Feeling Discouraged from ESO?

You go to work, pay for operating and playing your game along with everything else accompanied with it or someone else does. How ever you play ESO, you want to enjoy yourself and progress. I’ve recently reached end game and began looking for a communit with my interests. None the less, I’ve practiced my rotation and obtained the gear needed. Now it’s time to get experience and learn the trials. I’ve done everything I’m supposed to do and yet I run into some hateful people who say very nasty and negative things. Now, I’m not perfect. I’ve been the person who questioned people in dungeons and trials who have no interest in end game. Unfortunately I had to leave them to their own way of enjoying the game. So, I went on my way to search for people in the end game.

A few months into trials, I’ve become very knowledgeable and chose to create a YouTube account https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHppgAsLASp6-d3_Gfr-9ug . My goal was to show my progression, the things I do and to build a positive vibe. I’ve been a toxic player with *** talk. But, I’ve been trying to change. It’s a process. But I’ve ran into people who think I should remove my YouTube and not post anything because of their opinion.

As stated above, I’ve worked hard and pay for my own things and I’m doing something that makes me happy. Should I feel discouraged by this person? He has no VMA completions on his own. He yells at people about dying when they’re new to trials and needs to learn mechanics. Not to mention he does a lot. He blames his team versus himself for the failure as a raid leader. Now I’m not perfect, but I know when I see the issue. If you have trouble, you work on it daily.

My question to everyone is should you feel discouraged? What’s your story?

Ignore them and move on. If they are ruining the experience for you stop joining in with stuff they do and find someone else to lead the trials. Or hell, maybe you could start your own guild and get your own trials going to help out new players learn the mechanics. People want to learn and people want to teach. There is no room in this game for toxicity like that raid lead has been showing. They'll soon find themselves without a group to lead.

Honestly, my take, what goes around comes around and you're getting the come around. Sounds like you're getting a taste of your own medicine. It's really hard for me to find any sympathy for you because you're the kind of player I've probably dropped from dungeons because of, your admitted toxic behavior and trash talking.

Whoever this person is, they sound like a butthole and please take this with a pinch of salt, when two buttholes argue, well, they are two buttholes arguing over who is cleaner...

Seems like you are learning to be a community oriented player and keep up good work with youtube! It's always great when the community creates content. Just remember to keep that toxic behavior and trash talking for the noobs and zone chats. If you want to be taken seriously, you have to be a helpful and mature player.

Glad you are trying to change, that's really good and I wish you well! Keep working on your content man and you do you. Just remember to be a leader, a role model, and a fun player to be around.

This game and its design phiolosphy chased of its permanent end game community a long time ago. it had nothing to do with toxicity. it had to do with it being about nothing other then DPS , and avoidance of mechanics. It created a player base focused on speed and maintaining animation canceling while avoiding red stuff. I say keep trying if you enjoy the game keep your youtube channel and resist the urge of elitism . Usually MMO's Foster communities that have stuck together through multiple MMO's But this game did not of core design systems that were attractive to those guilds. end game is now a constant churn of competitors focused on individual performance.

    Ignore them. I do.

When I'm in a dungeon with someone like that, I just drop out. I'd rather run solo content and wait to run my daily with guildies than deal with bullies. I surround myself with good people and avoid the bad ones. Outside of the game, man I have no idea. I don't internet except on here really, I've given up on the internet. It's all toxic, it's all bullies, and it's all anon people being absolutely horrible to each other.

Hell, Deltia got some horrible crap for his deal (I am not taking a position on the matter). Even Kevduit gets idiots on his comments section. I'm sure people troll Alcast too. Just let that stuff roll off you man. You have to be a rain coat.

You need to run with people who give off good vibes. I know a guy whose followed a somewhat similar path, albiet not so much in the toxic realm.

They ultimately decided fewer is more, and now only runs with people he has the most fun with. Even when they're losing fights in Cyrodiil. It's not all hot fire spit and toxic arguments. It's all trolling and laughter.

Pacing is the key word with Achievements. If you get someone running the dungeon for it on a bad day, it's just not going to happen.

It's good to have goals, but put them into a scope of 'Macros' and Micros'. It'll be much more manageable that way. Once you're done with the Micro goal, then work toward the big cheese, the Macro goal that unlocks the shiney you're chasing for.

It's a cooperation game between multiple players. Some are more knowledgeable about some things and if they give advice, you listen. The biggest problem is that some players wont take criticism. I ran a NAS run this last week and the person who was putting it together said they were a tank but died every time a boss did a big hit and started to blame me, the healer. I have never, in my life, seen a tank go down like they did. I even tanked NAS and didn't need very many heals on myself, especially on the last boss. A DPS could have put a taunt on their bar and been the same as the "tank". When I approached them about their build, they refused and started to call me a ***, a *** and ***. I never said one rude thing except their tank was bad and they needed build help and I would help them. As soon as I saw this same person in area chat the next day in Craglorn, I just warned the other players in chat not to run a trial with this "tank" and explained the situation yesterday. I have ran so many Vet and Norm trials/dungeons as a Tank, DPS and Healer and that was the worst I have ever experienced, even our long 2 month VMOL progression group wasn't as bad or dramatic as that.

TLDR: Everyone is different and some personalities clash. It will happen in real life and game. You move on and keep going.

As someone who mainly PvPs. The PvE guild I'm in, has seen its far share of people that behave just like this. I've also called those folks out in guild chat when they lash out at the raid leaders 'advice' due to their poor behavior. You are certainly not alone in this regard. There are those who simply cannot separate build criticism =\= personal attacks. It really needs to stop.

Regardless of how you look at it, you value the people you play with. When they misbehave due to your way of thinking, you reduce the value team play. I love Jay-Z, Drake, Beyoncé, Katie Perry, etc... if someone trash talk them, you think I’m going to sit by and allow it? You’re entitled to your opinion, but when it becomes disrespectful, you have to correct them even though I don’t know them personally. Treat others how you want to be treated regardless if they’re next door or in another state.

Yeah, even the most talented, helpful, amazing person will always have people try to crap on them for stepping forward and taking a risk by creating or sharing something. This goes for writers, actors, game streamers, whoever.

And, honestly, for all of those reading, please never forget to give a like or a +1 or share or friendly comment to any content creator online that you think has does something good. It takes anywhere from half a second to a minute depending on how much you want to do, but each click adds up and encourages those content producers to keep going and ignore the trolls and bawbags.
