I'd like an option in game settings to not gain anymore champion points when you're already at cap.
I have 900 of them and I really don't wanna have more :joy:

Mainly talking about pvp. No cp sucks but let's not get infinite fights by having all our resources last or that our dmg is so ridiculous we one shot other guys with lower cp.

It wouldn’t be bad if it wasn’t so utterly pointless. I’m a full-time student; I don’t have time to make sure I’m getting at least 60 champion points before each major update. I’d like to reach max-level sometime within the next five years.
You get 400k from the enlightenment daily, its 3 months or 90 days between the updates so you earn will gain +60 cp, earlier you get far more but the last leg is slower.
Note as we get more cp its also easier to get the first 160 and not much more to get 300 who is the most useful because of front loading. In the end we will end up spending points on the last 1% or increasing stamina recovery on magic builds.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I don’t know whether it is sarcasm or not . But I like the CP system. A 1% increase is still progression. I would have never been able to solo a World Boss without CP (Tbh, I soloed my first WB at CP 590). For a filthy casual player ie yours truly who doesn’t care about or understand rotations, CP is a clutch mechanism. It gives a sense of empowerment at higher CP levels. And that kind of empowerment which I don’t get IRL is what makes me want to continue playing and enjoy the game.

Op i was over the cap when they capped it the first time it was annoying as hell. i do not wanna be capped again because you say so. Been here since earliest allowed play time of eso and im not back tracking because some guy mentions power creep eventually they gonna raise gear cap its inevitable and everything will get harder and that cp cap will rise to make the content doable. Even capped 720 cp some ppl cant complete vma despite all those lil bonuses.

I played a lot of ESO, and I'm barely CP 710. CP are an awesome incentive to keep training and playing, but it's true that it takes too long to reach max CP.
I don't know many games that ask you to train THAT much in order to be max lvl. But honestly, I don't play too many other games.

I feel for the new players. I convinced my brother to play after 3 years, and he enjoys a lot the game, but the CP system is demoralizing him, because he feels like he will never be competitive. I told him that I saw plenty of players CP300+ doing AMAIZINGLY well in pvp, but it doesn't matter, it's a bitter taste that won't be gone until you reach max CP (or at least are very close).

I wouldn't mind for ZOS to help new players even further. I understand they need to earn those CP, but it should be easier than it is right now. Not easy enough to gain them in a month, but maybe 3 months should be more than enough if you play normally (not hardcore, meaning 1-2 hrs per day).

If they plan on keeping CP long term they need to expand the trees, add more options for better varity and just diminish some point values so the power creep can be kept under control

exactly the CP system was basically the veteran system un locked. its a poor AA system it needs to be expanded . Right now they are just compounding a poor idea.

i must admit given the diminishing returns i do not see how raising the cp from 630 to 6660 etc is a big deal of worry for anybody or even the gradual gain to 900 in what... two and a half more years or so?

somewhere around 400-500 or so the majority of the meat and potatoes of the cp tree is reachad for most characters and from then on its just small buttered rolls and garnish - in my experience.

If you play even a semi-reasonable amount (use your enlightenment and maybe a little extra here and there), it's not hard to reach and exceed cap.

The increase is 10 points per constellation, which is going to amount to a very minor change if you're at cap right now.

it's probably because the only other MMO I've played is runescape, but the concept that there isn't a definite, unchanging max level is so weird to me. Even if CP is capped at 3600, the periodic increase of the subcap is weird. If the subcap eventually reaches 3600, there will still be massive differences between new players and the 3600CP players so idk. needs a rework

I think they should keep increasing the CP cap, but also periodically nerf down the effects.

Makes the time investment to get to max greater and greater, but the power difference between a max player and a new player stays roughly the same.

That's strange because it's an ancient concept. EverQuest had AA points similar to CP for ages and the max level was continually increasing there too. Heck, not just the CP, sometimes even the normal levels would increase too. Look at WoW, it has over 100 levels now when it started with 60. Nearly all other MMOs have a varying level cap over time as more content is added because it's a way for developers to rebalance the game without nerfing everything. All they have to do is balance the stats on the higher tier gear differently from the older gear, so maybe your warlock is no longer drowning in hitpoints but instead is more like a high dmg wizard. ESO is going with an alternate approach where the gear remains the same yet your character advances instead. No loot ladder farming.

Looking at the recurring theme of gear/skill nerfs and cp increases together, it seems to me that these are intended to complement each other to provide a continuing sense of progression while reining in the power creep.

For me, these incremental changes keep things interesting. I have never seen a nerf or buff so drastic that it makes the difference between whether the same individual or group can or cannot complete a particular instance.

I no longer play to gain cp or better gear- in fact, my greatest sense of progression is watching other players that I help make progress- and if my damage goes up or down a bit each patch, so be it. So long as I am master of my character, all is well.

But... it's easy to feel like a zen monk sitting on a mountain top when you don't even know how many cp you have because it is at least a couple of hundred over the cap. I understand how the constant cap increases could demoralize new players and prevent them from even making a go of it.

For instance, I started playing FFXIV a couple of months ago, and just got bored of it- even though it is a stellar game in many respects- because everyone was seemingly a thousand levels higher than me and I couldn't join in with anything. "Just keep questing, keep grinding," they told me- and so I returned to ESO, where I have already done that and don't have to do it anymore!

it would still take the same time to level from start as it does to cp690, perhaps one month more as you get an new increase while on the last 3/4 to cap.

If the CP cap is raised again and again then people at 200 CP have no reason to buy chapters or dlcs since they won't have time to lvl alts(e.g. Warden) because focusing on their mains to get CP up and they will be "locked" out of content because their CP is too low for people who expect 400+ CP for certain vet dungeons or trials. And forget BGs.

Funny, because players used to get that from, you know, playing the game.

But wth, why not stop until everyone can have treasure hunter on every toon.

Funny, because players get CP from, you know, playing the game.

Just play the game, accrue the CP, use them when you can. ZoS went to great lengths to try to make all aspects of the game contribute to CP at a similar rate. It wasn't too long ago that there was an outcry when grinding XP was nerfed in several favourite grinding areas just so that grinding wouldn't be far more efficient at getting XP than questing or PvP. (I know there are still loop holes here, but they did try).

And they put in the catch up mechanism. And enlightenment.

Enjoy the game, CP are just a by-product of that enjoyment :)
