magDK. That's a safe bet I guess.

    Sadly, mostly all end-game PVE magDK players already have. I play stamDK, stamSorc, and magSorc now exclusively in raids, and my magDK does only crafting and casual pvp. I don't see anything changing that with this patch. I've played magDK since launch, and have spent substantially less playtime, and less time learning rotations on all other classes. On first attempts of skeleton parses on PTS, I am able to (still) pull more dps on magSorc and magBlade (and obviously all stam classes). MagDK is in a pretty rough spot right now, and I think it will continue to be for a while.

    as it stands right now, mDK for PvP, sDK for PvE.

    going the opposite path really sucks sadly.

    I partly blame battle roar changes for all this mess.

    StamDk in pve is fine atm because of how ridicilous heavy attack builds are.

    Otherwise both specs lost huge amounts of sustain.

    Power Lash now has 3 seconds cooldown which forces us to switch to Molten Whip morph harming badly our sustain.

    Zaan set, which could be the savior of magDK nerfed to the ground.

    Well played, guess I'll start practicing stamDK rotation xD

    Does it ever look good? It seems ever since One Tamriel every single patch has just give us more and more to deal with.

    It was already dead since Morrowind, now it's just completely rotten. Good job wrobel, is there anything you can do right?

    those changes pretty much do nothing for magdks....pvp wise there isnt much difference. pve wise, you will see once again even less magdks in trial groups, i dont think they will be welcome in serious groups if this comes to the live server.

    I'd say that is a change for the good, but a bit biased against Dks since magicka class mostly doN't have to deal with dodge rolls.

    It's not a change, it's a bugfix.

    Speaking now for non-CP PvP only (CPs should have never been brought to PvP IMO):
    Dodge rolls is the only defense of medium armor builds. Vigor will burn your stamina in matter of seconds.

    But keep this topic please, only from PvE perspective. MagDK in PvP will not see huge differencies. But PvE magDK will take fatal blow.
