@ZOS Please Remove the Bodies of Killed NPCs Before New Ones Respawn!

I don't want to see Eagle's Talons guarding the doorway standing on their own dead bodies and a female Khajiit cleaning the Vulkhel Guard wayshrine with her own corpse lying beside her. Please ZOS devs, make the game respawn killed NPCs after the bodies are removed!! Otherwise it is really immersion breaking and looks very grotesque and unpleasant. In addition, I hope One Tamriel will bring about many more NPCs, or we will soon see the embarrassing scene of 3 or 4 players trying to pickpocket or kill the same NPC this fall.

I support this - in some locations NPC stand on a pile of their own corpses - this is so irritating and not immersive.

And to One Tamriel - not much will change population-wise in a zone - those are all PvE zones which are matter to the phasing technology - there are plenty of different phases in the same location - and each of them is separated from each other - you do not see those players in another phase. you can still chat with them though and eventually change into their phase by grouping or teleporting to them. This separates a phased system on ESO's mega-server from sharded systems like WoW, where you cannot leave your shard.

Normally, the dead body NPC will be gone by the time the NPC respawn. However if the player who commit the murder, did not loot the body, the old body will stay exist there preserving the loot while the new one already respawned :(

i don't like this, hope they address it in the future :* it makes Rawl'kha a bit cleaner

I posted some pics from a few days ago where I saw an NPC, in Anvil I believe, attempting to sweep away her own body with a broom. :* I found it to be pretty amusing, but no one else seemed amused. :p

The view in Mournhold a couple days ago.

I think it's hilarious, but I will agree that it gets kind of ridiculous sometimes. Especially if the same NPC has multiple corpses and and still up and walking around over their dead bodies.

It is actually funny to see the new spawn run over his own previously dead self. Lol! Particularly the minotaur pit boss in the Gold Coast.

Well killing an NPC with the blade of woe now only gives exp when it triggers arcane well. The townsfolk of Tamriel know this is a dangerous world. Dead bodies are of no concern; after all a dead man can't stab you in the back. Yes they may wear the same fashion of clothing because that is a popular style, who would be caught out in public in anything else.

Zos feel free to use my answer and/or alter it in anyway you see fit.Your welcome

Yeah, Mournhold looked like the beach at Normandy last night.

    It was pretty crazy.

I don't mind NPC bodies strewn all over the place. I just don't want to see several bodies of the NPC on the ground.

I agree with the OP... of course, ZOS could take us back to the wonderful times when we didn't have bodies littering the streets in cities housing the sites of central government...

This was always kind of an issue, but the Dark Brotherhood DLC has taken it to new levels of silliness. It totally destroys any immersion to find half the population of Tamriel murdered whilst walking around a major city, then of course seeing them re-spawn and stroll across their own corpses. It seems everyone and their dog is an assassin right now.

Removing the bodies would be a simple and intelligent fix. Of course, if Zenimax gave us an actual PVP bounty system for hunting prolific assassins, then perhaps the number of corpses everywhere would be somewhat lessened. And it would be fun too.

Adding an option to destroy loot items right there would be nice.

Trying to farm for motifs, and all I care to loot are the soul gems and the potions, and the boss's body lies there glowing because I am not in the mood to pick up 4 pieces of white/green trash and then go bouncing around my own inventory getting rid of it, just to make the body stop glowing.

Try being a WW....you will not be coming back asking for shorter despawn timers. If they do that I will ask for shorter time to consume a corpse, and 15 second longer WW transformation, also more time added for each consumed body. I find myself killing one mob out of a pack just to feed while the other mobs are beating on me. Immersion is being able to see a trail of corpses left over from your rampage, not kill 20mobs and turn around just to see them respawned and not dead

How many NPCs could be massacred is really not something I care, as long as the dead ones are not identical to the ones alive. ZOS have several ways to deal with this problem. Instead of spawning after removing the body, they could also respawn altered version of NPCs with changed clothes, hair style, race and name, but behaving according to same programme.

I posted this picture quite a long time ago here on the forums, and I still find it oddly disturbing to see someone choking their own corpse:

Is this a problem because you want to pretend that they didn't get murdered and then respawn? I already have to suspend my disbelief that there is STILL an over population of thunderbugs or whatever, even though I (and every player before me) has killed dozens of them. So many NPCs are murdered every day, and this world doesn't have any children in it, so how are there even any left if I start trying to pretend that they don't respawn?

How is an altered version of the NPC standing on the corpse of thier predecessor any better? Mindlessly standing there oblivious to the corpse at your feet is fine as long as it's not you?

I'm not trying to criticize, I'm just genuinely curious why people care if a basically immortal respawning NPC (maybe he has the same special respawn power we have) is standing on his own corpse. The line is drawn at the standing on thier own corpse, but not the respawning, or being murdered in broad daylight. As long as the corpse is gone before they return from the dead, then it's fine?

I agree, I am sick and tired of going into a city and seeing bodies lying all around, its completely immersion breaking and not realistic at all. I am sick of those players who feel the necessity to kill all NPCs in sight, they should make it phased or something so those of us who want to be immersed in the game and roleplay don't have to watch that going on >:(

Which would mean you would lose the chance to loot faster or the NPCs would respawn slower. I would go with the former.

I always find it funny when people complain about their immersion in an MMO. There are thousands to millions of other players online. There is always going to be someone doing an action that you consider "immersion-breaking". If immersion is something you value in gaming I would suggest trying one of the single-player Elder Scroll games out there.
