Would you like "style stamps" for the Outfit system?

Right now the outfit system only really benefits crafters and I am sure there are people out there who want "just that one thing" which they can't get, because they don't know the style (for whatever reason). So why not allow players to buy a jack-of-all-trades consumable in the crown store, which allows them to change the appearance of one item in their outfit to a style of their choosing. I believe this will sell better than the dye stamps that currently exist for costumes. Alternatively to it being a one-for-all item, it could be one item for each style with different prices respectively. ZOS can figure out the details.

Would you, the players, like to see something like this to be added (assuming the price is fair)?

I would like a crown-store workaround for styles I haven't learned.

Per-use consumables are bad. The cash-shop motifs should mostly have you covered if you want a cash-shop alternative, though.

Yeah, I really dislike the way dye stamps work, but for styles, it would make at least a little more sense. Per-use was just my idea to make it an alternative from buying the whole crafting style that doesn't devaluate the actual motif ingame and in the crownstore. On that note, the motifs that are in the crownstore are all overpriced. 5000 crowns for Xivkyn? Really? While Xivkyn will probably not be the style people would want to get stamps of, Ancient Orc, Stalhrim Frostcaster, Akaviri, Militant Ordinator, Buoyant Armiger and Grim Harlequin will probably be bought a lot more. Some of these motifs can't even be bought in the crown store yet (or not anymore).

That's all true, I would just figure that since you're asking for a feature that doesn't exist you could also ask for alternatives that don't exist, like bringing the cash shop motifs back and pricing them more reasonably!

    Hmm. Options.

    1. Play the game, earning motifs through content or by earning the gold/AP to buy motifs thus unlocking various styles. Once you've got the motif learned, you can always use that style.

    2. Buy motifs from the Crown Store for Crowns. Requirement for Crown Store exclusives, otherwise a quick shortcut to learning a whole bunch of styles. Often hilariously overpriced in Crowns vs. in-game gold prices. Once you've learned that motif, you can always use that style.

    3. Buy a per-use consumable, paying for a one-time use of a style for an item. Once you've used it, you can't make any future use of it, nor do you know the style. However, you do get a cheaper, more convenient access to styles that you would otherwise have to learn by playing the game or buying with crowns.

Option # 3 is the best option for players who don't want to play the game in order to get motifs or to spend the crowns to learn motifs. Its quick, its easy, its relatively cheaper (unless you do it a bunch in which case you should have invested instead) than actually playing the game to earn or buy motifs with gold/AP and its cheaper with real $$ than learning the motifs.

I'm opposed to Option # 3. Maybe I'm strange in thinking that if you want the "perfect-looking costume" in rarer motifs, you should actually have to play the game or learn the motifs in order to get the full value of the outfit system. Maybe I'm just a sour old-timey crafter who's learned a bunch of motifs and is looking forward to learning more in order to mix-and-match those motifs with the new system. Maybe I'm just a sour old player arguing that the "johnny-come-latelys" should have to actually learn motifs in order to look as cool as me (I'm an option # 1 player, can you tell?). Maybe I'm bitter at the prospect of yet another "pay-crowns-for-this-quick-and-convenient-service" token like dyes that doesn't have any lasting benefit.

Ultimately, Option #3 is the best option for players who want to spend real money for a convenient but short term use of rare motifs. If paying real money for a one-time use item as opposed to investing in actually learning the motif so you can use it on all characters is your thing, go for it. Its not my thing at all.

Hmm, perhaps you guys are right. But what's more likely? ZOS going back on something they did or ZOS creating a new way to grab money from players (one that potentially won't even run out of demand as it is a per-use system). I am probably just whining I can't get my Stalhrim 2h-sword xD

Well, you can't get it for another like 11 months at any rate, but they'll totally bring it back! If it makes you feel any better I am 100% opposed to these awful "limited time" cash shop releases. I absolutely and unequivocally support bringing all those motifs back, even if they're "out of season".

You can still have a crafter make a Stalhrim 2H for you for a minimal fee. Then, leave the weapon slot “blank” on the outfit template so that it proudly shows on your character.

I’m moderately against this idea too. We’re getting a long term devaluation of motifs already ... just with the implementation of the outfit system. Adding a token that bypasses motif knowledge would create even less demand for them.

That won't do for me, because I want it to replace my MA 2h-sword. :C
I already have a crafted one which I would have loved to use to overwrite the MA appearance with, but since I can't...

    the five stages of grief:
    Denial
    Anger
    Bargaining <- I am right here ^^
    Depression
    Acceptance

Any reason why you feel that way? And I mean about the proposed stamps, not the existing dye stamps (which are rather limiting)
