Those Crown Goods...

Are they actually good for anything? As in the consumables like the: Potions, poisons, foods/drinks, etc. You know. The things that you often get from Crown Crates, and extract for Crown Gems. Those types of items. Do they actually have any value? Or rather will they ever have any value?

On the whole they are slightly worse than the stuff you can craft.

The only value they have is that you can turn them into gems and maybe buy something decent.

ZOS promised crown store bought consumables would always be slightly worse than their ingame equivalents and so far that's been true. Which is a good thing imo. I suppose a new player might be able to use those(especially given they scale to level unlike most food/all potions) but they aren't that many/are pretty pricey if you buy them on purpose and I'd rather just turn them into gems.

For me their only value is getting turned into gems.

If you're a new player these things are better than anything else available. Purple and blue food, tri-pots, multi-effect poisons and buff potions, xp scrolls, it's all good stuff if you can only craft single-effect green items.

They're certainly useful for low-level characters and, at a pinch, for non-competitive higher-level characters when doing lesser content. I wouldn't buy them but as free gifts they're not to be dismissed out-of-hand and they complement in my case a few decent things like pets and costumes etc I also got free within the crates event.

I used the XP scrolls I got from the free crates to level chars, some of the repair kits to save gold on repairs in trials, and the tri-pots on my tank. If they were free I don't really expect much but I wouldn't buy any but the XP scrolls using my subscription crown allowance otherwise.

If you look in your inventory stuff that drops in crown crates has a gem next to the icon. If you go in the crown crates menu you do have an option to convert them to gems. There are also some items that can be bought for gems, but once bought they cannot be redeemed again in the same manner.

Hmm... Figured as much. Lol. I just thought about it while reading the thread about what people got from their free crates and was like, “I wonder if there is any actual purpose that these consumables have. Like maybe there is something that we’re overlooking, and they actually are good for something. Because from I see so far, what we can craft is way better.”
