Cannot create Character?

Well, first - why am I being forced to create a new character? Then - every name I pick is in use, so can't create. All I wanted to do was log in check dawnlight palace. Not allowed why?

✭The EU server's character were copied so if you don't have an EU server account, you'll need to make a character. As for name... Just throw a bunch of letter together. Or do SUPERTESTERCHARACTER(race name) or something. Or be more imaginative..."Best" healer PC/NA4 -

You can create any name you want that's not taken ... just like on Live.
If names are taken already you're encouraged to use spaces or special characters ... just like on Live.It's not rocket science.4 -

After two weeks ZOS almost always copies EU accounts which gives time for both servers to test their characters. That wipes the NA data copied earlier.
Just quickly create a character using the template. It takes very little time. Every character must have a name.0 -

feyii✭✭✭✭The things you do on the PTS have no effect on live, so why do you care about the character name? A nonsense-combination of letters and spaces should be all you need.

✭✭✭✭Underscores probably aren't allowed, but you should be able to use hyphens, apostrophes and spaces (up to 4 of each, but the name can't start or end with a space).
Maybe a stupid question, but are you sure it's the space that it's the problem and not some special characters you're using, like those underscores or numbers?Edited by Rosveen on January 24, 2018 4:39PM0 -

For example you cant use a name like aaabbbccc
But you can you use aabbaabbcc0 -

✭✭✭✭✭For what it's worth, I used to run with template formats like [Race]_[Class]_[Test Build]_Test as my character names.

SilentRaven1972✭✭✭✭Also, the text will go red when you hit space, but only until you type more letters. Can't end a name with a space, so it will go red until more is added. Just facedesk the keyboard, remove anything that isn't a letter and there you have it

I'm sorry for trying to help with your problem.
I might have assumed by your comment before that you mainly tried proper names or proper names plus number or maybe even accidentally put a space at the beginning or end of the name. It's hard to tell without know what exactly you tried.
But, as Gina mentioned, if you could post a screenshot of what you are seeing, people here might be able to figure out what's going wrong.3 -

PTS is Public TEST Server, not NA or EU. Characters here are TEMPORARY, whether Template or COPY of (alternately) NA or EU characters (with existing toon name). Template characters require unique alpha names with option of given name and surname. I sometimes use an honorific as part of the character name. Template toons are an opportunity to test builds.
