Its sad that this has been on shelves for so long a time. The matter that its been "nnounced" as upcoming ystem makes it even more sad, they should really pick up from where they stopped and continue.

Sometimes i remember my DDO days. I loved how many choices there were to do with all the multiclassing and numerous spells and stuff available though i guess people there were more open to the thing since many were allready damiliar with D6D and even more with AD&D and the aproach to balance the gamess had.

That aside, why not completely separate PVP from PVE stuff. I dont see PVP being as important in diversity as it is for battling other players and sorting out the best, the mid and the worst but then again i speak from old achool FPS gamers perspective where PVP is more of a skill and reflexes than having a "vuild" or gear that makes one stronger. This kind of system where gear and builds polay a big role, a best player does not always win the game but the one who can read the guides best.

Spell-crafting is something that would be a catalyst towards me putting down this game for good. How can you expect a system with maybe hundreds or thousands of combinations of effects and abilities to be balanced in a PvP system? If they were banned from use in PvP then we can have a discussion about this but the abilites we have now are just barely balanced and some would argue they are unbalanced. No need to throw a monkey wrench like this into the whole system. I'm more than ok with the abilities we currently have and I think we all should be lest we open Pandora's Box.

    So, ban it from PvP.

Many of the names that seem to post against it are ones I recognize from that arena. So, why not give them what they are asking for... no spellcrafting.

For the rest of us? Yes please, as soon as possible.

We already have a PvP vs. non-PvP zone divide. Battle leveling too. We have a precedent for changing the mechanics of the game based on where you are. Just manage spellcrafting in the same way.

    Done.

Yeah the precedent is there and there are super-selective about when to apply it. Seems like never as of late. But I wouldn't be opposed to it being a PvE only feature at all. I still feel as if its a pipe dream though.

And you thought identifying cheating was hard now...

No, identifying cheating is incredibly easy. "They did something I don't understand/can't figure out/haven't learned about, it must be cheating!" :P

    Starts around 53 minutes.

This is the stuff I am looking for. People are asking for this feature but are not giving any answer as to how this would be implemented. If you are going to discuss game mechanics then talk about how it could work

    Ah nostalgia...
    I remember spellcrafting.
    ...and so does Pepperidge Farms...
I don't comment here often but when I do, I get [snip]

The way i gathered it would work, is that you get a spell from mages guild or something that can lead you to fragments of tablets or complete tablets/runes behind hidden doors which are only visible when following the spell. you will have the traditional schools of magicka in the skill tab like Alteration, Transmutation, Conjuration, healing etcetera.. These schools of magick will be filled with spells/skills you discover/craft/buy and then you will be able to add these spells in the schools of magicka to your hotbar like any other skills in the game. I trust the skills itself wont need any explanation as they all work basically the same way, you press button and something happens.

That was the early version in simplest terms explained by me who propably made it sound very confusing :D

Here are some food for though for u guys :)

    Skillcrafting concept:

In this concept Skillcrafting is build around new Baseline weapon skill line called One handed and Tome skill line. This One handed and Tome skill line has magicka and stamina morphs for all of it's skills. Skillcrafting comes also with a new magicka based weapon type wand and a Tome which holds a crafted skill altering scroll in it. The crafted skill altering scroll in the Tome replaces one morphed skill from the One handed and Tome skill line with altered version of that skill. The Tome can be accompanied by one handed magicka or stamina weapon and thus One handed and Tome skill line can be used by magicka and stamina builds a like.

One handed and Tome Skill line:
    - 6 baseline skills: (1) Single target spammer skill, (2) Single target DOT skill, (3) AOE DOT skill, (4) Single target debuf skill, (5) AOE spammer skill, (6) Ultimate skill.
    - These 6 skills do the damage type based on the weapon in use (e.g. skills do fire dmg if fire wand is equipped).
    - All skills have magicka and stamina morphs.
    - Magicka morphs of the skills are ranged and stamina morphs of the skills are short range melee skills.
    - Only morphed One handed and Tome skill line skills can be altered with crafted skill altering scrolls.
    - 5 Passive skills

    Wand:
    -Magicka based weapon.
    -Does range attacks like staff.
-3 types of wands (fire, shock, ice).
-Wand can be crafted at the woodcrafting stations.

    Tome:
-The Tome is like board in the sense that it is enchanted with armor glyphs rather than weapon glyphs.
-Tome can be used with wand, mace, sword, axe or dagger.
-The tome can hold one active Skill altering scroll at a time.
-Tomes can be crafted at the woodcrafting stations.

    Skill altering scroll:
-The Skill altering scroll active in the Tome will replace one morphed skill from One handed and Tome skill line with altered version of that skill.
-The Skill altering scroll can be crafted at the Skillcrafting station using (1) Empty scroll (2) Skill type rune, (3) Skill altering rune and (4) Skill quality rune.

    Skill type runes:
-Skill type rune specifies the morphed One handed and Tome Skill line skill for the crafted skill altering scroll.
-There are magicka and stamina Skill type runes for every morphed One handed and Tome skill line skills.
-Skill type runes are rewarded from doing challenging veteran content in the game.

    Skill altering runes:
-Specifies what skill attribute(s) (e.g. dmg, radius, duration) will be altered.
-In addition to normal Skill altering runes there can be prismatic Skill altering runes which allow to alter two or even more skill attributes at once.
-Class skill altering runes can be farmed from nodes.

    Skill quality rune:
-White, green, blue, purple and yellow qualities.
-The Skill quality rune specifies how potent the skill altering effect is (White = least potent and Yellow = most potent).
-Skill quality runes can be farmed from nodes.

    Class Skill altering scroll concept:

Allows to replace one Class skill from the weapon bar with altered version of that skill by using the same slot as poisons do atm.. Class skill altering scrolls can be crafted only for some Class skills and more of these can be added to the game later with new content.

    Class Skill altering scroll:
-Class Skill altering scroll represents altered class skill (note that e.g. Maelstrom weapons are skill altering weapons in the game atm., but they alter the skill in just one specific way).
-Class Skill altering scroll is used in the place of poisons, but do not make weapon enchantment inactive like poisons do.
-Class Skill altering scroll can replace one slotted class skill from the weapon bar with altered version of it.
-Altered skill casts consumes Class Skill scrolls at some specific rate.
-Class Skill altering scrolls can be crafted at the Skillcrafting station using (1) Empty Scroll, (2) Class Skill type rune, (3) Class Skill altering rune and (4) Class Skill quality rune. Class Skill type rune specifies the specific skill for the crafted class skill altering scroll. Class Skill altering rune specifies what skill attribute(s) (e.g. dmg, radius, duration) will be altered. Class Skill quality rune specifies how potent the effect is.
-Class Skill type runes are rewarded from doing challenging veteran content in the game. Class Skill altering runes and Class Skill quality runes can be farmed from nodes.

The Skillcrafting concept consist of these two systems: One handed and Tome Skill line and Class Skill altering scrolls. This system would allow max. 2 altered skills (one altered class skill and one altered One handed and Tome Skill line skill) on a weapon bar at a time. IMO this would not be too hard to balance cus even if it potentially allows some good build customization in the end from the combat balance point of view these new skills can be seen just as specific altered skills like the ones in skill altering weapons (e.g. Maelstrom weapons) in the game atm..

CP is half baked i don't think it would have stayed that why had Matt submitted to the vision of these leads. there would have been another layer or two by now had they stayed the course
