Vampire undeath passive explanation?

The vampire undeath passive gives up to 33% damage mitigation based on missing health when below 50% health. But I am then wondering how much damage mitigation percentage actually is at say 50% health. Does it for example start at 0% damage mitigation at 50% health, and then 16.5% (1/2*33%) dmg mitigations at 25% health?

or... does it give 16.5% dmg mitigation at 50% health ("based on missing health" could be interpreted as when at 50% health half of health is missing, then half of max dmg mitigation from undeath will be appliead = 1/2*33% = 16.5% when at 50% health and 24.75% when at 25% health (3/4*33% = 24.75%)?

Gives progressively more mitigation as your health decreases under 50%. It’s a bit useless when you’re under 10% (PVP) as any half-witted enemy will be using executes, which have multiplicative bonuses.

Yeah the passive sounds awesome but in reality it almost never actually saves you.

Yeah, this might sound kinda goofy, but Undeath isn't worth the (almost non-existent) downsides of being in Stage 3. In normal PvE content, it'll soak off some damage and may save you. On Vet or in PvP it does not matter.

EDIT: At full mitigation, if you're a tank, it may be the difference between dying from one light attack or two at full mitigation.

I know I've been saved by this passive many times in PvP. Very noticeable in my opinion. Not sure the mitigation numbers though.

Increases incrementally by 1% per ~1.5% hp lost below 50% hp. Aka you get nothing at 50% and you won't get 33% until you are practically already dead.

Thanks for the confirmation on the mechanic. So 0% mitigation at 100%-50% hp, 16.5% mitigation at 25% hp and 33% mitigation at 0% hp. One would have to have quite a large amount of max HP to really gain something from this then like with 60K max hp you'll get ~11% mitigation at ~20K hp.
