I have way too much fun trying to figure those things out on my own!
Skyshards are a breeze, the crypric hints in the journal -really- help tracking them down.
Lorebooks are best done during game-nights, when you can see the blue glow from afar... all it takes is enjoying wandering off the beaten tracks, checking out places the story does not take you to, etc.; and you'll stumble over loads of them.

You young whioppersnappers don't know how good you have it these days, with in-game maps and all that! Why in the olde days, we had to draw all our maps by hand, on actual paper, and check out every nook and cranny for that hypothedical treasure chest containing some nifty magic item (and occasionally fight a mimic!). Then fight our moms over it when they wanted to throw away our hard earned intel as "trash"... ah, the good old days, they don't make adventure gamers like they used to, why, todays gamers would be lost without their fancy maps and apps, now, gerroff mah lawn!
So, a majority of you simply use the Internet, and then rag on us for using an add-on that does basically the same thing, only a little easier?
