So where are my characters?

I thought characters from live server would be copied to PTS. I even noticed some bug yesterday because of which PTS was taken down.
I still don't have my regular characters available.
What gives?

I'm pretty sure characters aren't generally copied over. Could be wrong though.

If you take a look at the text box under the login screen of the PTS it also states which live characters are currently copied.

Ok. Apparently, for some reason they don't care about EU players.

Stop. It's always been like this. They can't copy both servers at the same time, so they alternate between NA and EU. It isn't a grand conspiracy against EU players, you'll get your turn soon enough.

They do care, but it’s a two week rotating schedule between NA and EU character copies.

So, you can test on your characters in a little less than two weeks.

In the meantime, create a template character and have fun in PTS.

Under what conditions are characters copied? Do you need to have logged onto the PTS at least once or something?
Because I've been playing for several months and when I installed the PTS client few weeks ago, there was nothing.
If characters are copied every two weeks or something, surely I would have found mine there?

The Chars are only Copied during the Testing Seasons. So at the Start of each new Season first the current NA chars are copied to the Server. It is irrelevant if the Player of any given Char has installed the PTS or not, since it is a full database copy. Then with the next PTS Incremental the EU Chars are copied and the NA Chars are removed. This alternates for the full testing period. Once the new DLC is released the PTS becomes dormant meaning that no further copies / switches of chars are made and it remains on the status of the last pre-release Incremental until the next Season beginns.
