Change some 1h+S skill to make the Weapon-Line more versatile?

How do people feel about the 1h + S skill line? I think it could be interesting to adapt some skills/morphs that are hardly ever? used to make the skill line more versatile outside of thankin for more flexbility?

For example lower cost and increase secondary damage on deep slash and maybe even add a bleed effect to provide a spammable aoe option?

Another example could be power slam (dont ever see anyone using that)? Turn this into an execute that does increaing damage to targets below 50% health...

I think spammable/execute and aoe is whats mostly missing to make the skill line more versatile and as said bring some skills into use that i don't ever see anyone using...?

Great idea... we need a Captain America style shield throwing Aoe that hits all mobs in a single area and returns to the tank!

Tank is tank, not dps. It can give utility options, but not dps or burst damage.

Could be a nice idea for a future DSA/MA/AS style weapon set.

I use reverberating bash on 2 of my builds...one occasionally...the other build uses it a fair amount in PvP

To be honest, if you want to use a S&B offensively, your best option is just to pack up and head to Cyrodiil. You don't see people taking Power Slam because the utility of a stun is just too good to pass up.

The three melee weapons follow a continutiy. Dual Wield is the most offensive, and least defensive. Two Hander is a balance of both. Sword and Board is very defensive, with limited offensive options. If you want an AoE, both 2h and DW have that. You can use those. If you want a ranged AoE, that's DW (kinda, with Shrouded Daggers and Lacerate).

I mean, look at the ultimates. S&B: Stand there and take it. 2h: Freak the snot out, and carve up anyone that gets too close. DW: FALL BEFORE MY LASERS!

Shield skills are perfectly fine and do not need to be touched at all. Please do not touch them. Every single skill in that line has a functionality/use.

Shield Wall - The very existence of this skill is why block tanks exist and are viable. A cheaper ultimate for DKs to get battle roar off of, and provides tanks a window to heavy attack without dropping block. (which is useful in the current meta). This skill sees use in PvP, vDSA, and in The Mage Specifically. Spell wall is a little more versatile than Discipline, but both fit perfectly in with a handful of fights and overall it's a damn good ultimate.

Puncture - Excellent tank move, and applies fracture in PvP. Absolutely core on many stam builds and all tank builds. Even magica tanks should frankly be running this ability, as it is worth a good 20-30% damage boost for most players. Pierce Armor is the preferred morph overall, but Ransack is useful for lower-level tanks.

Low Slash - Used on every tank build. Deep Slash has marginal use and could probably be buffed since other skills apply maim better, however Heroic is absolutely core for every tank and used on a number of S/B stam builds in PvP as it grants heroism.

Defensive Posture - Used on every single trials tank build, and most DLC tank builds, due to the extra mitigation it provides. Absorb magic also provides a nice heal in some fights. (vDSA especially). Humerously, the passive for this skill works even if you do not have a shield equipped!

Shield Charge - Perhaps the only marginal skill, as 2H and class-based charges are slightly better than it. The stun is useful if you lack one, however, and it does see a use. Helpful in HoF when the main tank gets knocked back to get into position faster.

Power Bash - The reverb morph of this is key on many, many stam in PvP builds due to the defile attached. Power slam could be reworked to be more useful, but the base skill and reverb bash needs no change at all.

TL:DR - Don't you DARE touch shield skills ZoS! They are perfectly fine and useful. If you need to touch anything, buff up Ransack/Deep Slash/Power Slam. Everything else is perfectly fine and working as intended.

S&b is a crazy strong tanking weapon. Just look at those passives! and the (de)buffs! I don't think it needs any dps-y utility to it because that's just not what it's for. Furthermore, I believe Zenimax thinks that as well - when the game launched, bash was crazy strong, you could get stupid high dps just spamming bash more or less; it was silly and it's been nerfed multiple times since then. Around those times, resto staff was also the best magicka dps weapon - that's been nerfed as well.

There should be a time and place for everything - some things are meant to be defensive, others offensive and some others are meant to heal. This brings a versatility of its own.

more versatility doesnt have to mean only damage. I just think shoehorning skill lines into exactly one role is insanely boring...this game has become so cookie cutter - its original idea was allowing people the freedom and versatility to be whatever and do whatever and the result is that everyone uses the same sets, builds, skills....

And having skills that no one uses and not being able to come up with any useful or interesting changes doesn't really help either...

That's bulls... uhm... organic bovine waste product!

Muscle-powered attacks need no magica morphs - at all. They are -muscle- powered!

Magic-powered attacks also need no stamina morph - they are magic powered, not muscle powered after all.

Thuse class skills that are somewhat half-half... for those it makes sense.

    But S&B is all muscle...

And it also needs no more versitality - its fine as it is. Great for tanking, decent for PvP, and everyone has enough other skills to pick up the slack, be it class skills or fighter guild abilities.

What -could- use more versitality would be the general weapon selection... I'd love to see stuff like "One-handed & Magic" or "One-handed & Throwing" added, but that should come to no surprise, considering: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/371862/additional-weapon-skill-ideas-mk-ii ;)

I both agree and disagree with this. On one hand, yes, the game is currently very "meta" oriented, with just a handful builds really being effective, and clear "BiS" readily available for every class and spec(stam/mag); we have softcap removal to thank for that in a big way, as well as CP and some other stuff.

On another hand, the polar opposite sucks as well. If you could do literally whatever and be effective what would even be the point of builds, specialization, etc? If you go too far into "you can do anything and be just as powerful as the next guy" we just get extremely dumbed down combat where everyone is using different looking skills which are basically just skins for the very same effects.

Some specialization adds flavor and, yes, versatility to the game, so the perfect solution lies somewhere in the middle(and tbh I don't have much faith in ZOS' ability to find it).
